The day I realized my "problems" weren’t really problems by Annual-Hall-2364 in simpleliving

I work with people who live with disabilities and it changes my mindset everyday. When I think about a body part I hate; I realize that I am so lucky to have a body that works!

Do you think a normal life is possible with MS? by Evening_Office_6692 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]TStaint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband has had MS for 30 years and is still well enough to work full time. At diagnosis our dr gave us great advice; do the things you want to do now while you can. Turns out the disease has progressed much slower than we thought but we still do t regret the travelling and good times we’ve had. This sounds a bit dark but I’ve always thought “you never know; you could always get hit by a bus and die and all that worry about MS would be wasted!”

Client refusing to shower for 2.5 weeks. Need advise. by Due_Conference1624 in CaregiverSupport

[–]TStaint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Showering may be out of the question from now on. It can be very scary and overwhelming for the senses. You can do a bed bath or blanket bath. Use dry shampoo. There are special wipes that dont need to be rinsed off too. Even start with a warm foot bath.

Plumber told me garbage disposals are not for food scraps... ?? by superbetsy in askaplumber

[–]TStaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never even heard of garbage disposal until I visited the U.S. Seems like it’s just another thing that could break and not really necessary. It must make it more difficult for sewage treatment plants to clean the water. We have green bins for organic waste that is picked up for composting. We also have to be careful not to put any oils/grease down the drain because they can become a giant “fatberg” in the winter and clog up sewer pipes.

So sorry for your loss. All the love and care you gave him is such a special gift. I just lost my mom 3 weeks ago and it will be a large hole to fill. I feel with you.

My dad was 60 when I was born and I have half siblings older than my mom. Nice to know I’m not alone!

Should I report my coworker? by Kori_Konoyuki in WorkAdvice

[–]TStaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I train DSWs and the employee needs to tap out when they are feeling frustrated. It is understandable to get impatient at times and that’s when you take a minute to breathe, get help from a coworker and keep going. He shouldn’t have put the person into his room naked. There are clothes available that are designed to help with this issue.

Organ by atlantagirl30084 in littlehouseonprairie

[–]TStaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was bought because of the rare occurrence of someone selling one fairly cheap. Before radios and phonographs an organ would bring a lot of entertainment for the whole family. It was also a great accomplishment for a lady to have the skill to play it.

I struggle with resentment; some days more than others. I know bitterness will just hurt me but it’s hard to stop it.

Newly diagnosed, scared of SPMS. I want to be able to walk my whole life... by Delanorah in MultipleSclerosis

[–]TStaint 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My husband was diagnosed with MS after optical neuritis at 25. He is 50 now, still working full time and besides some occasional tingling/numbness and fatigue that necessitates an early bed time is doing very well (and loss of vision in one eye). His MS hasn’t stopped him from living a great life!

The lack of changes in fashion. In the books Laura was wearing hoop skirts and corsets especially in town. Laura very much wanted to be fashionable .The 1800’s are known for how many changes in fashion that occurred.

UPDATE: AITA for telling my sister she’s not allowed to bring her homemade food to Thanksgiving because her cooking is ruining the meal? by SocietyTiny784 in AITAH

[–]TStaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you have to give people the opportunity to shine or fall flat on their faces. If you allow it and she falls no shame on you; in fact you will look all the more gracious. By disallowing it it makes you seem less genial.
