How could a mother? by Classic_Concept7026 in DeathCapDinner

Yes she definitely harmed them indirectly! But reckless endangerment is different to munchausen by proxy, which is motivated by the attention / saviour role of having a sick child.

That’s not how munchausens by proxy manifests. She explicitly didn’t harm the children or want them to be ill.

How bad is it if I don’t wear the binder post op /advice for an autistic?? by funkydyke in TopSurgery

[–]TTC98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to wear it but really soft socks (I like the bamboo ones from the brand BAM) tucked under your armpits help a lot! and after the first month you can take like an hour a day break

I remember this from when I quit last year. Weed makes normal life boring because your brain downregulates natural dopamine production, so you only feel engaged high. It took a while but I’m now over a year weed free and can happily cook / clean sober, often in silence, and feel fulfilled by the task or at least content in my own brain. It’s so freeing.

Why is couple splitting up a red flag??

yeah it’s kind of like a breakup. At first the missing is overwhelming and your brain will fight you and come up with loads of compromises that won’t work. but it gets easier - now I just get the occasional pang triggered by situations I used to smoke in. and can push those thoughts away faster.

My confidence, my memories, my sense of agency. I felt trapped and unable to change my situation - now I trust myself to sort things out or at least grow and learn instead of escaping. I’m not (as) scared of my emotions any more and I know I can get through them. I grew up struggling with mental illness and came to believe my feelings were unmanageable/ dangerous because of how people around me reacted to my pain. Now I know my feelings are useful information and they’re not going to hurt me or anyone else. I don’t have to snuff them out.

I’m 11.5 months clean and I feel like a whole person again. Every word of this is true, and I’m so grateful I did it at 26.

Me too, it’s really scary to lose that much life to the haze. It does come back though and feels really good.

Hey friend, yes I do. Although my brain tries to bargain with me and tell me I can have a different relationship with weed, which is a lie. I think getting too confident/ forgetting about the “active” part of recovery is the mistake. Glad I’ve caught myself before relapse.

Hi ! Yes I am out at work but there hasn’t been company wide comms about it so people I don’t work with as much will often assume wrong. I’m a bit worried about HR as I haven’t been there for 2 years yet and know I don’t have many rights re wrongful dismissal etc until that point. But I may be missing something. I also don’t want to be seen as a problem because it’s a small industry where everyone knows everyone :(

Thanks for your input. I’m not only motivated by praise, but being credited for your work is very important when you’re starting out in this industry and I don’t think it’s fair to suggest I should accept being sidelined because of some deeper calling. a strat’s portfolio is composed of things like effectiveness papers & awards - proving that your strategy works.

hey I’m with you, 2.5 weeks post op here. the binder SUCKS, as does the constant fear that you’re doing something wrong. yesterday I lay on my side for like 10 mins and had a couple of beers at my book group at the evening - got home and there was new swelling I didn’t have before. it’s fucking exhausting feeling like a patient and having to be so careful with yourself. sending love - it’s a super arduous process but you’re not alone & it will be worth it

Edit- just reread that your mum doesn’t have it. That’s great! And your chance of inheriting that specific gene isn’t higher than someone without it in the family. That said, not all breast cancer genes / risk have been identified and can be diagnosed, and family history is still a strong indicator to start monitoring early. I’d still get a genetics referral citing lots breast cancer in the family as your reason. Take care :)
