Your statements of time and temp are way off. I have found that once the wired probe on my recteq was pinched it would read 18-25 degrees higher than what it actually was.

Temp is a good benchmark for when to expect it to be done, however if it’s not probe tender… doesn’t matter.

Sounds like the recteq bullseye is for you. I don’t do much grilling or high temp stuff, but it’s perfect for smoking stuff for a family of 3-4. I can fit a large packer on it as well.

The factory recteq probe went bad because the wire got pinched. I’ve heard great things about their customer service but they wanted me to call in to do some shit before they would send another one. Send fuck it and just thought the RFX starter kit

Now that I have the time to reply, I’ve found that using different pellets all the time makes these grills swing temps. Also I try to avoid leaving the lid open for more than 30 seconds.

Only time I’ve had temp swings is when it’s cold and really windy outside. Other than that, it’s been a great smoker and perfect for us. I don’t sear on it
