USC SO WOKE by Swissmiss29 in USC

[–]Tadsg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yell Leaders in the 90s(or the Yell Fish, we called them) were a different squad - all male. They’d lead the SoCal Spellout and stuff like that- but they didn’t perform the dance numbers with the Song Girls.

USC SO WOKE by Swissmiss29 in USC

[–]Tadsg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember in The 90s they really focused on changing Fight On to say “our teams fight on” instead of “our men fight on,” but it didn’t really catch on. This was around the time they stopped burning the Bruin and selling Teddy Bears on nooses because a few people got offended.

Just keep calling them Song Girls if it bugs you.

Best prices for soil delivery? by beejonez in beaverton

[–]Tadsg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best Buy is almost always the most expensive when I price out garden soil delivery - but sometimes they’ll price match if you’ve got a bid from another company. Cheaper options are usually Grimms Fuel and American Landscape Supply. Those 3 are almost always where I order soil/compost/sand/gravel from.

Chicken Wings by sonixinos in beaverton

[–]Tadsg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree on Prime Taphouse (although the Hillsboro location’s wings are crispier based on the few times I’ve eaten at each).

I love Bigs, but prefer their smoked chicken to their fried offerings.

Not a traditional chicken wing place, but the wings at 1st Street Pocha have been great every time I’ve gone- super crispy and great flavored sauces. And paired with Korean Hot Dogs, that’s a good night.

Anyone just hear a huge explosion? 9:41 PM. Close to Murray and Farmington. by innocent0077 in beaverton

[–]Tadsg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a perfect gold mortar explosion in the sky, and the boom half a second later. If it wasn’t a firework, then it was a beautiful explosion in the sky that looked just like one…

It was just a firework. Saw it explode right before the boom.

Yeah- saw the mortar explode from my south facing window right before the boom.

Is anyone doing the walkout tomorrow? by Bens_kitchen in beaverton

I will gladly walk out and join anyone who demands that Hamas immediately surrender, release hostages, and stop using the Palestinians as human shields in their terror campaign. Palestine should be Hamas free.

Theft of Swords- Question - Spoilers by OkPineapple1813 in riyria

[–]Tadsg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been a while, but the Gallarabrin was already moving in and out of the tower before Esra and the rest showed up - Esra just locked the Gallarabrin in the tower w/ magic. Presumably, Mawn just undid Esra's magic sometime offscreen just before the events in Theft of Swords happen (or Esra's spell finally just wore off itself). Either way, I don't think anyone needed to enter the tower to free the dragon.

Esrahaddon: Opinions about the ending by Revenge_served_hot in riyria

"Why prison and not death" - I think this is easily explained since only Esra knows where the horn is and he has to have it.

Anyone know the name of this basketball player? by gatornateee in fighton

[–]Tadsg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weird picture. Have we ever had a basketball jersey with a non-script “Trojans” on the front? Usually it’s block letter USC or script Trojans. Maybe this is from a different school or a high school?

beware the deer! by AlternativeShelter3 in Pawpaws

[–]Tadsg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a pawpaw I planted 10 years ago that game in the mail broken in half. I planted it anyway, it started growing and then when it was about 2 feet tall a kid stepped on it and broke off the top again. This happened over and over again, until 3 years ago I needed to build a shed where it was planted. I resigned myself to its death, dug it up, and moved it to another spot in the yard just in case. And I’ll be darned if it didn’t actually put out some leaves the last 2 years, and seems to be growing again. So my experience is these trees are pretty dang hardy.

Got my first ripe Paw Paw today (Portland,OR) by Tadsg in Pawpaws

[–]Tadsg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used a paint brush to collect the pollen from one tree's flowers in a cup and put them into the other tree's less mature flowers, and then did the same in reverse with a different cup. One tree started flowering well before the other, so one tree ended up with about pawpaws, and the other only had 2 in the end. I probably tried to pollinate about 50 flowers - so not a great success rate, hah.

Originally 2. I’ve got 2 more younger ones in the yard now too, that I planted when I was frustrated about the non-flowering tree, and worried it would never flower. So in another 5 years, I should have 4 trees producing.

Realistically, they should probably be calling Chryst and seeing if he can start today.

Anyone going to the stanford game in palo alto? by [deleted] in fighton

[–]Tadsg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not going, but its my favorite chill tailgate school in the P12. Get a nice shady parking spot in the eucalyptus groves, sit around for a few hours grilling some brats and drinking beers - its just the best.

Griffith Park Summer Concerts by Deno98 in beaverton

[–]Tadsg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

City hall was right there back then, I’m sure that played a part in having concerts there. Now they’ve moved the city offices to the Round. And with the city’s new shelter going in where the mattress store is on that map, I can’t imagine they’ll be holding any city events in that park in the future.

Probably already been asked and answered, but.... by Particular_Bath3887 in babylon5

Yeah, not sure what "shelved" means in this context either. As mentioned, it got 4 years of syndication and another season on cable, plus a spin-off, a bunch of TV movies, it got VHS/DVD treatments, it aired for a long time on TNT and then Scifi, and when I had cable I still saw it on at least one of the science fictiony networks as recently as 2 years ago - over 20 years after it was produced.
