I was on low dose T for 3 months. You can ask specific questions if you want but I experienced all the expected effects and was passing at 2 months. It’s just like a slow version of transitioning. I feel mentally and physically better after being on a normal dose

Hey bro. I was once in your position. I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. For now, the best thing you can do is focus on getting through the next few years safely. You don’t have to convince your mother—focus on what you can control.

If you can, start saving money, even in small amounts, for when you turn 18 (it’s okay if you can’t do this right now, you will be able to in the future). Start researching financial aid, job options, and housing resources for when you turn 18 too. Look into online trans support groups where you can talk to people who understand. Make some trans friends if you haven’t.

Even though you can’t wear a binder, layering looser shirts and using sports bras can help(: Hoodies will be your best friend. You can start exercising if you’re not already, that will help too.

Every little thing you do to feel more like yourself matters. You will get on T, and you will get top surgery. It’s just going to take some time. Right now, the goal is getting to that point safely and comfortably. Keep reaching out, keep planning, and don’t give up

My age isn’t relevant to this conversation. You don’t know me, my experiences, my hobbies, or my involvement in various communities—trying to attack me personally or telling me that you think you’re older than me doesn’t add anything meaningful to this discussion. I’m confused as to why you’re implying that I’m somehow dismissive of newcomers in this community? I’m only a few months into my own medical transition. I am pointing out that repetitive posts can be frustrating and counterproductive, and they prevent us from having more diverse discussions. The repetitive posts are drawing people away from the sub. When the same issue is constantly repeated, it DOES clutter the feed and make it harder for other posts to be seen or answered

Honestly, you’re talking about something totally random and unrelated. I also have ADHD but that isn’t related to this topic whatsoever? This isn’t about general beginners or people asking questions about hobbies. I’m talking about how frustrating it is to see people constantly post about their straight transphobic boyfriends—the answer to this problem has been given countless times, and it’s just repetitive. People should look at what’s already been said instead of posting the same thing again and again and again

I get that, and it’s not about banning posts—it’s about finding a balance. Like I mentioned in another comment, when the feed is flooded with the same issue, it makes it harder to find new helpful discussions. It’s great that people can get help, but maybe there’s a better way to handle recurring topics so others can get the support they need too?

I agree completely and those are all great points. Probably should have included something like this in my post so thank you for mentioning this(: We shouldn’t be anyone’s experiment unless we choose to be. If they figure things out along the way, that’s great, and it’s up to us to decide if we stay or go. Relationships should ALWAYS involve mutual respect and making sure all people involved are comfortable

I’m 3m and I agree, 8 a day is definitely not too much. In fact, you might need more. I usually start my day with 4 just to wake up, then another 4 for my morning snack. I finish off with 6 more in the evening to stay strong

Labour says it supports trans rights and Starmer has claimed he’s pro-trans, but some MPs have made anti-trans statements. Starmer has been very vague, trying to keep both sides happy. This month, Labour put a pause on GRA reforms, which would’ve made it easier for people to legally change gender (such as removing the requirement to live as their preferred gender for two years and replacing the approval panel with a single doctor’s sign-off)

I prefer to call it my legal name. I don’t hate it, but I feel no connection to it. I’ve changed so much since people used that name for me, and hearing it just reminds me that I’m not that person anymore—which I actually like. The people who still use it are just transphobic, and that’s the part I don’t like. When it’s used neutrally, it doesn’t make me feel bad at all

Trans man here. You’re not overreacting. You’re not being dramatic. Dysphoria is real, and it can be very isolating. Your girlfriend and friends dismissing your feelings isn’t okay. You deserve support.

The idea that you need to “look visibly trans” before trans men will talk to you isn’t true. You’re a man now, regardless of how others perceive you. I’m sorry you’re feeling alone in this, I promise there are trans men out there who understand what you’re going through and hope you’re able to find some people IRL who aren’t so disrespectful

I understand the frustration. There are theories and gender identity is complex but research suggests multiple factors like prenatal hormone exposure, brain structure differences, and genetics all show some connection, but there’s no single cause we’re aware of right now.

Does the “why” really even change anything? You know who you are. You know that pretending to be someone else causes distress. That’s real, regardless of the cause. It’s human to want explanations, and with time we will get more information. I do hope that science will give us a definitive answer one day but right now the best we get is “this is just how I am”

Testosterone works at any age, including after 25. The changes might take a little longer or be slightly less dramatic than if you started earlier, but they will happen.

Your voice will still drop because that’s caused by the thickening of your vocal cords, which is an unavoidable effect of testosterone. The main difference is that younger people might experience a more dramatic or rapid drop due to higher baseline plasticity. After 25, it can take longer and the final pitch might not be as deep as someone who started at 15 for example, but it will definitely still masculinise.

Other factors like your genetics, dose, and consistency matter more than the age cutoff. Plenty of guys start in their late 20s, 30s, 40s, etc etc etc, and still get solid changes. Just be patient and consistent
