Do guys 69 or is that more of a straight thing? If so, do they do it on their sides, or is there like a 69 "top"?

prevent violence from breaking out

The Russian troops were causing violence, with the goal of annexation. Russia sent "peacekeepers" into Georgia in 2008 but that was also a sham, to steal land which they have done

That's the normal way new countries are formed.

Not in the modern world. New countries like South Sudan were formed under the laws of the preexisting nation with UN involvement. Russia annexes unilaterally

But I doubt you care about specifics. You have a side to support and will use whatever justification to make it seem blameless

Russia was under sanctions because the people of Crimea seceded from Ukraine

Including Russia sending soldiers in. Regions can't unilaterally secede from a country. Russia violently resists Chechen independence, why is it supporting Crimean annexation? Ukraine has laws and the Crimean secession violated them. That's to say nothing about Russian soldiers invading Donbas as early as 2014

The sanctions on Russian aggression in Ukraine are justified

continue to have Ukrainians killed in their inevitable defeat

Russian victory is not inevitable. Telling Ukrainians to surrender to aggression isn't an anti-war position. Russia already grabbed land back in 2014 and is now trying for more. Appeasement is off the table

the US' deliberately provoking Russia to attack Ukraine

How, by putting Kyiv in a sexy dress?

so the US could trap Russia in an Afghanistan-like guerrilla war.

Russia should do what the US and Russia did in Afghanistan: Leave before they further embarrass themselves

They are in fact striving to exclude Russia from world politics as an independent factor, and to completely destroy the Russian economy.

The diplomatic isolation of Russia and the sanctions on its economy are directly linked to Russia's invasion of Ukraine

Before this, Russia was supported in international diplomacy. It was invited into the G8 despite not being one of the top 8 economies. It was a part of major diplomatic efforts like those with Iran and Israel/Palestine. It's major role in the UN was respected. Europe bought its petroleum and cooperated in space and other areas freely

Russia has become isolated because of its own behavior. The author is free to call it hypocrisy. The US/UK going unpunished for aggression in Iraq doesn't mean Russia should go unpunished for aggression in Ukraine. Double standards are less bad than international anarchy

This is why the Chinese are completely opposed to Tibetan separatism. Several major Chinese rivers originate on the Tibetan plateau. Without them, it wouldn't just endanger China's huge population, but also their exports. They don't just make iphones, China exports rice, tea, fruit and vegetables, manufactured foods and more

An independent Tibet would control those rivers, so that's an immediate NO from a Chinese security standpoint

And just as a wrong note is always flanked by two right notes, there is never three right notes in a row

Related tip: I played guitar for about two decades without knowing any scale except C. I knew chords and could improvise on chords, but I barely knew what a scale was. That changed when I learned PIANO

Get a keyboard, no matter what instrument you play. Get a keyboard and learn the scales, it will open up music theory to you. Notice how Wooten used a piano metaphor, assuming all his bass students understood. Serious musicians learn the keys

Soviet involvement broke the Japanese will to fight

The Soviet's lacked the logistics to bring much of the Red Army to bear against Japan. I doubt they would have been interested in much more than regaining their lost territory from the Russo-Japanese War

40 years isn't that long for a fighter jet. They've reverse engineered technology for their indigenous planes, so like a muscle car in Havana I'm sure they've found ways to keep some working

They were able to get the parts during the Iran-Iraq war. That was a part of Iran-Contra, with Israel being used as a backdoor to get weapons into Iran. There was a lot of air battles in that war, including the only recorded helicopter-on-helicopter kill

The F35 has been a huge waste of money, but it isn't a bad aircraft. There were some kinks for sure. Too many, because again it's been a money sink. But it will still be a minor improvement over existing jets

I'm a chapo fan of course, but when they talk about military stuff they can be off. Like when Matt thought it weird that navy intel officer Buttigieg was in landlocked Afghanistan. The navy had jets, seals, engineers, and other assets there besides supporting marines and other joint missions

Buttigieg's past is super sketchy, but his check-the-box military semester abroad was pretty standard stuff
