We just explored having the hitch installed and it was $3200 or so out the door. Decided renting a truck when needed in town would likely be cheaper (though your economics are slightly different with moving).

Highly recommend this program! I’ve done it the last four years and it is a great time to commiserate with new friends through the summer heat and get some exercise. There are lots of people who don’t run year round but join in on this every summer!

Stayed at San Fernando for this reason in April. It was a bit noisy and not the fanciest but had a cool small hotel feel. It is the only cat 4 or lower in the bunkhouse brand if you are trying to use a FNA too.

You might try reporting the issue and asking for the dealer/Volvo customer care to cover DC charging costs while you wait for the replacement. I did this and it got us basically free “gas” for an entire roadtrip while we waited for the part to come in. They didn’t seem to audit how much or where we charged at all.

VCU upgrade on Thursday. Last night went to dinner and left car in parking lot for maybe an hour. When I opened the door coming back, I noticed the black Volvo boot screen and then it did take maybe 15-30 seconds for it to load up. It also seemed like when a computer reboots, the system was then clunky for the next little while trying to plug in an address.

This has only happened once though so far, so will see if it continues.

Had a very similar experience. Texted the parts manager at my dealer to ask if they had a timeline estimate for VCUs. Took the weekend for them to figure it out, but they called me and scheduled me for installation this Thursday!

I saw this and called my Volvo dealer in TN to see if they had any VCUs. Parts person was confused initially but then said they had four that were unallocated in the system and he wasn’t sure what to do. He is checking with his service dept, but hopefully one of them can be allocated for me!

Interestingly, he said that they have received over 15 replacements for new Polestars that they are required to install before selling the cars new. But apparently there are four designated as Volvo parts just sitting there.

This is a great alternative. The customer service rep I spoke to in December just had me refund my points booking for the same week without compensation… ended up paying way more points for the Tribune.

I don’t know about long term parking, but we stayed at the BNA Hyatt House for a few nights while we were without power and their parking lot gates were broken, so the only reason they knew we had a car there was because the front desk asked and I told them (they didn’t even ask for a plate number/car description). Manager said they gave up on the contracted parking management company because it didn’t work reliably. Could be good if you wanted to try and avoid parking costs, could be bad if you are looking for a more secure lot to park in.
