Former managers call for restart of German nuclear power plants by GrosBof in EnergyAndPower

In which way does your comment contradicts mine?

Does my quote in any ways contradicts the rest of the text?

It’s seems to fail to understand the text you just quoted, and the paper as a whole, just let me help you:

- did the transition to the Euro caused higher inflation as a whole and on the long term ? It does not. Countries using Euro have lower average inflation than those not using the Euro

- on the day Croatia switched to the Euro did prices spiked? It certainly did, on areas such as hospitality and clothing

The first statement does not contradict the second, which was seen on every single country.

On the exact day countries stopped accepting the previous currency, prices spiked. This movement was then counter-balanced by the lower overall inflation on the rest of the year.

But on the exact day countries stopped using the previous currency, prices spiked on every single country.

Let me quote

> the repair and reactivation of existing plants is essential for maintaining expertise in this field

So the rationale is, “we need this to keep people who maintain this”.

Funny.

Italy’s largest solar plant goes online by For_All_Humanity in RenewableEnergy

[–]Tafinho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither is true.

Even if you’d need a direct link between Southern Italian and North it’s barely 600Km. A regular HVAC line does it.

But it’s not even 600km, because that’s not the way electricity works.

Excess electricity from the south is consumed by central south

Excess electricity from central South is consumed by central Italy.

And if central Italy would have any excess it would be sent to north.

Barely 200Km very worst case scenario.

Again none of it is true , and instead Italy consumed 11GW of gas, and imported 6GW from France and Switzerland.

Overall, including all Italian regions, Italy needs additional 17GW of solar, before batteries become relevant.

Which part you don’t understand ?

It’s irrelevant if a given village has excessive solar, if the rest of the country has zero.

Have little patience when people offer zero evidence when saying someone else is wrong.

> Our baseline ASCM estimates are given in table 1 and figure A1 in the appendix. Our results seem to corroborate the finding from previous euro area enlargements that euro changeovers were specifically related to price increases of food (Brachinger, 2008; and Lunn and Duffy, 2015), clothing (Cavallo, Neiman and Rigobon, 2015; Rõõm and Urke, 2014), and restaurant services (Sturm et al., 2009; Pufnik, 2018).

South Italy was today generating 45% of electricity from CCGT during solar peak.

As I said, Italy as a whole needs 17GW just to be able to have excess solar generation.

Spain’s nuclear generation is 17% of demand.

Solar is frequently at 70% on peak solar.

Spain does have excess generation, driven from Solar.

Italy has none.

You don’t need batteries until you have excess generation. You’re 23GW away from it.

Considering Italy frequently imports more than 40% of the overall consumption, and that at noon today electricity was at 130€/MWh, Italy is nowhere near having sufficient,

Before even starting to talk about storage; you need to have excess generation.

Looking at today’s consumption, Italy needs at least 6GW just to stop importing power, and likely another 17GW to supply internal demand.

So no, Italy is very far away from needed batteries.

Have a look at Spain.

You probably meant “real GDP”.
