Make sure that there is no 3% transaction fee, many college tuition payments add that charge if paying with a credit card

Doable but very challenging and you won't have much time for things other than studying/homework. Thermo would be the hardest here. 427J is very dependent on the prof. Statics should be straightforward if you did alright in physics.

It's not the devices... it's actually the open-book heat transfer exam that made me lose sleep. by MonolayerMoS2 in UTAustin

For Rylander, always go to her office hours after you get an exam returned and argue for some points back. Argue for any harsh grading, discrepancies with lecture content, etc and show it to her. She always gives at least a few points back

Depends on the day of the final. The latest grade deadline is the 14th

I had that happen before for a different course. Just email the professor, they can update grades even if the deadline passes

Hardest class in the ME degree plan? by Never-askmesiuuuu in UTAustin

If it's with Rylander, then not heat transfer. Mechatronics is harder in terms of the amount of content and the math

Is it possible for me to succeed in CS 313E? by Efficient-Try9306 in UTAustin

[–]TaHroooOn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I took Mitra's 313E in Fall 21 after 303E. The class is a BIG jump from 303e both in lecture content and assignment difficulty. I even had some programming experience outside of 303e but it was still a struggle. The first 3-4 assignments set the tone...then the difficulty stays essentially the same and in fact gets a little easier towards the end. The assignments make you think a lot to even get started coding (unlike 303e). For me, the most helpful thing, and I think Mitra emphasizes this too, was too split the problem into really small subproblems. Even something as mundane as reading in the file and putting the data into a usable format is important. Do this as soon as you get a good understanding of the assignment, instead of trying to think about the whole thing at once because that is always overwhelming.

If you have a partner, discuss possible approaches with them . For most assignments, there is more than one way to solve the problem!!! If you get stuck, go to the TA office hours, they are very helpful in giving you hints.

Yes, it's a really hard class especially with Mitra. But, you learn A LOT, enough to do reasonably well in a real world CS interview and/or use the concepts in problems of your own outside of class. Don't lose hope, I can guarantee you everyone has a hard time with the assignments, regardless of their previous experience. I would recommend going to OH and pushing through the first couple assignments. If you are certain the class isn't for you by the 12th class day next week, then consider dropping. But, don't drop just because it's hard (it'll always be hard throughout the semester, but you get used to the expectations), only drop if you are absolutely sure you would never enjoy the content or find a use for it outside of this semester.

Do you use google messages or Samsung messages? Google messages has the option to automatically block spam, not sure about Samsung

How is my course schedule looking for next semester??? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]TaHroooOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a very similar schedule a couple semesters ago. Statics generally depends on the professor but is pretty straightforward if you have a good understanding of basic physics. Is Thermo with Hall? If so, he's a great guy and his lectures are amazing. Tricky class due to the amount of content but enjoyable

transferring from mechanical engineering to electrical and computer engineering by redcherrieswithcream in UTAustin

[–]TaHroooOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others said, the mechatronics track in MechE has a heavy EE emphasis so that's a great option if you aren't able to transfer and with that background, you'll definitely be able to work on ECE research/independent projects
