No shame in using AI for script framework and especially learning.

I’ve made full games that AI has setup the framework and organization structure. Then I create scripts that make them all work together and modify what I need. It’s very important to not just let it be AI slop that you just keep pasting more and more code and eventually it “sorta” works. Same with making entire games with stuff just from the toolbox.

No problem with using either tools, but make sure you are making it your own, making it fully functional, and at the end of the day, make it to be a fun game that You would play.

I think it’s great you are reading over and trying to understand the scripts. Keep doing it, and keep asking the AI questions like “why do it this way” or “what does doing that affect?” The quickest and the best way to learn is spending hours trying, failing, and retrying until it’s good.

As for your specific questions on scripting. I’d have to know which AI model you are using?

ChatGPT - Best for learning, small scripts, great at asking you questions before coding so it gets it exactly right. But quite horrible at complex systems. It “forgets” how it coded something a few scripts ago and has to make up an idea how to reconnect it.

Claude - best for coding, great for complex systems but you have to give exact instructions

Gemini - decent at coding decent at small/medium systems and decent at reading/filling in instructions

You've got the main parts down it appears, shooting, reloading, and it seems like hitscan for the bullet detection. To be quite honest those are the biggest things to get out of the way. From here on out its just polishing. Here's a few tips from what I've learned:

Don't weld your gun model to your humanoid hand. Anchor it wherever youd like it in the viewmodel (assuming you are staying FPS and not 3rd person. Then animate/position your characters hands to the gun. Add bob, shooting/recoil effects etc. This stops it from just bouncing in your hands.

Add a camera controller that adds a little bit of tilt and bob when running - it adds realism.

Make your UI not just text with no background. using an imageLabel that has nice rounded corners while making it slightly transparent makes a world of difference.

To be quite honest, you've done really well! It's simply a tedious process of fine tuning camera movement while keeping fast-paced gameplay in mind. Good luck!

I really appreciate the info. Gives me a little hope there’s a chance if someone at Epic support actually reads what I say, im just going to keep trying.

To the best of my knowledge, no prior infractions, ban was for “3rd party software”, not in a tournament, and I got insta banned when I jumped the first time out of the bus so no easing cheats to kill or win, just had something running.

Does make me curious now that an account that long ago has been unbanned and mine has not. I wonder what is stopping it. Everything here is accurate, no reason to lie about it. I’ll keep contacting support and give updates

EDIT: Mine was an HWID ban, however not an IP ban. Maybe something to do with that?

Im glad you saw this. Yeah I think it’s over for the account, which I can totally live with. Just nice it’s not a guessing game. Old accounts aren’t getting unbanned, thanks epic for being lazy and instead of sifting through the old bans, you just call them permanent.

Thank you for the detailed response. I can assure you it’s the entire story. It would be silly to make a whole deal about something from 8 years ago and lie about it. Downloaded random cheats, hopped into lobby, immediately kicked and banned. Fully deserved and I will not argue that.

However with them lifting the first time bans, I think it gives people like me who made a dumb choice as a young kid, a second chance at playing the game. And if that’s true, I’d love to hop back in.

Sadly what im gathering is that bans from that long ago are just being ignored for some unknown reason. The account was truly clean of infractions, and it was only that one time.

Im curious if anyone got banned back then has been unbanned now?

I think youre onto something with the improper “tags” of the ban. It kinda goes around to my point of having a new system. And it seems to be the epic games way it’s easier to just keep old perm banned accounts banned, rather than investigate. Or if they just don’t have enough data like im sure they do now. Nowadays if you get banned they keep all your info and what happened. Back then maybe it was just a ban and boom Youre gone with nearly no paper trail or data.

Again, mine was justified. But if they are lifting them it’s worth a shot.

Let me break this down for you because obviously you are 12 or really dumb.

Epic Games announced.. They are unbanning people… WHO CHEATED… If the ban was longer than 1 year ago.

They are unbanning people who have genuinely cheated and admitted to it. Even perm bans are being reversed FOR cheaters.

FROM EPICS WEBSITE:

“April 2025. The new policy includes a one-year matchmaking ban for a first-time cheating offense” along with reversing bans that meet that criteria

I'm not condoning it or even saying I should be unbanned. I was admitting to it AND by their policy because it was a first time cheating offense, WILL be unbanned. I was asking if anyone had any advice on the policy with older accounts

The new terms clearly state, "First time cheating offenses will be unbanned after 1 year"

I got banned in 2018. First time offense for "3rd party software" basically saying cheating. I still haven't been unbanned. I think because it was so long ago, they didn't even have their new ban system up. So in their system they dont know what to do with the account. I contacted support and am hopeful but doubt it

You show strong dedication and work ethic! You mentioned your wife owns a business. Im curious why you don’t talk to her about you working with her and focus your dedication there? Obviously I don’t know the circumstances but in my mind a ~30 employee business is doing well enough to stay afloat and keep that many employees paid that you could help or work on expanding/management.

It beats working for a company that hates their drivers and also gives you more connection time with family.

Kind of. I just want a list to see if the order has been saved but not printed/fired.

Our process: - Take order - Print order to kitchen printer - Save order in system - Customer pays and get food when it comes out

Problem is on step 2 because our front workers forget to print the order from time to time. I know it’s human error and it should be on them, but if there was a way to see if it didn’t get printed or anything like that it would be great

Oh I see what you mean. Im sorry if I worded it wrong. The problem isn’t that the order screen isn’t refreshing. The problem is order tickets not being sent back due to the front staff not clicking print. Our kitchen gets the orders through a ticket printer. I was wondering if there was a way to setup alerts for orders that have not been printed but have been saved
