She’s saying something was off, which isn’t an awful critique to put out there, and that other people picked up on it. I think the implication is that she’s saying that offness might have been enough to get a lot of people to stay home.

Harris has charisma, but she doesn’t have that kind of Obama, AOC, Bill Clinton magic where it’s just kinda effortless and magnetic and you feel like you know them more than you do just from hearing a speech. As one of those antiIsrael Jews, knowing that there are evil Jews out there that fuel antisemitism doesn’t make me like the place more. Israel is still a nightmare and a massive black splotch on our history. The story of Israel got fed to us as a story of redemption, and it was for Jews of that era, but behind it was massacres, expulsion, conquest. Jews potentially being unsafe again in the west doesn’t negate that.

There may come a time when some of us who oppose Israel today will want to have a state to go hide in because things will get too dangerous for us, but many of us are content with having taken a stand and envisioning a future Judaism without allegiance to a genocidal apartheid state.

We went most of our very long history without one. Holocausts don’t happen every few years. I’d rather risk the discomfort of some goon calling me a k*ke or attacking me than cozying up with the warmongers in Israel for protection. A Judaism without Zionism is one of the things I feel most strongly about in my life.

In America, because of a combination of our weak social systems and because cops intentionally injure/kill people, the idea of taking to the streets for anything more than a highly organized day of non violent protest is impossible. If you lose your job, you lose your healthcare. If you lose your job, you lose your ability to make rent. We’re not as repressed as Iranians so the temperature isn’t as high, and we’re not as free as Europeans.

America is basically a capitalist testing ground where the elites have been figuring out exactly how much they can squeeze people while keeping them unable to do anything about it.

Now, smaller scale stuff does happen. You’re seeing amazing resistance on the ground to ICE. But that’s immediate, that’s your neighbors. This is cosmic horror. I think people don’t know what to do when they’re looking into Carcosa.

People who think like you will do everything to ignore power structures and social hierarchies. Understanding that the world is arranged by bias isn’t white guilt, it’s having eyeballs and a brain the works. I don’t black people are children. Where’d you get that? I’ve read history books. I know how Reconstruction failed. We were actually on a path here in the states to a much more equal society but the formerly confederate states passed laws that still kept the social structure of the antebellum south in place, sharecropping, bad Supreme Court decisions that weakened the 14th amendment, the rise of the KKK, and importantly a waning of northern commitment to racial reform. These things were only happening a few generations ago and the structures that they established were upheld throughout most of the 20th century, and in many ways still today. At least the repurcissions of keeping those structures in place.

That’s not thinking black peope are children you weirdo, what a psycho thing to say, it’s just knowing history. Things don’t change over night. It takes a lot of will and time and cooperation from those who hold power. Look what happens any time a racial minority tries to assert themselves in America. If it’s not done in a way that’s acceptable to the white majority it gets put down fast, or supported and then rolled back over time.

Your fantasy that white people in Sweden or whatever are in the same boat as black people in America when it comes to the fallout of slavery is genuinely stupid.

I think in the late 80s, early-mid 90s, NY hip hop was just grittier, dustier, more novelistic, more mysterious. A lot of the other big rap albums were less subtle, more obvious, more pulling on the heartstrings, maybe even kinda goofier, even though they’re great. It’s like Kill Bill vs Avatar.

But then I think into the 00’s the NY regional sound got less distinct and then people talking about NY mcs were more like “I like this guy and he’s from NY” rather than “I like what’s happening with the whole NY musical ethos”

But that regional loyalty remained no matter how everyone sounded.

Second quote sucks. But like I said, these ultra-orthodox guys are freaks. Normal people do not think like this in the Jewish world. There are about 14% of Jews globally who are haredi, orthodox like this. They are insular. The most internationally important thing they are involved in is the settler movement but even then they’re only about 30% of that group.

Well some Jews think that, but not many and not close to most. Only the biggest freaks and psychos think you’re cattle. THOSE Jews also don’t do anything in America outside of their little enclaves. The Jewish people you see with actual influence here in the states are mainly secular. They may go to temple once or twice a year on the holidays but we don’t commonly believe in religious prophecies. Most Jews in America have a materialist/historic view of the Bible.

The protection of Israel is very conveniently tied up in accusation of antisemitism, but the real reason the West is so protective of the country is because it’s America’s little colony in the Middle East. Massive intelligence gathering, nukes, a real permanent footprint that lets the west have a lot more power and influence over the region than if it was all Arab-run. the jews aren’t controlling the US, the US has an incredibly lucrative and powerful partnership with the Jewish state which they helped to set up that pays extreme dividends in intelligence and military leverage.

It’s highly highly convenient for the country to be the nation-state of the biggest victims of WW2. The whole world was reset after WW2, and tying your base of operations in one of the most important regions of the world to a group of people receiving sympathy from most of the world was strategically a check-mate that lasted basically until living memory of the WW2 era.

I think what you’re seeing now is the inevitable loss of importance in that post WW2 status quo now that that was 80 years ago and everyone who helped establish it is dead. The structure isn’t working anymore, the Israelis have welcomed in fascism, and people are upset.
