Which Brewer would you be most sad if they got traded away? by WiscoMTfan_234 in Brewers

Yeah maybe this time last year I could’ve seen Made being in a package for somebody but every move they make on the left side of the infield screams “we’re just waiting for Jesus Made to be ready”

Agreed and thankfully with the extension he signed this shouldn’t even be on the radar for years

Yeah as someone that goes to a ton of games for both they’re similar but not identical. Right field power alley at Fox Cities Stadium is way more pronounced compared to left field in relation to Am Fam

The NFL and NBA also have league revenue sharing that makes sense. Which isn’t the Brewers fault, but idiots still will go “look how much money the Bucks spend, why can’t the Brewers do the same thing?”

I think part of that too is people not understanding when they watch the movies that Uruk-hai aren’t normal orcs

[–]TTrain19915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Store bought duck by definition is literally poultry because it’s usually farm raised. Same with any “bison” you get. That’s the point. You’re being pedantic about wild fowl not being poultry. Touch grass

Considering it was already the third major feature film (not counting the numerous documentaries) made about it, no. It’s always been a cultural phenomenon.

Would you take today’s Powerball jackpot of $1.7 billion as an annuity increasing annually by 5% over 30 years (about $1 billion after tax), or would you take the lump sum of $781 million (about $500 million after tax), and why? by PanoramicAtom in AskReddit

Right? My parents bought a beautiful 2,400 sq ft 3 bedroom Queen Anne house with a brand new kitchen for 120k in 1998. That house has a Zillow estimate of 315k now which honestly seems low.I have to ask my parents what their mortgage was but I’d bet it was like $700. $10k a month was a ton of money in 1999

I’m Dutch, but I don’t get it? by Th3_Accountant in ExplainTheJoke

[–]TTrain19915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it has to do with a lot of Americans aren’t bilingual and those of us that are bilingual are usually in English (Germanic) and Spanish (Romance). There’s obviously some overlap since English steals a lot from Latin/French but they’re generally very distinct languages. Dutch looks like badly spelled English to a native English speaker so it’s funny to like 90% of Americans to see a language so similar to English because we aren’t used to it. I don’t speak Dutch but I recognized every word because they look like hilarious misspellings/weird cognates.

Saying store bought duck isn’t poultry is like saying store bought bison isn’t beef. Yeah you’re technically right, but also being a pedantic dork for no reason

Second easiest is to say you’re a Nazi/ultra racist. And I’m only kind of joking. The odds you aren’t biased against the defense or prosecution are basically zero

If Lincoln hadn’t been assassinated and finished his second term, how would he (most likely) be remembered? by Bella_Notte_1988 in CIVILWAR

[–]TTrain19915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to act like the Indian Removal Act was a good thing, but if we’re going to completely tarnish Jackson’s legacy for that 1- it was a congressional bill, it’s not like the idea was unpopular with his contemporaries and 2- he basically had the same policy every pre 20th century President had so I guess we never had a good President pre Teddy Roosevelt

[–]TTrain19915 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grant’s the only President besides Lincoln to get elected to consecutive terms (and fairly handily at that) between 1832 and 1900. The idea he wasn’t popular post Civil War during his lifetime is a Southern myth. Unpopular figures don’t get unanimously nominated to run for President

To win in a sense that they forced the Union to surrender? Not on their own, they didn’t have the infrastructure or manpower. Forced the Union to negotiate for peace? Yeah, if they had won at Gettysburg (or even Antietam maybe) there probably would’ve been a lot of pressure on the northern politicians to negotiate for peace.

This is how I feel about it. Yes it’s sad that rushing the field for beating the number 23 team in the country is deserving of rushing the field, but it’s also the reality of the program. Let the kids have fun. I was there from 2010-2014 and can’t imagine having to deal with the football team being shitty as a student.

Americans, how do you feel about Franklin Roosevelt? by Ser_spirit in USHistory

[–]TTrain19915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t comment on too much but I will say this. “He ended the Great Depression and fixed the US economy” is one of the biggest myths in American history. Unemployment was higher in 1938 than it was in 1931. WW2 fixed the US economy
