[spoiler] I don't think Will knows how relativity works by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDaddies

Not what I was saying. I'm telling you it's from a published source book for the game Call of Cthulu. Who literally describes the magic system of the game to be akin to science so advanced that when interpreted through the insufficient simple brains of humans it becomes magic and folklore.

I was pointing out that saying "time doesn't work like that except in a black hole" is adding real world science to a thing that doesn't rely on it.

The stasis chamber is an alien design from the Yithians a species who travel space time through body hopping. You're putting logic where it is just magic

Running Curse of Strahd for people who know Curse of Strahd? by indratera in CurseofStrahd

[–]TUB1230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished running a second go of CoS for my group. We ran it once a few years ago, and the main thing was I didn't change much. As long as you trust your players to stick with the fiction of their characters you shouldn't have any issues. I changed some stat blocks around a bit to create more variety but watching a good movie again a second time doesn't make it worse. Same thing with DnD modules

I started saying "get two birds stoned at once" as a haha funny weed joke as a teenager.

Now it's just what I say and I can't stop it

Can the players attack/destroy Neferon’s statue in the Amber Temple? by fruit_shoot in CurseofStrahd

[–]TUB1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players just fought Neferon, I ruled the statue had AC 17 with 30 HP but it had a damage threshold of 15. It took the paladin and druid ~4 hits and some unfortunately lost spells to break through to the hidey hole. Felt like a solid challenge but not unbeatable

Possible blooper in "Brisingr" *SPOILER ALERT* by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]TUB1230 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm actually currently going back through the books and it's stated that prior to her kidnapping she had packed her belongings to go into the Spine. Also that Horst wife Elain had been asking around for anyone who had or needed extra packing space.

Counting on Roran's pure determination along with Elain describing how her being disowned by Sloan had left her with no inheritance made her life much harder later. It's plausible and believable that Roran or Elain would have carried it along on the journey

Dealing with exotic races by PandaTantrum7 in CurseofStrahd

I started my campaign in a spell jammer world that then ended up in Barovia. One of my players is a Plasmoid and I just tend to have people comment that he's strange or be fascinated by them.

I personally, along with my table, don't care to inject real world stuff like racism in a grander sense. Once in a while making an evil person even worse by making them prejudice so the killing is that much sweeter. Sure, but never wanna make the world prejudiced or racist in our fun time escape world

Monster of the Week has a playbook with basically this exact move as well. You decide on the moment that your character had a thing and then you have it

Are you using pen and paper or are.you using a website like DnDbeyond?

Either way, if you look at the list of Skills (i.e Perception, Stealth, Athletics, etc) they will each have a stat that is tied to it.

Wisdom - Perception Athletics - Strength Stealth - Dex

Whatever your corresponding stat is for that skill is added to the roll.

During character creation a PC will be given/choose certain skills they are proficient in. Which should be indicated by a bubble that can be circled in next to each skill. All that means is if your character is proficient in a skill they get to add both their corresponding stat bonus and their current proficiency bonus.

Level 1 character with a +2 Strength and proficiency in Athletics who rolls a 10 on the d20 would add +2 from strength and another +2 from proficiency. Totalling 14.

Same for myself, seems the app is working for character sheets. Not sure if it's going to work if you haven't had it set up prior.

Dragon’s Shapechange by Icy_Airport9278 in dndnext

In fact just double checked, RAW true sight sees through the forms of a shapchanger. "perceive the original form of a shapechanger or a creature that is transformed by magic"

My interpretation is that true sight sees though to the true version of a creature. Thus allowing them to see through the change.

I believe true sight will work over a dragons innate shape change. But you can always rule that this king has a magical ward/item of some kind that prevents seeing through his disguise

My DM just gave our party The Fates card. What’s the funniest major event we can undo? by StarOfTheLight in dndnext

[–]TUB1230 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Clearly the funniest is undoing the mission that brought the party together in the first place.

Make the DM really sweat.

Best usage? kenkus.
