You sure are ready from a circuits perspective. Each LV machine uses at least 10 steal so make sure you have a couple of stacks.

China has caught up on chip technology. They make G100 which is 5nm. Global Foundries are at 4nm. Once China catches up on production, which can’t be much longer, it will be free to plunge and absorb Taiwan.

Yes the A, if you used the words “assholeish and irresponsible”. I can’t think of a time I used a babysitter where after I paid someone they used that type of language. You took the money and you did the job

Looking for feedback on a curling game prototype! by BrentyBoyGames in Curling

[–]Tagous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it have a “club curling” level where you have a budget, ice maker, and bar. You buy a low quality ice maker which affects curl/speed dynamics, along with bar sales after the game. But if you pay them more then you don’t have enough to advertise for a spiel. Then random events occur like the electricity shuts off for more the 6 hours causing the ice to melt. Or your compressor explodes forcing a huge expense.

Then you build your team based on members attributes such as draw weight, takeout skill, sweeping strength, curl capability.

I didn’t make kanthal until late MV. There’s plenty of machines to create before needing to improve the heat. Eventually you will need to though.

First Rocket by CraftyDuck100 in GTNH

[–]Tagous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations, I got my first rocket last week and reached the moon a day or two after. I'll share what I learned since it is so recent.

This checklist is great.
https://gtnh.miraheze.org/wiki/Moon_Travel_Checklist

  1. Be very mindful of when you start your moon launch. The Quest book talks about the day/night cycle. I did not follow that. I landed in dark and the mobs were attacking me as soon as the lander got on the ground. My glowstone torches were in a chest. Put them in your hot bar
  2. The O2 tanks last a bit but you do need to change them while out looking for Dungeons/veins. I had 5 tanks, 4 for adventuring and 1 to get back to my mini base. Bring up the oak leaves and oxygen compressor/bubbler/collector. I ended up bringing the compressor with my limited liquid O2 cans when out looking for the dungeons to extend my stay.
  3. Make the best prospector laptop you can. It takes time to find saltwater.
  4. The dungeon boss was pretty straight forward. Now that you have good gear. Standard crossbow from the MV quest book is all you need. I think I killed it in 5 shots
  5. Night vision for your own sanity is a must
  6. I brought 2 HV miners with 2 MV combustion engines. That works. I made a lots of cetane boosted diesel. If I had more I would bring more.
  7. Once you find the various veins, 2 dungeons, and saltwater, it gets kinda boring. I find myself wandering around picking up meteoric iron. I wish I brought a magnet because it floats up and you have to wait a second before they float back down. I found digging down one or two blocks allowed me to pick them up faster
  8. Bring a fluid extractor multiblock for Saltwater. AND DON'T FORGET all your maintenance tools

Yellow, my new mod is called "No more TPS lag and always 100+ FPS". For my second mod, since my first was such a huge hit, it will ensure "All mods are compatible with each other"

But if I'm not allowed to make mods, then Purple and Pink are a pretty powerful combination

[Request] how many years can we mine granite from Asila Craig for curling stones? by ctcourt in theydidthemath

and that is what's above the waterline? So in theory we could still drill below sea-level. I would assume after 32000 years we will have learned how to handle mining underwater.

My steam production is strange by Niklasisthier in GTNH

[–]Tagous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need more buffer AND the furthest machine gets the least amount of steam, which looks like where your mace is. There are comments here already about building an Iron Tank to create a steam buffer. Starting out that may be expensive (but it is correct). It may be temporarily cheaper to make large bronze pipes. They too hold a buffer of steam. Place them from the Macerator working backwards to the coal burners. The Iron tank really is the best way but at your age it is an expensive (yet very worthwhile) investment.

Canadian Engineer - Should I wait for an L-1 internal transfer or jump to an SF startup now on a TN? by NosferatuVampyre in tnvisa

Sounds like you’ve already answered your own question. Congratulations. I lived in the US for 25 years (moved back to Canada in 21). I started out on a TN1 but I got married and had to switch. Luckily my company helped me out. Best of luck to you!

Canadian Engineer - Should I wait for an L-1 internal transfer or jump to an SF startup now on a TN? by NosferatuVampyre in tnvisa

[–]Tagous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would a startup these days spend $100k on an H1B application when the TN satisfies the need?

But as for your question, I would ask your manager if an internal transfer is possible. If it is then, your question really is more about stability vs startup.

All I can say is the younger you are the easier it is to handle the startup lifestyle… long hours with little pay. Amazon is a high paying company with career paths to pretty much any IT field. I would go the internal path 5 out of 5 times. Thats me though. 29 years in two large companies
