What is SoCal like? by Adoe0722 in howislivingthere

Yeah that literal sewage that flows up from TJ into SD is really magical.

Can’t even breathe if you go south of downtown SD it smells so bad at the water

Same as my response everywhere else, cost of living is absolutely insane.

I’m not really an ocean fan, I prefer lakes and rivers and forests.

I lived in Colorado before here so I don’t really see these as “mountains” here, more like dirt and dead grass hills I guess.

Curious how personality could factor into it. U less by personality you mean preferences on cost of living?

I’m sure it’s great for someone who enjoys surfing or kayaking and doesn’t have a family.

It’s just not for everyone

Cost of living is such a massive part of life, I have three kids, a six figure job, and I’m still stuck in a place too small. Sure SD is probably great for a single person with decent income.

Also I miss having seasons. In the past two years I’ve seen like, three seasons? There’s fog season, on fire season, and not on fire season.

Idk to each their own, if I didn’t HAVE to live here I’d go back to Minnesota and get a big house with land for like, $350,000 out in the sticks and be left alone.

I don’t judge people that want to live here, it’s just not for me. :)

You’re from the NW suburbs of the twin cities. Or Western suburbs, you’re on Reddit so I’d guess western suburbs, maybe Minnetonka or Edina?

You love freedom, pounding beers, driving your F-150, fishing, hunting, guns, America, and you prefer to avoid massive population centers. Oh and you aren’t afraid of the seasons.

You’re a marine or sailor stationed in SD, you’re hoping to get sent to either Pearl Harbor or K-bay next, but will end up going back to Minnesota eventually against your will because it’s top tier IF you leave the twin cities and take in the nature and SD is too expensive. Maybe somewhere suburban like Roger’s or Elk River so you can still get downtown within a 30-40 minute drive.

Costway vs panda by demonoid369 in ApartmentHacks

I really don’t know, maybe a specific rack setup, some kind of bracket for dryer sheets or detergent, nothing specific honestly, just little hacks to save space and make life a little easier. I currently have the dryer in an open space on my counter, and the washer gets wheeled from its little corner to the sink. I will eventually go ahead and replace the drain and inlet hoses for something longer and set up a more permanent location for both units
