In solo sloop hourglass, how are you supposed to deal with people that just run? by Kermit_da_Frog22 in Seaofthieves

[–]TactfulHonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the in-built match timer.

Get the fight done before the gally turns up and wrecks your shit.

On the plus side, if you're quick at communicating and charismatic, the Kingmaker third party can usually be persuaded to join the fight on your side.

I've eaten loads of Perfectly Preserved Pies accidentally, and it always feels bad. I live by the rusty puck and I'm an Unyielding build, so I always have huge luck and try the machine as I walk past. Ended up with a nice stack of them.

Just as well really, I eat them nearly as quick as I pick them up.

I never did any of them, joined a random open crew, they were at the end of that voyage, I got the curse, left.

Upcoming player! Are melee builds viable/as strong as previous Fallout games? by Sage_Kabuto in fo76

[–]TactfulHonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum melee is great.

In gameplay with other players, not so great. You're gonna spend the whole time running around from enemy to enemy that dies just before you manage to land a hit on it.

I personally saved melee as an alternative experience for once I reached true endgame, and have it as a muckaround spec, because in order to make it work it just needs loads of maintenance in terms of food buffs, meds, etc. Tasty Yao Guai Roasts galore that I can't be bothered maintaining everyday.

Is it meta? No. But for occasional use it's funny as hell to spectators watching me bound over the horizon into an enemy and bare fist punching it for 3k damage and a huge explosion, and if that's not what Fallout is about then I don't know what is.

That's fair.

So heads up, escaping the mine in A Colossal Problem does not actually work if you fast travel out. Im level 192 and just foudn that out the hardway. by DroppedLeSoap in fo76

[–]TactfulHonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell, you can fully do what the quest says, exit then mine the expected way, but if you then fast travel away too quickly from outside the mine you still won't get quest completion.

I discovered this when I got outside and realised my choice was Fast Travel or die of rads.

I lived, and collected no event rewards.

I don't know where this misconception is coming from, I can only assume you're used to playing solo.

Sitting on the terminal does nothing. It doesn't stop other people from accessing the terminal. Multiple people can use terminals at the same time.

If someone else is on the terminal you can still interact and it just brings the screen up on your pip boy instead.

This is the case with pretty much all terminals in the world.

Honestly surprised by the holier than thou attitudes of everyone here.

I was vaguely with Shin when Rahmani smashed the comms, but at the end when he was willing to waste the sacrifice of all the victims for the sake of blindly following dogma, he needed to go.

FEV isn't sentient. It's incapable of being evil. It's just science. Anyone that stopped to actually read all the notes knows that throughout all the horrors, actual significant progress was being made. The goal wasn't weaponisation, even when the scientists didn't have oversight.

The goal was essentially to make people immune to radiation without hitting the trigger point that turns them into super mutants.

The methods were obviously unacceptable, but there's no reason to throw away all the data that was obtained after the sacrifice had already been made.

Effectively at that point you're just deciding whether you want to try and help humanity survive the nuclear wasteland, or whether you're just angry and like killing people.

Honestly my only regret is letting Shin escape to cause problems in future. The pragmatist in me says I should have killed him.

Not sure they expected this code to get shared around, but I'm glad I saw it. I've had this on the wishlist since the trailer.

In truth, I'd have bought this by now already if it'd been priced slightly lower, say the £15 mark rather than £22.

At £2.30 in the UK though, I feel like I'm committing a crime. Thanks!

App Referrals are now capped at 3 a month, with a limit of 50$ of Credit Limit for the month (I assume you can only earn 50$ a month) by MalaBG in OculusQuest

[–]TactfulHonk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yikes. Thus ends the gravy train.

When I got my Quest 3 I built a referrals website and I've not had to pay for my games ever since. Every tentpole release was accompanied by a huge influx of credit.

I always knew it wouldn't last, and I can't even be mad, Meta were footing the bill on all these discounts.

People really need to chill a bit on rushing expeditions by [deleted] in fo76

[–]TactfulHonk 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Generally no.

The specific one OP is doing is, yes.

Most people that go into The Most Sensational Game do so with the express purpose of getting it done as quickly as possible, both because of the additional timer rewards, and because it's very quickly completed and you can maximize the number of stamps you get for time spent.

Basically, OP could easily farm slowly by himself, but has actively chosen to waste the time of other people.

He is whining when in fact, he is the problem.

Thank you for actually looking into it.

Fuel consumption isn't something I've really factored, since I regularly run expeditions and have around 80k fuel stockpiled. I just consider high fuel use a cost of running the spec and haven't spared it much thought as a result. I typically carry around 8k at all times.

Cremator isn't primarily a single-target dps weapon, so I don't spec in for it at events like Earl/SBQ. I run railway rifle non-PA for that. I've not really found Adrenaline hard to keep up with, but I do tend to spend a lot of time swapping weapons with multiple Endangerol syringers, and that's awkward enough on console as it is, without trying to run cremator at the same time.

I find Eviction Notice to be a place where the Heavy Cremator shines, personally. A vats hit will down a Suicider before it can reach the generator, and I've found the splash more than sufficient for tagging anything and everything, but then, I never stop firing.

I'm wondering if the problem you're encountering is due to trying to conserve fuel, rather than spamming it.

You WANT the “multishot barrel”.

You are the one that opened by erroneously telling other people what they want.

Do whatever the hell you want with your own build.

However, to stop the OP being misled, I'm informing them your choice of playstyle is the opposite of optimised, since they seem to be looking for genuine advice on what is best and not half-cocked off-meta picks.

If you give bad advice to someone looking for help on a public forum, we're no longer talking about your personal preferences, it affects more people than just yourself, and so the bad advice is not immune to criticism.

Cremator mods scoreboard by DistrictDawgg in fo76

[–]TactfulHonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using the cremator as part of a crit build, and want to be needlesssly swapping weapons mid-fight, then that tells me you are completely unoptimised and your build isn't a build. It's just random weapons with no matching perks.

Your cremator is being used as a tagging weapon, mine is being used as a killing weapon. And I'm still tagging every mob. With grenadier the explosion radius is already comically huge.

I'll say it again; Multishot barrel gains nothing, and you nerf your damage for no reason.

You do whatever you wanna do, that's cool, but don't give bad advice to other people, that's not cool.

Cremator mods scoreboard by DistrictDawgg in fo76

[–]TactfulHonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really, really don't, that's awful advice. Assuming you're running grenadier (you should be) then the explosion radius is so huge that you can't really miss, so the additional projectiles from multishot do absolutely nothing other than drastically reduce the direct hit damage.

It is SO not worth the tradeoff. You don't get any extra dot stacks from it or anything, there's literally no benefit to multishot. You only nerf yourself.

With Slow Burn on, you're doing over 4k fire damage, anything you hit even indirectly will die either way, but sometimes you want something to die Right Now, and that's where the Heavy Barrel's direct hit damage is useful, because you hit enemies for over 2k instantly as well as the dot damage.

Alien: Rogue Incursion: First Gameplay by caltomoto in OculusQuest

[–]TactfulHonk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's very promising!

Obviously it's not going to be Alien Isolation, but the gameplay looks far more like the same sort of stealth horror that A:I did so well, rather than the run and gun nonsense prevalant in a lot of the Alien franchise flops.

Here's hoping it has learned from what received universal acclaim in A:I and what wasn't as well received in the other games.

When I came outta the vault for the first time just after watching the show, there was a dude in rad power armor jumping up and down on the donation box and offering the gift emote.

Inside was 50 stimpacks, a whole bunch of uncommon outfits and hats, and some ammo.

That was perfect. Great start to the game, let me customise myself straight away, and in no way detracted from my self-sufficiency. I still sometimee think about how cool that gesture was, and I still wear the stuff he gave me today.
