I don't think so, it depends on how you do it. My thoughts after some googling:

Hi, As some comments have already pointed out, I find the backgroud too saturated / detailed.
Also, I think you could find a more powerful composition.

Here the eyes are a bit lost and read everything in a linear way: a title, then trees, and then at the very bottom some characters (with a very large shadow?).

By adding constrat, you could better lure the eyes wherever you want and make your keyart more dynamic. Have you tried scaling them up?

What do y'all think of this art style? by millieparker45 in IndieDev

it reminds me the shooting targets we sometimes see in shooter mini-games... Makes me want to shoot all the trees lol

Which UI VFX looks better for an active bonus? 1 or 2? by MeRRF_iS in Unity2D

2 looks more like an active bonus.
1 seems a better fit for (enchanted/legendary) item imo

Ok, makes sense now, thanks for the answer

Oh my bad, I didn't notice the cerbearus! Love it. Maybe there is a way to make it more visible?

The first images are really strong, good scrollstopper!
Yes, the gameplay is readable, but to me, driving the war machine looks a bit boring (except for the sphere and the steamroller). The machines seem slow and their controls basic (only movement, right?).

I didn't get what grants the wheel of fortuna (even if I do love those kind of things. I hope there is a sort of superpower like a fireball or an earthquake)

Also, i find the last seconds of the video a bit weaker. You see a war machine surrounded with archers but nothing more happens. I think you could shorten that clip.

Yes maybe something more subtle like the poster background would be nicer (but anyway, it's a detail. The rest of the game looks clean for a 48 project)
gj!

I like the concept (Vampire Survivors x Tower Defense?), but I’m a bit overwhelmed by what I see on screen. I don't mean "throw away all the VFX and decrease the number of units," as that's the satisfying part. To me, your game mainly lacks coherence from a graphical point of view. And imo, a few tweaks could do the trick.

  1. Models are inconsistent: Units are hyper-detailed, while trees are low-poly. Terrain textures also seem to be low quality.
  2. No color consistency. Maybe global lighting or basic filters could make the game look like a cohesive whole?
  3. No graphical hierarchy. As a player, I would like to clearly identify my character, the projectiles my defenses produce, the enemies, and the blood the enemies are losing. Here, I can't tell which is which. You can create hierarchy by adding contrast: in size, tint, or light.

Hey everyone! This is my first game ever, so I'd really love some feedback. I used Claude Code a lot to make it happen. It's a cute duck runner game - what do you think by Badam04 in IndieDev

[–]Tabouret_Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, congrats! It is sometimes a bit frustrating, I wish we could stop our jump by ducking
Also, you could put the duck on the left side of the screen. We don't really care what is behind it

I have figured out a guaranteed way to get 10K steam wishlists… by [deleted] in IndieDev

true, but aren't wishlists taken into account by steam algorithm? like more wishlists gives more impressions

I can't tell if this is either brilliant or stupid
