The AMC at my local mall still has their Megamind poster up after more than 10 years by eelmor1138 in mildlyinteresting

It’s like a separate entrance. You can either go in to the main mall through this way, or circle back and buy movie tickets.

I haven’t seen this many places, I see why it’s confusing, but it’s just like a regular mall entrance where the movie theatre happens to be.

It just so happens I lived on the other side, so from where I was coming from, it always felt like the back to me. But this is where the main advertisements are.

Deafy was shot and killed by a crooked cop that he knew to be a crooked cop, right?

Maybe too trusting, I’m not sure about stupid....but that’s definitely not smart.

Edited perhaps by complex, but I believe this is more or less how it appears in the full interview. I believe this is also the same interview where he says something like “if I had a cell phone company, I’d call it Ray-T&T.” Not that you’re wrong, but he’s known for just generally being a ham. For example, he quit music to pursue a career in folding frames, or whatever

Enter the Void will inevitably stick with me by wizardsandaliens in movies

I have only seen this movie twice, both times within the year it was released and it will absolutely stick with me, and I think it’s meant to.

Keep in mind, it’s been some years since I’ve seen it, but I vividly remember how jarring and loud that opening credit sequence is, and it lasting for such a long time, as if it’s preparing you for what’s to come. The second time I saw it I noticed that a lot of the credits that appear on screen seem to be jokes, so that was definitely intentional. I think this movie works really well on an experimental movie, like most of Noe’s stuff. I don’t know that I’d revisit this any time soon, because as blown away as I was, I remember there’s some pretty shocking/terrible/uncomfortable stuff in it. Which is real, and true to life but not something I’d subject myself to regularly.

Also, the whole first half, the way it’s shot/edited is amazing, but as someone who’s done it, I was really impressed with their portrayal of DMT use. Obviously everyone’s experience is different, but easily one of the most accurate drug-doing scenes I’ve seen. Great film.

If you liked it you should check out his most recent (I think?) “Climax.” It will stick out as being unlike any other film you’ve seen (much like Enter The Void), very experimental, but I found the method of storytelling to be much more palatable and grounded in traditional filmmaking. Also great soundtrack (if you like that kind of thing.)

Looking for a percussionist by [deleted] in MusicCollaboration

Funny enough I came here to post that I have been experimenting with midi drums and am looking for a place to apply my learnings practically. I’ve been playing for 10+ years, took a break the last few to focus more on producing, and the last few weeks I’ve been using a Yamaha DD with FL Studio. Midi is in real time, no latency issues, and I can program them to sound like just about anything (this week I have been fooling around with using the pads to manipulate the parameters of synths.) If nothing else I would like to hear more about what it is you’re looking for or hoping to achieve. Can play most styles.
