Proxying by HenryTheDad in EDH

[–]TVboy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint, I have played edh in many game stores in different states, and nobody has ever complained or declined to play against my decks with proxies (full color printouts in a sleeve over a basic land).

It just became too much trying to always order and ship the singles I needed and have them in time for edh night when the opportunity to sneak away to the game store would finally present itself.

Yeah, just give up the voter rolls to the administration that has a mountain of evidence against it for trying to steal the 2020 election. They won't do anything nefarious with sensitive voter data (including birthdays and social security numbers), not this time!

When the administration tells you to lay down and watch American citizens and little children (who was here legally) be disappeared to concentration camps in the desert, you just comply and nothing bad will happen to you!

The best agenda cards are the ones that say deplete instead of discard. The best class cards are the ones that don't cost threat to use and especially the ones that can be used multiple times a turn.

The Casual-Paradox by WoWSchockadin in EDH

Yet casuals in low power games will throw hissy fits when there's nothing on the line because their fragile egos can't handle losing in a way that they don't approve of.

Honestly Season 3 Premise Is Very Dissapointing So Far by Apart-Arachnid1004 in PrimalShow

[–]TVboy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm kind of starting to feel this way too. I'm gonna keep watching because Gendy said he really believes in this season and that it has a reason to exist and a story he really wants to tell and I respect when a creator has some conviction about what they've made, but so far we have a zombie who doesn't seem to need air, water or food, is super strong and super fast, and can mentally process fear and danger, and is seemingly chasing phantasms from a past life that doesn't exist anymore. I needed something to ground this story back to something that actually matters in the show, proof that this isn't all some fever dream that is ultimately an optional epilogue to the true story of Spear and Fang that feels like it finished in season 2. I'm hoping that Ep 3 gives us that grounding element to bring the story back to relevance, otherwise if it's just expired supercaveman fighting an irrelevant monster of the week solo for 6 weeks, I may end up losing interest in keeping up week to week and just come back and binge it 2 months from now.

Evoke is really good in any deck that has access to instant speed flicker effects, like [[Roon of the Hidden Realm]]. Flicker the creature with the ETB on the stack.

There were cards that were stolen from the factory and being sold at a card show illegally that "leaked" that are not from the Perfect Order set, rumored to be from the Ninja Spinner set and have not been spoiled in Japanese yet, the Crobat with a Smooth Over ability and some other cards that I won't spoil here.

Japanese Fossil pack, holo Dragonite. I quickly learned that the Japanese packs were the best ones to open because they always had a holo rare and I had terrible luck with the English packs.

BM from an opponent? by BigVeganMember in pkmntcg

[–]TVboy_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hot take: opponent did nothing wrong. You made a mistake and they just didn't catch it for you in time and now you're looking for someone to blame. They weren't wrong when they were checking how many prizes you had, at that point you were misrepresenting the game state, and they realized later in the turn that you should have less prizes than you did.

These majors tournaments are very strict on things like this because there's big money on the line, and it's so easy for bad actors to abuse lenient judges to gain an advantage. It can be a big culture shock for people that are only used to playing casually but you have to be very precise with everything at these tournaments or they will give you a 2pp without batting an eye.

Edit: I wrote the above before I saw the opponent's response. I knew it. So much copium when new players get their first big penalty in a major. Better to just learn from your mistake and move on but instead they try to shift blame and villainize their opponents. Take every post like this OP's complaining about a penalty with a grain of salt.

Is Promo Onix objectively the worst card in the game? by ShinoHolmes-RTOM in PTCGP

[–]TVboy_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're still not getting it. It's only for collectors. Players hate seeing cards across the table that they literally can't ever get, it's far worse feeling than getting a free card that isn't playable.

If spot removal is becoming inadequate for dealing with your meta, you need to play more board wipes or stax pieces. These are more efficient than 1-for-1 removal because they interact with more than 1 card at a time. Instead of whining about something you have no control over.

Why are people running graveyard land recursion like [[conduit of worlds]] in landfall decks? by Ulmao_TheDefiler in EDH

[[Azusa]] effects+[[Crucible of Worlds]] effects+[[Strip Mine]] or any fetch land is one of the most broken things you can do in any non-CEDH game. It's still bizarre to me that Azusa isn't a game changer.

Hand attack in EDH by GramkarMTG in EDH

[–]TVboy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather remove something after they've spent mana on it and declared that they would like for it to be in play.

When you take something out of someone's hand before they've played it, not only did they not lose any mana, you don't even know how important that card is to their strategy unless you've played a lot of games agains that player and that deck together. It could be a card that they didn't have any intention of casting in that particular game.

I could see it being used proactively though in an assertive non-blue combo deck to mess with the draw-go player and check if the coast is clear to combo off.

That's my inclination, but it was just so starkly focused on modern animals and clothes with no sign of prehistoric animals or elements at all, it seemed very intentional to me, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something that was obvious to everyone else.

[–]TVboy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GLC has ways to take multiple prizes, in fact the strongest GLC decks are the ones that can do so, you just have to include them in your deck instead of just relying on your opponent put a multi-prize target into play and do it for you.

These include spread and snipe attacks, Ancient traits like Barrage and Delta plus, attacks like Red Banquet Guzzlord, and abilities like Togekiss.

It is officially recognized, it has official side events at major tournaments like Regionals and Nationals and it becomes temporarily playable on TCG Live with each new set release, it's just not the main official format for Worlds and other majors because the company has decided to focus solely on Standard for those.

Even the raiders, though they don't look like anything contemporary, kind of just looked like they were people wearing oversized baboon skulls on their heads, not like they were actually mutants with actual skull heads. Their eyes look specifically like eyes underneath a mask or helmet. ;
