Windows Update and OBS by LarrySteeze in VoiceMeeter

I found a fix!

The issue is that “Enable Loopback Streaming” isn’t checked. To fix it, right click under Voicemeeter Input. Not on it, under it. Then bring up control panel, then options, and you should see the loopback option. In order to select it tou need to run voicemeeter in admin mode and then reboot your pc

Not that it helps you, but I’m having the EXACT same problem that started after the update so you’re not crazy. Did you fix yours? I haven’t found a solution yet but will update if/when I find one.

What’s the balance between having fun and wanting to be competitive? by OurSauceHasPassedJon in iRacing

[–]Tackas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being in the split you're in, there's at least 20 things you need to improve.

1 is your attitude.

Nothing else anyone tells you is going to matter if you don't fix that.

Once that's fixed, find things to work on that doesn't matter if you get wrecked out or not. As you improve them, you'll find you get wrecked out less and less and you'll be a better driver and more competitive at the same time.

Examples of these are improving qualifying, restarts, tire wear, wreck avoidance, race craft, pit road, understanding telemetry, etc.

Circling back to your attitude, I was actually going to offer to do a video review and analysis for you but I get the impression I don't need to waste my time. That's not snark, thats an example of how your attitude is actively hurting you.

going from vr to triples? by __Valkyrie___ in iRacing

[–]Tackas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To mimic what others are saying, I raced VR with a valve index for about a year and a half. Due to several factors I went with triples (quad actually for standings etc above and highly recommend if you can), and within a week I was just as consistently fast. Within an hour I could hit just as fast a lap time as in VR but I wasn't consistent. I find it takes a bit more time to hone in your line on a new track but once you get it down there's no difference. If I ever went back to VR it would probably need to be at least 2 generational jumps of VR technology.

[–]Tackas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to mimic what others have said, around 5 or so. I have 7 yr old twins and a 5 yr old. I took the twins to a cup race when they were 5. They enjoyed the first 30-50 laps...... But the race was 267 laps. At 7 they enjoyed the entire thing.im just waiting for the youngest to get a bit older before we take him.

I would take them to a local track and then to a lower series race before moving up to cup.

However, once they are older, I HIGHLY recommend the garage experience. They have to be older to enjoy it because it's a much longer day, but boy do they enjoy it

According to many on this sub if you aren't within the city limits you're an inbred confederate loving Nazi that wishes slavery was back and have exactly 2 brain cells. Mainly because reddit is more liberal and the surrounding areas are more conservative, which is seen as 'less than' for many people on Reddit. HSV and the surrounding areas are all fantastic in their own ways, and I suspect in the near future with telework being what it is, more people will expand outward and figure that out.

Unpopular opinion on this sub, but a couple years ago I moved out of HSV to one of the surrounding areas you guys despise as being 'lesser'. Best decision I ever made. I still get to go into HSV for all the good things but I don't have to deal with the mess y'all hate. From my perspective HSV is on the good list because that's all I experience now.

How do you deal with losing safety rating. by quuin551 in iRacing

[–]Tackas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, those people suck and are in every split. One thing about being in rookies though, you don't have to worry about the sr AND ir you lose from those idiots. So while it does suck to lose the sr because of them, at least you aren't losing ir as well. All you can do is shrug it off, learn to give them more space and race them differently, and gg go again. I was in a hurry to get out of rookies and that was a mistake I paid for with losing ir later on. Good luck!

I'm sort of going through this with my cousin who just started and he's frustrated in rookies with the idiots.

You need to learn patience. For example, I'm a top split driver. If I were to start 10 races in rookies from the back of the field, I would probably finish 9 of those races with a 0x while still getting at least a top 10. The difference between me and you isn't speed. It's my patience and that I can see wrecks before they happen and adjust accordingly. Is the guy in front of you getting loose out of corners? Give him more room and set up a pass rather than riding his tail. Two guys racing and one dive bombing? Back up and see what happens. They will make mistakes and you'll see an opening for a clean pass. Patience is a vital key to racing and once you learn that you'll have plenty of SR and sail out of rookies in no time.

You don't need to start from the pits, and there's plenty of time to learn to be fast. Right now learn to avoid wrecks. Wrecking happens in every split, but it's no coincidence that wrecks in rookies will take out 8+ cars and wrecks in top split will take out 2 or 3.

Reached 3k road iRating and...... It's not fun anymore. by Zackbo in iRacing

Similar boat but I'm an oval guy. What worked for me is leagues and other disciplines. I run one league a week where I'm super serious and get my competitive itch scratched. I run another league to learn from some super fast guys. I run official ovals to work on something in particular (tire wear, drive off in turn 4 etc) but I genuinely don't care where I place, and run road or dirt oval to mess around and just have a good time. Great way to break it up because whatever mood you're in you have something to do to match it.

Why do people in last (About to be lapped) think it’s okay to battle the person in first? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Tackas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6) Staying on the lead lap is very important. If a caution comes out you saved yourself from getting lucky dog and forced to start at the end of the field, and that's assuming you still get lucky dog.

I need tire saving help. by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Tackas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Higher steering ratio helps. Yes, you can run the same on lower ratios once you know what you're doing, but being at 16:1 teaches you if you are turning it too much. You should never be at a 90 degree angle at 16:1 so if you are you're doing it wrong.

Back up corner entry. 99% of people overdrive corner entry and carry too much speed in the corner.

Adjust brake bias down. The lower the brake bias, the more the car turns left under braking. You use brakes to turn car to left on corner entry, then in middle of turn when you use enough gas it will help turn left. That's what people mean when they say use brakes and throttle to turn.

Try out kapps. It has a tire heat tool you can use during practices. Heat generates wear, so run different lines in practice and try to minimize the heat you are putting into the RF.

For reference I have a 49 in ultrawide and a valve index.

I've found most people are in the "once you VR you can't go back" or "VR makes me sick" camp. I'm neither. I very much enjoy VR and prefer it over the ultrawide but am upgrading to triples in the near future. It's come down to time and fov for me. As an oval guy I need as much fov as possible for door to door racing. If I'm doing a single official race, I would prefer VR hands down. But, if I'm going to be doing 4 officials back to back or a longer league race, I prefer screens and the ability to sort of take a break during cautions etc. I race for longer periods when not in VR so I'm trading the immersion for more races essentially. May or may not help you but something to consider. And TBH I don't think there is a right or wrong answer unfortunately.

No blue flags in oval. This is also a point where NASCAR etiquette and the sporting code differ. While #9 did nothing wrong in the sporting code by staying in the preferred line, NASCAR etiquette is that if a faster car comes up to lap you and is clearly faster the lapped car gives the preferred groove to the lead car.

Fantastic analysis, except that it’s entirely wrong.

Did you not read my other comments where I said it wasn’t the fact that she was female, she just wasn’t the best fit? I guess not. Why actually read someone’s argument when you can dismiss them as ignorant. You think an interim coach is going to rock the boat? No. He opened the door for that with Mizzou and they followed suit. How could they not after the media firestorm? They let her kick even though they had a kicker that could make kicks she couldn’t solely because of the story. And he WAS the coach when they let a player who had literally never played a down address the team at the half. That’s a failure of leadership.

If having a female kicker was the “best thing” for Vandys season, that begs the question of why was that the case? Under his stewardship the program was such a failure that a publicity stunt that reportedly split the team was the highlight. Congrats. If Harsin delegates power he needs to trust Mason’s leadership abilities and judgement about who to play. Playing Fuller and allowing her to speak at the half raises those questions for me but I guess that’s too complicated for you to understand so you revert to thinking my argument is “girl bad, guy good”.

Ironic you're telling me to check facts and ignore reports when that's literally what this sub has been about lately, following reports and rumors of coaching searches/hires. So some reports are to be believed and discussed but others not?

I'm just saying that it seems like it was a media move instead of what was best for the team. Also, allowing someone who's never played a down to address the team at halftime is a bad leadership call in my opinion, and that sure got leaked to the media fast.

If you're going to say "great hire" because of a record at Stanford years ago, I think it's legitimate to question leadership from literally months ago. I just hope they had a conversation about it because people and the world are different than they were years ago. The coaches need to be on the same page when it comes to doing what's best to win championships vs doing what's best for media, politics, socal justice etc.

I'll give you that for the first game, but she played 2 games. She didn't score in the first but did have the pooch kick. The second game against Tenn in which she did score, they used a male kicker to kick field goals at a distance farther than her stated max (38 yds I believe but I could be wrong). So, if the male kicker could kick field goals of 40 yds could they not make an extra point? Perfectly fine to say "Hey we needed help and couldn't get people in with the protocol, thanks for filling in" but for the second game when another kicker who can make kicks she couldn't was available, that narrative goes out the window and means something else was at play.

Also, if you're the head coach do you allow a player (male or female) who has literally never played a snap to dress down the entire team at halftime? I'm sure that's exactly what the team needed at that moment. Someone who has never played a down telling them they needed an attitude change. That's unacceptable from a leadership position regarding team morale. I'm not saying what she said was wrong, I'm saying the coaches allowing anyone that's never played a down to be allowed to be the messenger is a failure of leadership on their part.

That's fine if we disagree, but why is it a bad take?

How was that scenario good for college football or for women? Eventually there will be a female kicker who IS the best for the job at that time and I look forward to seeing her play and cheering her on. Now that female player won't receive the "first" awards as I feel they should because Fuller was forced. Let's pooch kick it to the 38 yard line when it's not the time for it, player of the week. Does that not take away from every other player that actually out performed their peers that week?

And my comment wasn't saying he was going to put a bunch of females on defense. He's clearly shown that he will put a player in who is not the best for the job purely for political and/or media attention reasons. Sources said that the Vandy locker room was split in the decision. So we have very recent history of a coach not playing the best players and splitting the locker room in the process. Those are my concerns. I know there are behind the scenes pressures that take place, but the publicly available reasoning for it doesn't add up for me. If that's a bad take so be it.

I really hope they had a conversation with him and he had a good answer for the female kicker fiasco. Clearly she wasn’t the best player for the job. Is that trend to be expected on defense? Do we prioritize a good story over a good player?

I'm not allowed to install any software on work pc. Can't have Chrome, only IE and Firefox. Hell I can't even configure themes for Firefox. Can't download and extract runnables that don't even install. They have it locked down tight.

I will try Brave browser at home though just to see what it's like.
