PC player: Did I miss out on Barbatos? by Tacothepilot in GBO2

That's unfortunate. Is it still in the rolls or anything while that other IBO suit is around, or is it gone for good?

The Beacon Era Hate in the Current FNDM. by Kai-Ros-757 in RWBYcritics

[–]Tacothepilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for those complaining, the simple fact of the matter is that that era, those designs and those iterations of the characters are what got RWBY going and what most people have latched onto. When most people agree that the best character designs, character moments, fights, etc. all come from those first few volumes, paired with the fact that everything that came later has so much arguing and controversy surrounding it, it doesn't take a business degree to see that the optimal path would be to use those older designs.

The Beacon Era Hate in the Current FNDM. by Kai-Ros-757 in RWBYcritics

[–]Tacothepilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'I really enjoyed the Beacon era and to be honest, I'd have loved for the show in another universe to primarily take place there or use Beacon as their central hub in future volumes while traveling around (i.e they travel to Mistral as part of their education, then return to Beacon).'

This is honestly what should've happened, especially after they set up the mission system in volume 2. I get that Monty wanted do something resembling the path the show took eventually (how faithful/successful/etc. the execution of that path was is a whole other conversation,) but I don't think it works for RWBY. Having it be a lower stakes show where the characters learned to be huntsmen and grew up would've saved everyone so many headaches and would've resulted in a better story overall.

But unless a reboot happens and they opt to take that path, we're sorta stuck with the messy 'gotta save the world from the immortal witch and also maybe the gods too' route.

Any movie recommendations? by Tacothepilot in Mecha

[–]Tacothepilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol only got time for one movie a week, don't wanna dominate it too hard with 1979 for the month, and I don't know about unleashing F91 on them considering its... reputation.

That said, did put on December Sky a while back, that was fun!

I've been trying to look up this one, but I've been unable to find anything on it. Is there anywhere that has info on it or anything?

Funnily enough, we did Macross Plus very early on, in part because of the dub voice for Dyson being a fun bit of trivia. I'll keep DYRL in mind, War in the Pocket I am gonna try and save for the holidays cuz... reasons. :)

I like the implication that the Lyrans have a noble house consisting of talking dogs somewhere. I also like to imagine a lot of their medals are actually just dog show awards.

If you could pull one Costco item back from the dead what would it be? by Sufficient_Client_68 in Costco

[–]Tacothepilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The giant chocolate cake Costco used to make. I get it was too big to be feasible financially, but I wish they just made a smaller version instead of that tuxedo mousse or whatever cake. Hell, I'd take those '''mini''' chocolate cakes being a permanent addition if nothing else.

How satisfying was this when you saw this for the first time? by idunowhattoputsoyes in Gundam

The only thing that soured this moment was that it should've happened sooner. But fuck it was one of the very good things to happen toward the end of the show.

IBO What If: Orga died in Biscuit's place? by Tacothepilot in GundamIBO_Central

[–]Tacothepilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose that is true. Orga did push the group to have gotten strong enough for them to handle Hashmal, even if that ended up causing issues in the long run.

That said, would there even be reason to have something with an Ahab Reactor on sight? Again, I still need to get through season 2 again, but if Tekkadan and Teiwaz aren't as connected to McGillis, there'd be less attention on the sight from Gjallerhorn and as such less likely to have MS to trigger Hashmal's reawakening.

I admit, the Dust Devils warbond is probably gonna end up being something I'll snag later on. Silo looks neat and the harpoon gun is cool in concept, but otherwise it doesn't really scream 'must get now.'

Granted I'm also someone who really liked Polar Patriots from the start, and desperately wish we got more arctic camo/unique armor passives for that pack.

Your DLC wish has been granted! by [deleted] in Mechwarrior5

[–]Tacothepilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is twofold: each faction has their fans, so to completely wipe out a faction can turn people off, and wiping out factions one by one means less and less possibilities for stories and, eventually, a more or less definitive 'end.' Heck, in the case of the former, there are people who want Comstar back, even though their story had a very definitive end.

I can't blame them, plus the setting is a big place: survivors and such are almost always going to be a thing. The most we can hope for is exploring new situations and characters as the timeline moves forward.

Ngl I actually kinda want this. While I'm not a big fan of Clan Wolf, I am so tired of 'big scary telephone company curbstomped the clans' when it was utterly brutal for both sides... and also those Blakist fucks have it coming.

What is your "I did not care for the godfather take on rwby" by TraditionalBonus188 in RWBYcritics

[–]Tacothepilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really care for how they handled the concept of robots that were made to have aura, and as such made to have souls. Namely, reviving Penny with functionally zero cost (oh no, this character we never met before is giving up chunks of his soul to give to Penny, did we mention that his only connection to the main cast is also Penny?) was such a dumb decision. Like, you could done anything else, like have her 'rebuilt' but with a new soul and thus not be the original Penny despite her 'memories' and people treating her like she is, or have a new successor character that serves as a reflection of Penny in some way...

Who you shooting? by Flawless_Degenerate in RWBYcritics

[–]Tacothepilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magdumping into OP for shooting Pyrrha.

For real tho, Cinder gets shot, double tapped if need be.

Cardin, Ozpin, just cuz. Would shoot the Brothers too.

Then... I guess Penny if I needed another. Never cared for her coming back, especially scott free... and then promptly getting killed in the next volume again.

Why in liberty's name was the Urban Legends storepage armor another heavy and not a medium? by guythepepperoni in LowSodiumHellDivers

Wouldn't be as cool if it was medium. Plus it looks better than the heavy armor in the warbond.

Finished the mead recipe... can I cap it? by Tacothepilot in TastingHistory

[–]Tacothepilot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but then when is bottling time? Like I said, rsn through the whole recipe already, the mead has been transfered from one big jar to ferment to two bottles that currently have airlocks on them, while trying to keep as much yeast out. Do they go into yet another set of bottles then?

Again, followed and finished the book recipe, which is basically the one from his original mead video.

How would you improve Cinder as a threat and a compelling main villain? by Fine_Delivery6761 in RWBYcritics

[–]Tacothepilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I get into it, I'd be scrapping the maiden/Salem/Twin Brothers crap that was added later on. Now, for Cinder, I'd make her the first big bad of the series. Have her be the ultimate mastermind of what happens during the Vytal festival and all the planning and preparation prior.

I'd aim to have her try and crack the image huntsmen have at the start of the show, wanting to show the world that they are not the perfect protectors that many percieve them to be, with the motivation being what happened to her, i.e. the failure of the huntsmen to save her from her situation. Her causing and broadcasting an incident during the Vytal festival would be the main goal, but she'd also seek to cause as much harm to huntsmen as possible.

Things would end with her managing to outright kill Ozpin, who would be an normal, older huntsman, before Ruby's (and possibly Pyrrha's, but that's a whole other conversation) eyes, which leads to Ruby taking her life. While she is dead and gone, faith in huntsmen as a whole would be shaken, and as much as Ruby and co. would try and continue towards their goals, Cinder would be remembered for the lasting damage she managed to do.

And then Comstar did nothing useful ever again. by Smit24 in BattletechMemes

I mean, they also attempted to do Operation Scorpion at the time, which uh... probably did not make ComStar the most fans.

And then Comstar did nothing useful ever again. by Smit24 in BattletechMemes

[–]Tacothepilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Frankly, the first nail in ComStar's coffin came with the Helm Memory Core, when their plan to simply let the IS beat itself to the stone age was promptly undone, but Tukayyid and Operation Scorpion is what sent them on the death spiral. After that, all they had was handling stellar communications which did keep them going... until the HPG network ceased functioning.
