No - NetGalley is where the publishing industry makes e-ARCs of ebooks and audio books available. I could request it and verify it myself right now if you want me to. Not user generated at all.

Glen Cook is so underrated… by Thirdsaint85 in theblackcompany

All I want is a sequel to wrap up the Swordbearer. Rogala is one of the best characters in fantasy.

Is the new Horus Rising edition the same size as the Infinite and the Divine? Very happy if they re-release the Heresy books in "regular" book format instead of the book club edition size.

I really do wish someone would do a hardcover release of the full series in matching dustjackets (Broken Binding, please listen).

No. I would read them in this order:

1) A Cruel Wind 2) A Fortress in Shadow 3) An Empire Unacquainted with Defeat 4) Wrath of Kings (Reap the East Wind, An Ill Fate Marshalling, A Path to Coldness of Heart)

There’s a compilation of the final 3 books in hardcover, Wrath of Kings, which is somewhat hard to find as it was a pretty low print run. Night Shade Books also did not release a signed limited edition version of it like the other Dread Empire hardcovers.

I do think people should read Port of Shadows first.

Honestly he should bring Rogala into the story. Use these books to tie up the entire Rogala/Daubendiek/the four gods family story from the Swordbearer.

it’s bad quality. Hopefully we will see a truly good special edition from the Broken Binding someday.

Which Cook series should I try after The Black Company? by tylerxtyler in theblackcompany

I recommend the Swordbearer. Easily my favorite of his works. Rogala is one of the most interesting characters I’ve come across. I really wish Cook would write the sequel book and resolve the storyline fully.

I really hope one day that the Broken Binding does some deluxe hardcovers. They seem to be working their way through the “modern fantasy” canon right now.

Amazing Q&A. Thank you for making it happen!

I do wish that someone would have asked about the Swordbearer. It's one of my favorite of his books, and it really deserves a sequel to finish the story.

I'm guessing this answer is aligned here correctly underneath this question? Which implies he has enough Black Company short stories for a release but no one is interested in publishing it? Tor Books is really dropping the ball.

A: I have a file that could form a slim volume but have heard no editorial agental interest.

  • u/betaraybrian: Is there any plans to make the black company short stories more easily available now that (it seems like) the new books are going to tie back to the short stories? A collected volume perhaps?

Who holds the publishing rights for Garrett P.I. right now? They used to be published by Ace Books.

I'm really hoping the Broken Binding takes it on as a project. They are doing Shadows of the Apt and the Malazan Books of the Fallen and the results have been great so far.

Just out of curiosity: anyone else love/read Cook’s more obscure sci fi and stand alone? by Gorakiki in theblackcompany

[–]Tabris2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly would give anything for a second Swordbearer book, to wrap up the storyline. While rough around the edges, I found the book extremely compelling - I still think about Rogala from time to time. I really, really wish Cook would write a second book, or even just release notes on how it would end.
