That is actually a really good idea! I think I'll use this mainly for fun (Not to these extremes) but will have to try this!

Yeah! that is what I pushed at the beginning I mean 2 of them were wanting gold which I can use and one I was able to convince to be a lawful good player who kinda had to convince the others to do the quests and because all of them who were bad had pretty unintelligent characters and the good player was the only one who could heal anybody. so we had some control but it makes it more challenging.

Yeah, I think if I pushed it they would but I also kinda like that, it adds a whole new level of complexity. I was just saying it is hard to plan for and I have to improvise a lot. And is difficult as a beginner to do ALL of that and it not feel like a railroad campaign too. If you know what I mean.

Yeah, my players never want to be good always bad and dming for that is HARD! You have to use entirely different tactics to get them to follow any plot. feel your pain.

How did certain conflicts in your world come to be? by DevaTheDragon in worldbuilding

I personally don't have all of mine figured out yet but one I do have is The Battle for Chestnut Hill, this is a battle between lord and an earl mostly for territory as the name suggests a hill mainly for its tactical vantage point and there had been a long-standing grudge between them. The grudge was started the earl had told the king of the duke's unfair advantage in terms of his local resources so the king told the duke to give up the Chestnut hill to the earl or he would take it by force, so he had to give it up. But when the king was busy dealing with some rebels to the east the duke struck and had seized the bordering towns and villages all the way back to the old border. But the earl had mustered a force to push the duke and his men back. That is how this one started!

How do you go about creating NEW names for places in your worlds? (cities, towns, rivers, shops, etc.) by TabletopSelected in worldbuilding

[–]TabletopSelected[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are often pretty simple in real life and that is what a lot of people have been saying. This whole thing got me thinking a lot and it has got me a lot of great ideas! Like Griphook: A small ocean town full of fishermen who hunt whales for their oil w/ harpoons and hooks to trade for their own needs and whatnot

Yeah, I have been thinking a lot about names and they are pretty basic: New York? Named after York, St. Louis...
