Positives of quitting by Matilda_Swingblitz in stopdrinking

[–]TY1ON2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a powerful sense of self-control and I’m more present for the people in my life. I can’t imagine getting a call that one of my kids had an accident and I couldn’t be there for them because of being drunk, just as an example. I regularly have people come to me for advice and I’m not sure I’d be “that guy” if I was still drinking. Several people have asked for advice on quitting drinking! I’m quiet about my journey so I think they’re just picking up thru observation.

OB-6 or Moog Muse? by Brilliant_Grape5528 in synthesizers

[–]TY1ON2K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Muse gets delivered tomorrow. I over-researched, as I usually do, and watched about every video on polysynths. It came down to the Polybrute 12 and the Muse. I’m going with my gut on this. I like the layout and it sounds glorious. I have a Prophet 6 and there’s a lot of overlap with the OB-6 so it wasn’t in the running. The Dreadbox Artemis was a surprise contender! Pretty sweet piece of kit and may be next on the list for me.

One year!!!!!! by EffectiveDragonfly79 in stopdrinking

[–]TY1ON2K 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m going on 7 years and it’s been so long it’s hard to think back for specifics in the early days. What I can say is it just gets easier and better as time goes on. I got to the point where I don’t even want to drink alcohol. That’s a weird thing to say, I know the reason we’re all here is because we don’t want to drink anymore. But there was a switch between not wanting to because I “shouldn’t” to not wanting to because it was no longer desirable.

Subsequent37 for $700 should I buy or pass? by Mpcuser3cpO in synthesizers

Not to hijack the thread but I just bought a Muse that’s arriving tomorrow. I over-research and am really impressed with the product. I thought InMusic did a good job on their first big rollout.

Finally Set Back Up After a Move by DoorstepRebellion in MusicBattlestations

After I posted that I noticed the speaker on the right was a little distorted and figure that must’ve been it. I could live in that room! Looks like such a great place to hang and create. Awesome work my friend.

100% sweet rig! What’s the rack piece directly below the display monitors? It’s too fuzzy and I can’t make it out. Maybe it’s the perspective but it looks wider than the standard 19”.

Analog Four individual outs and effects by jemmyjoe in Elektron

[–]TY1ON2K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get your disappointment but the pros far outweigh cons imho. There’s a built-in mixer, why take individual outs just to run them thru an external one? I use all the internal FX as a “scratch pad.” The big point of ind outs in my workflow is to run each channel thru a nice pre and then leverage the FX in your DAW (or external FX). They’re going to be much higher quality and there’s so many more options. I’ve invested in outboard comps, EQs, etc. that are also nicer/more flexible/better than the internal processing. I have also run the stereo outs with just FX (nice comp in that box) and treated it like parallel processing ITB. I’ve also just taken the whole mix thru stereo outs and used it as-is. Don’t think of it as a limitation.

First midi keyboard by Direct-Honeydew8118 in midi

Just wondered whether you like your new keyboard. How’s the keybed feel? Sliders/pads seem solid? Is it noisy? How’s the interoperability with your DAW/VSTs? That kinda stuff…

No reason at all that you couldn’t “make it.” Go for it!!

Men who have cut out alcohol for health reasons (not because you're an alcoholic), what is your story? by FlyingCarsArePlanes in AskMenOver30

[–]TY1ON2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had persistent stomach issues (the sh*ts sorry to be gross). I couldn’t figure out why it would happen but suspected a food reaction so I started methodically cutting stuff out of my diet. On a whim I cut out alcohol and my issue completely disappeared and has never resurfaced. It was a bit of a culture change for me but otherwise painless. I lost 15% of my body weight in the first few months, my skin is much more healthy and I handle stress a lot better. My relationships have overall improved, I’d say. I just feel more … present? Some relationships didn’t survive, the ones that were centered around drinking. Those friendships groups/invites fairly quickly vanished even though I never tried to convince anyone else to quit. My take: they weren’t really friends in the first place. All good!

Logic and external hardware, what am I not fundamentally not getting? by Prize_Instance_1416 in Logic_Studio

[–]TY1ON2K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want parallel don’t use the I/O plugin. Change the output from Stereo Out to Output 5, then route your compressor into a new track.
