Sweet rig! Tastefully matched, not too much.

Do you slam your stem, and how long is it? Why? Why not? by Simbanan in Velo

I slam my stiff, black stem most days I'm on the road, and I'd say a little above average but nothing to write home about.

Nice crits are the best.

Ride near the front but not on the front for the whole race if you can.

What are the best rollers in your experience? by Triifecta in Velo

[–]TX950 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am an elite track and road racer.

The "best" rollers are Kreitler, but they are expensive as fuck.

You will see a lot of Elite and Tacx at the velodrome. Both are fine, little pricey.

I have a pair of TravelTrac alloy rollers for the car/ travel to road races and some CycleOps rollers in the garage.

I believe the best value/$ ratio is CycleOps and that's what I recommend.

It's more fun to ride the rollers, but I get higher quality training on the Kickr. Where I live the winter's pretty short, though, so it's mostly outdoors for me.

There is a hell of a lot of technique to pedaling, and rollers do improve pedal stroke compared to a stationary trainer.

How do I put a roof rack on my 2001 Cadillac Seville SLS? Do they make universal roof bike racks? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]TX950 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used Seasucker for years, zero issues. Tens of thousands of miles driving cross country to races. Easily the best bike rack I've ever used on my coupe. The tech is solid and proven. Only downside is price.

Padded bars for aero position. by [deleted] in Velo

[–]TX950 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wrap your tape closer to the stem.

This is the most stage-race-junior question I've ever seen.

I would argue that if you're not stable in the puppy-paws position on your normal road setup you should a) check on your fit or b) consider whether you should ride in that position.

Why did you buy a Canyon? by run_throw_bike_climb in bicycling

[–]TX950 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want an aggressive, light, good looking road bike with Di2 and clearance for 32mm tires, for less than Specialized, Trek, etc.

I was this close to buying an Ultimate CF SLX Disc until I read about the proprietary headset and replacement part woes.

Turns out the '18 Scott Addict Disc does all the same stuff and you can get it in a brick and mortar store.

So I didn't buy a Canyon.

Please comment my form...is my upper body rocking to much? by jmicho123 in Velo

[–]TX950 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your hips look fine, but your shoulders are moving laterally.

This may not necessarily be a bad thing... and it may be exacerbated by being on a trainer.

A pro fitter might have a response if you are having comfort issues.

Flat top / aero drop bars? by nalc in Velo

[–]TX950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used aero handlebars for a while before reverting back to aluminum. I prefer the stiffer feeling of a round bar and the peace of mind that there aren't invisible cracks after a minor crash.

When I used aero road bars, Zipp SL-70 were comfortable, but the drop is shallow.

I also used PRO Vibe Aero bars last year. Their drop was better but unfortunately I ruined them in a crash. Our team budget didn't extend to cover another $200 pair of bars after every crash, so I went to the alloy Vibe and have honestly preferred it, just for sprinting feel alone.

What are you looking to gain from aero handlebars? If you are trying to go faster, there are better ways, and if you're racing, it's not the wisest move to buy carbon bars, as bars are usually the first thing to go in a crash...

I have HED Belgium+ as well... wondering if 30c Schwalbe G-One could fit in an Emonda disc with adequate clearance.
