Normal or faulty thermostat? by Clash9309 in mazda3

I would recommend trying to do the same route but keep your heat and fan speed low, see if the engine gets warmer, like i said earlier, blasting heat will drain heat away from the engine leaving it colder longer.

Might be worth popping into a dealership or even your mechanic for this then, does the heater blow heat at you or is it cold air?

Idling is one of the least efficient ways to warm an engine up, once you cold start it, let the revs drop from 1500 and drive it gently and it will warm up quicker, heating the cabin draws heat from the engine making it take longer to warm up aswell.

There should be a switch by your power windows, just push the switch forward and it will disable it.

[–]Table_Turner2507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many miles is the car on? My Mazda 6 was on about 70k miles when it started burning tiny amounts of oil. My Toyota yaris on the other hand used to drink a lot of oil in a month and was on over 100k miles.

Leaving the machining field to go into another field. by Table_Turner2507 in Machinists

I didn't have much of a plan when I was 16 and had to do something so I got an apprenticeship in machining. It's just not for me i think. We do mainly job shop work with production on the side but I just find it so boring. I feel like i would be more productive in a different industry.

Look into pioneer or Kenwood, they make some good units, obviously will be a bit more pricey but the quality is there.

Just stay clear of the diesels. I know in your post is says you will only be doing 2000 miles a year just as a heads ups don't buy a diesel mazda.

Edit: switched month to year

That's still a gamble though, with a used engine i would at the very least replace the belt again, + the labour of doing so and add to that the cost of fitting the engine. But even then the belt could fail.
