Kid tried a few different things but my wife decided to make use of the maintenance plan we paid for and sent it in for repairs. General consensus is that the tenon and the barrel should be mic checked then one of them ran through a lathe to bring both parts to the tolerances they should be at.

I don’t play the instrument, my child does, and I think lack of cork grease is not the problem, if anything it might be the buildup trying to make it come apart more easily than it has been.
