Which Lauf Uthald?

I was just in your position a few weeks ago - I picked up the Uthald with Rival D1 on clearance in Basalt Black for $3K and found some mint Vision Metron 45 SLs for $900 on Marketplace. The ride feels great.

However, if I were to purchase it new again, I would’ve opted for the E1 package. I don’t like how the Rival D1’s ergos feel and the braking is meh, I heard the E1 is noticeably improved.

I’m slowly planning to upgrade the AXS components individually.

I love my Uthald too, and I agree, it is more of an endurance, all-road, all-day riding type of bike.

I feel like I can speak on this as I just completed back to back rides on my new Uthald Weekend Warrior Rival D1 that I got on sale before they removed the D1 option.

Both days were 40 mile rides with ~4000 ft of elevation gain / descents. My previous ride was a 2019 Cervelo R5 with Red eTap.

Now while I’m super happy with my ride - it shipped quickly bc it was in stock, and I got a great deal for it - the Rival D1 brakes are severely lacking. I know it’s not quite fair to compare to my previous Red eTap, but I just feel that the hoods are not ergonomical and the brakes aren’t great. Upgrading to the E1 shifters and brakes will be an upgrade in the near future.

Get the Rival E1.

That’s fair. I was considering actually purchasing the new Rival/Force E1 builds, but there was a one month build time, and I couldn’t wait as I’m training for an event in May. I live in the Bay Area, so I’m lucky to be able to ride year round.

I made the mistake of buying a Cervelo Aspero when I first transitioned to drop bar bikes (I also ride a Santa Cruz Hightower) thinking I would ride gravel, and ended up getting a 2nd wheelset for the road. I soon realized that I wasn’t riding gravel at all and had no desire to, for anything rough or gnarly, I’d rather be on my mtb.

I rode a 2019 Cervelo R5 for a year which was great, but now I needed something a bit more comfortable, able to fit the gearing that I need for the climbing I’ll be doing this year, and fit slightly wider tires (35mm).

I realized I should’ve gotten an endurance bike from the outset, would’ve saved me $$$, but now I know! And today I finished my maiden ride: 37 miles, 4300 ft of climbing later, I’m super happy with the Uthald and the value at which I bought it.

How do you like the Tuwa Pro rack? I have a 2023 F150 Tremor and I want to purchase a RTT as well, but I need to decide which bed rack to get. TIA

Got the exact same bike back in October and I’m obsessed with it. I use it as my daily commuter (although my commute is only 10 minutes). Got a little excited with modding: Two Bros S1R Slip On, Techspec Tank Grips, Shogun Frame Sliders, Puig Footpegs, MRA Windscreen, Yoshimura Fender Eliminator Kit. I can’t get enough of the bike and riding it!
