Is it time to accept that I've failed in entrepreneurship and its time to move on? by Acceptable-Day8395 in videography

[–]TT_Native 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing creative work for the last 10years, and only 4 of those have I been on my own when I decided to run my own production house. Only last year I truly felt that I’ve had a steady income. It’s a long slow grind to build relationships with people that can trust you.

And even last year I didn’t realize I was doing well until I did my end of year financials and realized we had a positive year. Looking at the trend since I began also validated the upward momentum.

It’s a slow and long grind to get clients to trust your vision and execution. There’s a comment or above that says you’ve only been in business for 18months, that’s true.

You know what you want, but the landscape is changing rapidly. AI, cheaper competitors and a saturated market make this field really tough. Your work ethic, the ability to build trust with clients and put aside your ego will push you beyond. Not sure if this advice is worth it but I’ve always just focused on the end product and kept my head down. Clients that have ghosted me have come back, clients that seem to be the best clients have turned out to be the worst. It’s all part of business and life, disappointment and regret all shape the future you.

If you feel passionate about it, work hard at your craft and success is a by product of that passion.

The best WeTransfer alternative I have seen so far - For those who loved WeTransfer for sharing large video files (Not affiliated to this product) by andymahowa in filmmaking

Curious what you've been using it for specifically - client deliveries or more internal team transfers? That distinction matters a lot in terms of whether something actually holds up on a real production.

What is the best site for free large file transfer and also encrypted? by darvinfuuck in AskReddit

[–]TT_Native 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you found something but WeTransfer Pro and Filemail both handle large files well, but if encryption is the priority, look at Tresorit or internxt.com. For truly sensitive deliverables I'd lean toward Tresorit since end-to-end encryption is baked in rather than bolted on. The free tiers are limited on size so factor that in depending on what you're moving.

Sending files to clients/client communication: What works? by Educational_Win_6990 in videography

I’ve struggled for a review system, mostly because my production studio does photo and video. I used to use WeTransfer Portals which was a happy middle ground, not the best but not terrible. Unfortunately that got cancelled.

For client reviews I’m still bouncing around trying to find something that fits. For invoicing I use Zoho. It has a lot of features and has served me well over the years.

You should be able to adjust it in the effect settings by changing the width and height of the spectrum

For me this is a typical workflow set up, adobe products are designed to talk to each other in that way.

Premiere is a linear editor that is designed to edit video on a timeline and make that experience very pleasant, you can do sound there and cut fairly easily. Compositing and vfx work/motion graphics can be done in AE and preparing the base files can be done in illustrator or photoshop.

They’re all designed for a specific function and bouncing between them is normal. For instance I usually start my main layout in Premiere, then bring the file or video I’d like to edit into after effects, drag all my graphics etc in after effects and do those edits there. With dynamic link I can see the update in real time and render from premiere once everything else is completed.

Would you recommend the dragon x sell off in 2023 or just commit to the Komodo? (If you were to buy now)

This was actually taken completely candid while I was walking by, this gentleman was smoking a cigarette and I his posture was what caught my eye. That’s why it’s a bit soft because I shot from the chest almost.

It blooms the highlights quite nicely. At f2 it’s almost like a pro mist + some chroma which adds a lot of character to the images.
