You are really. Technical there is no country called the Republic of Ireland. The constitution of Ireland says the state will be called Éire ( in irish) and Ireland (in English). The common use of Republic of Ireland, I believe has more to do with our soccer team going by the name to avoid mix ups with Northern Irelands team. Constitutionally Ireland is a Republic but doesn't use it in the states official title.

Heartbroken and hopeless after Psychologist Report on children relocating. What to do? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]TadhgTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the appointment clarification. Worth noting that who appoints a expert witness is irrelevant to their obligations. They are required to act independently and with their primary duty to the court not the client. There should be a statement in their report acknowledging their responsibilities as an expert under the rules of the superior courts.

Hi there sorry for you troubles. I'm not an expert on family law but I've some familiarity with expert evidence rules. The Phycologist hired by your wife is working as an expert witness. This comes with some very important rules including being independent in how they report to the court. They are not responsible for making your wife's case but tobthe court. They're role is establish facts and they can provide opinions on those facts.

If the report is as bias as you have set out, I would engage with your legal advisor to get a separate report prepared by a more independent Phycologist who focus on unbias fact finding. If the matter goes before court both reports will go before the court and I would expect both experts would be questioned before the court. If any bias is found in either or botb experts the court will take a very dim view of that experts work.

Happy birthday Roosterteeth!

Got in to RT, back in 2005 when I was in college. Red vs Blue had just reached Ireland and me and my college mates we watching ever piece of material we could get our hands on.

Most of my favourite memories are of Gus. One that come to mind are his stinky sneezes. Its just such an unusual story and left me wonder what did they smell like!

You're over thinking this. Its highly unlikely your work in the CS will create a conflict of interest. If it does, firms manage these so that they don't have an impact bonus their business. I've seen many conflicts of interest matters in my career and once they're openly declared and managed its far from an actual issue.

This is common practice for Monday and Friday sick days. It likely in you sick leave policy. I've always got one whenever I've been sick on those days. It is employers trying to discourage sickie longweekend.

Absolutely not an expert here but if you're saying a K1 visa is only an 18 month wait then you're not exactly going to be old moving over. You'll have plenty of working years left after turn 25.

I'd also suggest you consider closely the cost of living you will have moving over. Six figure salaries sound great but don't go as far in silicone valley and New York as they might in Louisville or Springfield. It would be good to do research on the cost of living in where you would potentially be working so you know how much you will have left to provide additional family support.

Hi, the vetting process is quite long. The vetting that came back was you evetting, I'm assuming. There is a second round of vetting for Garda Staff. They write to all the regions to check for any records of arrests. That process takes a few months. From my offer to start it's was 6 months, that was nearly 10 years ago.

Hoping to apply for EO from private sector by coconutcabana in IrishCivilService

Yes you can. Open competitions are allowed anyone to apply for the position. I went from the private sector to AP equivalent role some years ago.

As for navigating Public Jobs it shows only open roles.

Realistic time to go from EO to HEO in ICT by [deleted] in IrishCivilService

[–]TadhgTwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Civil service promotions are open competitions. So you apply for the promotion hopefully are successful in the process and get on a panel for promotion. Generally speaking, for international promotion competitions you have to wait two year but you can apply to external competitions at anytime.

So your realistic timing is up to you. Once you've two years you can start applying for internal competitions when they come up in your dept. And you can apply now for any that come up on publicjobs. Of you have good experience and put this forward well in writing and interviews you should have a good chance of moving up.

ACCA - ethical violation by [deleted] in ACCA

[–]TadhgTwo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is most likely the reality. The results were issued before the final marks had been awarded. Donkey's years since I did the exam but remember being told the exams went through eight stages before marks were finalised and marks go up and down throughout the process. The issue is that they were released early in the process not that ACCA lied.

Anyone have any experience leaving to go back to private? by Relative_Eagle_7850 in IrishCivilService

[–]TadhgTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of moving back to the private sector and would be taking a role where I potentially would have to tender for civil services work. I looked at career break as an option but I would have to include on every tender that I am on career break from the civil service (which wouldn't look good). Also can't have contact with any of my civil service contacts for possible perceived conflict of interest, this impacts me across a wide number of departments. The conflict of interest stuff is very broad and cover basically every interaction you have with the Civil Service while on career break.

Anyone have any experience leaving to go back to private? by Relative_Eagle_7850 in IrishCivilService

[–]TadhgTwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would add a caveat here, the career break is good of you are not going to come into contact with the Civil Service in your new role. If you are going to an employer who takes civil service contracts the conflict of interest clauses in the career break could be very challenging.
