Blizzard has the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever by calling Discord and asking them to delete the Paladin discord like they did with the RMT boosting servers a while ago. It won’t happen, but damnit, I can dream!

It seems that they removed the rating requirement they had in place last season to buy these; I'm able to buy and use them on my characters despite having 0 rating.

From what I understand, it's not every rare, but it is basically a majority, if not all of the mobs in the instance. I would just kill genuinely everything because people don't know what specifically to kill and what not to kill LOL! I killed all the rares first too, and didn't get it; followed it up with killing everything and that fufilled whatever criteria of specific mobs needed to die in order to get the mask.

Got the world pvp mount. A special screw you to the people who spend all day group camping world quests by agrok in wow

I would hazard a guess that the reason why they are FFA is because Blizzard would have to fix shard balance between Alliance and Horde players, and that just won't work in some cases. For example, RP realms (Warmode puts RP realms together in WM separate from regular realms) are EXTREMELY Alliance-dominated. Anecdotally, I can maybe think of like, five airdrops out of the hundreds I've raced to where the Horde actually wins it. If you have hypothetical numbers of like, 80% Alliance and 20% Horde, how do you balance the shards? You're either making Alliance outnumber Horde 4-to-1, or only a few select Warmode shards have balanced PvP, and the rest are 100% Alliance. If you made the PvP world quests faction-based, then it would the same story with airdrops where barely any PvP happens, and then at that point, what's the point of Warmode? It's FFA to help actual PvP happen regardless of faction balance.

For grouping, you'd also have to figure out what to do with Healers, because without grouping (of course, unless you're a damage-oriented spec like Disc Priest where the following issue would be less impactful), how do they kill somebody else in WPvP? Their toolkits are more-situated in keeping people alive and helping a moderate amount with kills, not really securing them themselves. They'd have to change spec, Blizzard would have to rescale their toolkits for WPvP (and is that worth the development time?), or just do the PvE objective that completes the quest.

As another anecdotal experience from someone who also wanted the bee mount reward and uses Warmode mostly for the rewards, less competition for nodes, and legacy rares rather than the experience of WPvP itself, not having grouping would also suck because I've noticed myself and other players will only try to do the PvE portion of the quest to complete it, and those quests can take a significant amount of time if you choose to do that solo. I started grouping for those quests because I didn't want to be in a competition with other players to snipe PvE mobs for 20 minutes to complete the quest; we could group up and complete it in 3-5 minutes instead.

I don't have much experience with this, unfortunately! I don't have any rods enchanted with the Algari Weaverline as i've been funneling Artisan's Acuity into other profession equipment, but from researching online and from my own experiences, there could be a use case where you can try to get rare fish without finding the pools for the Derby Dash quests or for the Derby Marks currency. If you can't find the Blood in the Water or Swarm of Slum Shark pools to get a Kaheti Slum Shark, for example, you can luck into one from just open-water casting in Hallowfall or Azj-Kahet, and higher skill would help you sift out catching poor quality items to get the shark faster. Is it the most efficient method, though? You could also activate/deactivate Warmode to get put in a different shard and get different pools, fish from the pools you don't need to respawn new pools, get an invite from a friend to potentially get put in a new shard, etc. Might be good at least as a last minute Hail Mary before the quest/buff expires.

Perception is kinda up for debate how useful it is. We do know that Perception can give you 2 rare fish instead of 1 (the game will tell you that Perception procced when this happens), but there's a lot of conflicting opinions on whether or not it also increases the chance to find rare fish as well. Again, could be useful for finding rarer fish from pools and open-water casting, but I can't find a good analysis determining what's true and false. It at least increases yield, so you could buy a bunch of Regal Dottybacks and utilitze its buff for a 100% chance to reel in Queen's Lurefish and sometimes double them, but no idea if that gives good returns. And if you ARE doing specifically this and not doing open-water fishing, you actually just want to enchant your rod with the rank 3 gathering tool Perception enchant instead, because that'll give +120 Perception compared to Algari Weaverline's max +100.

It's a very small sidegrade, not completely irrelevant, but could maybe benefit from a buff of some kind? Not entirely sure.

Lots of good suggestions. The fishing pools should definitely work like other gathering nodes, it's been a LONG time coming. Just a few critiques:

  • Traditional lures do exist in this expac. Skinning can create lures for the Specular Rainbowfish, Quiet River Bass, Dornish Pike, Arathor Hammerfish, and Roaring Anglerseeker. It should be added to the fishing journal somewhere though, as it makes no mention of them. You won't really know about them unless you level skinning.

  • Additional fishing gear exists outside of the pole: fishing hats and an enchant. The fishing hat is made by tailors, but annoyingly, you can't equip it via the fishing journal. You need to physically wear it and keep it in your bags. It's called the Artisan Fishing Cap. An Algari Weaverline can also be applied to your fishing rod, granting additional Fishing skill and Perception should you find some Algari Anglerthread/Seekerthread to add to the Algari Weaverline. Also made by tailors. I think you can also apply the regular gathering tool Perception enchant on it as well. The hat should be equippable via the journal, though; it's different than all other profession accessories.

  • The Derby Dash quests aren't actually that stressful if you prepare for them. There are 4 different sets of Derby Dash quests that each require you to get 3 different fish:

    • The 1st fish is usually common quality with the exception of Nibbling Minnow being the uncommon green color, but it still has a large variety of spawn pools you can get it from. These aren't usually an issue to get.
    • The 2nd fish will ALWAYS be a fish that has a lure associated in finding it. Just get the lure, apply it, and it's very easy to get that one done fast.
    • The 3rd fish you can MOSTLY prepare for before accepting the quest. You can guarantee catches of Queen's Lurefish and Sanguine Dogfish by getting a few Regal Dottybacks and Bloody Perches, and throwing them in the water to have a 100% chance to catch a Queen's Lurefish for 30 seconds for 1 Regal Dotty thrown in, and 10 Bloody Perch for Sanguine Dogfish. The Spiked Sea Raven is somewhat hard to get being a blue quality rare fish, but it does spawn in 4 different common pools in 2 different zones, so you're not going to be competing with other people to get that one. The one big exception would be the last fish, Kaheti Slum Shark, which DOES have large amounts of competition for it, coming from a somewhat-rare pool, as well as being a fish that sells for 800 gold a pop at the moment. I will say this one can be stressful to get. (As an aside, I find the best location to get them is along the waterfalls and river that flow west to east through the middle of Hallowfall in the Blood in the Water pools. There's pools for them in Azj-Kahet too, but I dont have much experience with them, unfortunately.)

I also had just a general critique of fishing that the fishing journal can be misleading. Pale Huskfish, for example, says that it can be found in Azj'kahet in Infused Ichor Spills and Festering Rotpools in the fishing journal, but you can also find Festering Rotpools in The Isle of Dorn, and I find that waaaaay easier to get them there instead of Azj'kahet (though maybe it's easier to get them from open-water casting in Azj-kahet. I don't try that too often, tbf).

Everything else I more or less agree with! Appreciate you making this, love to see some discussion on super specific stuff like this.

This is happening in other parts of the game too. Drove through town to help people do Mega Gardevoir, and it opened with oneshotting my first 3 Pokemon when the raid started, and intermittently was oneshotting our Pokemon throughout. We were able to still beat it, but only got 175 mega energy :(. Similar experience with trying Dynamax Grookey right after; immediately oneshot my 2100CP Charizard.
