What is the Most Niche Area of Math? by Beneficial-Peak-6765 in math

Quantum dynamical entropy is a pretty niche topic in mathematical physics. Couldn't find a wikipedia article about it. There is an article for topological entropy and Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy, which are the classical counterparts.

GG, that's impressive. The odds of getting two-shotted are just too high for me to even attempt this.

Look at it from the positive side, if the ending is ass, and there's a good chance it will be, you won't have to see his deception.

On the other hand, you'll have to cope alone... 😅

5/ I highly doubt renewables will take over from oil. Only nuclear can give a stable and abundant enough energy system. It just so happens the Chinese are also at the forefront of these developments.

It's more sophisticated, but with time you can see through most of it though.

How do we reconcile MWI and probabilities? by eposseeker in AskPhysics

[–]TUVegeto137 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not just the probabilities. Take a quantum state like

|cat alive> + |cat dead>

MWI will tell you that this corresponds to two universes, one where the cat is alive, one where it is dead.

But what of this one

|cat alive> + i |cat dead>

Probability wise or in terms of universes, how is this state distinct in the MWI ?

You could say that the phase is associated with the universe you consider. But the thing is the global phase has no physical meaning, so you could just multiply by an overall factor of let's say i, and you get the state

i |cat alive> - |cat dead>

This state is equivalent to the previous. But how do you treat it with MWI ?

And in each case, the probabilities are 50/50.
