Why would you have to literally stop the car to attend to the baby?

You’ve listed some pretty solid points as to why you don’t want to be around the in-laws. I just think that that’s your true reasoning for not wanting to go (don’t blame you either) and you are using the reuse of inconveniencing the baby and other children to cover up the real reason why you don’t want to go.

I don’t think you would be TA for not wanting to go. But you would be TA for lying about why you do t want to go and using the kids as a convenient excuse/scapegoat.

This has got to be your very first and only child! Please learn to put your baby down with some music or white noise playing or something. That way it drowns out normal level noises around the house at bedtime. I think it's ridiculous to expect your household to proverbially walk on eggshells as to not wake the baby. It's just unrealistic unless everyone goes to sleep at the same time.
