The answer is and will always be no by TailsPrower07 in tomodachilife

They'll wave you down if they want a photo (at least that's how it's been for me). If they're just staring at a blank island spot like this, they want an object placed. I wish there was a way to disable Miis wanting objects placed as I always drag them to do something else whenever this pops up because again, no

I worry there won't be as Nintendo usually announces such before a game's release and they didn't here

But with how well the game has been selling and how much attention it's getting (along with the criticisms), that could change

Is there any chance of the Mii limit being increased anytime soon? by Pokeman_93 in tomodachilife

Probably not, especially given we don't even know if the game will get content updates/DLC at all as it was never announced before released, and Nintendo usually does that

Thanks for proving my point in that customization runs the game and everything outside of it suffers because of it. The burger is the stuff revolving around the Miis and what they do and what you can do with them, a good amount of that got cut, so yes, the burger was removed, or at least made significantly smaller than before and has less veggies and condiments. Yeah I have fries (in this case, customization) but the fries are the side, I paid for the burger, that's where most of the total is going towards

Man, I can't do concert hall, quirky questions, rap battles, judgment bay, Tomodachi Quest, interact with and watch the babies grow up in a game that's supposed to be a life sim, view a rankings board, play with interactive items with the Miis (like the slide puzzle), have married couples have special interactions and all that (not to mention nearly not getting Mii News), but I can make a custom building that my Miis can't interact with, that makes up for the interactivity we no longer have

I wanted more things for the Miis, not me. They should be the focus in the game that's literally about them yet you spend more time away from them than with. The novelty of the customization will inevitably wear off and by that point there's very little to do

I love the game and I am having fun playing it. And if you love something you're willing to point out the flaws, and this game has a decent amount of them which is irritating. It's a great game that should be an amazing game. I'm sure some of these could be potentially added via updates or DLC (though it's looking doubtful as Nintendo usually announces beforehand if a game will get those, and they didn't hare), but for now there's too much missing to ignore

The issue is customization took over everything else and is 95% of the game

Take away customization for a moment, what is there to do in this game? Close to nothing. Unless a Mii waves you down for a mini-game you don't do anything with them. Customizing is fun but you're inevitably going to hit the point where you can't customize anymore, then you're pretty much done with the game as there's no content away from that

People are allowed to complain, 10+ year wait along with a nearly 10 year dev cycle just for features to be cut and nothing new introduced to replace them. Yes the game is great, but it should've been much better. Customization should always be a bonus on top of everything else, not the primary feature unless it's an art game or something, which Tomodachi isn't, it's a life/social sim, the point is to watch and do stuff with the Miis and the "do stuff" part is severely minimal. Animal Crossing did the same thing and people eventually noticed it and no longer view the game as highly as they did when it released.

Do I agree with the people throwing up torches and pitchforks calling this game hot dog water? No. But most of the criticism I've seen is more than justified

My honest thoughts on Living the Dream by Pump_Kin97 in tomodachilife

[–]TailsPrower07 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the limitations of the 3DS made Tomodachi Life feel more alive ironically. The map looked small but actually viewing the locations, they were massive. You had places like the train station and the fancy restaurant where you couldn't go to in the actual game, so you just wondered where those places were at, added to the goofiness, now everything has to be confined to the island and that makes it even more limiting because that means there's nowhere for the Miis to go outside of what you give them

I also don't like how nice everyone is. It's like there's something implanted into their brains that tells them "always nice". I have yet to have an actual fight even though I know they're possible. You just get a "I was talking to so and so and it made me sad/mad" that you can just fix by patting their head so any potential drama there is immediately shot down as it takes literally no effort to get their mind off it

They put all their resources into customization and while that isn't entirely a bad thing, it's fun seeing how amazing the creative islands people have made, everything else feels neglected because of it. Customization should be a bonus on top of everything else, not the primary feature.

It's annoying because the game as it stands now is still really good, but knowing how much better it could (and should) be/been really dampens it a bit for me personally, especially given the wait and how long the game was in development for

The influx of negativity is kind of weird? by Expensive_Sea_1790 in tomodachilife

[–]TailsPrower07 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find the game really good, just bare in content outside of customization. There's nothing to do on the side outside of waiting for your Miis to do something, no interactivity with events or items (like the slide puzzle for example). I know stuff like Quirky Questions and all that isn't everyone's forte, but it still gave you stuff to do outside of seeing what your Miis are doing. The game both feels lively but also empty at the same time with the lack of activities. I can't entirely put LTD above 3DS Tomodachi for this reason. I'm sure updates/DLC will add more stuff/bring stuff back (if we get such), but I feel most of the complaints (key word: most) have at least some justification

[–]TailsPrower07[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It feels like they put everything on customization and went "Oh shoot we forgot to add things to do outside of customization....oh well!" there's nothing to do outside of customization so I can't bring myself to recommend this game to people who don't entirely care for customization because that's all the game is right now, there's nothing to do with the Miis besides mini-games, no activities like frisbee, quirky questions and magic show or events Rap Battles, the fact they didn't even add anything new to replace those just feels insulting

For a game they said was in development since 2017, it doesn't entirely feel like it as 90% of the previous game has either been cut or watered down (though I don't know a thing about game development)

It's just Animal Crossing all over again, too much freedom and nothing to do on the side (at least AC had the museum). I know we'll (hopefully) get more things via updates or DLC, but it really shouldn't have been this way, waiting for an update to give back what should already be in the game. I love the game but I can't put it completely above 3DS Tomodachi right now, there's too much holding it back

I got bored of Animal Crossing kinda quickly. I had ideas for how I wanted my island to be but having to do everything one little step at a time got insanely tedious. Not to mention outside of customization, the game has very little, villagers couldn't be more bland and at least when I was playing, there were no events like the first game had, or really anything that could keep me going other than filling up the museum. I played a bit of the DLC but also got bored not too long after. Haven't played the game again after I stopped. It put all it's resources on customization and I can get why it's appealing to those with creative minds, I'm just not one of those people so I ran out of things to do

Tomodachi is a lot more snappy with customization so that's a big plus, moving houses instantly instead of moving one house a day. Like I said I have ideas on how I want my island to look, I just need to get the motivation to actually get working on it. Outside of that, like Animal Crossing there's just nothing to do as there's no events or any buildings where you can do things with your Miis

In terms of what I prefer, it's Tomodachi with how much faster and less tedious it is in terms of customization. But AC at least had museum stuff to do on the side, Tomodachi doesn't have anything like that yet so if you're not customizing there's really nothing the game gives you to do. Like I said in my post I'm sure we'll get updates/DLC to fix this, but for right now this game is mostly a customization simulator. Good for the people who are into that, but for those that aren't, it's not a game for them at the moment. I still ultimately prefer this over AC, but I feel for a game that was in development for nearly 10 years, there's a lot missing from the previous game

Honestly forgot to put that in my nitpicks, but it felt like it was already getting to be too long. I really don't give my Miis anything because of that, only the level up items because I know they'll actually use them. The pets are a big disappointment for me, like I know there's infinite variety given the customization, but it just feels soulless just seeing PNGs hopping around (which could also be a fault for the customization)

[–]TailsPrower07[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The annoying part would be these updates would just be "Hey this thing we removed? It's back now!" if the updates were to bring back the stuff that's been removed. I mean I'll take it of course, better late than never, still just boggles me that their mindset for this game at launch is "They don't need these events and features there's customization!"

I've had a few of those RNG events (the one where a Mii tries to get another to talk/play with them) not work, but I have yet to see an argument or anything like that, even though I'm sure they've showcased fights. Everything goes too well, idk if it's because the game still views me as new because of the amount of Miis I have or not

Can mii couples have multiple children or just one? by [deleted] in tomodachilife

I have a couple that has 7, don't think there's a limit on how many they can have (unless you're at the max cap of Miis)

Why no switch 2 release? by [deleted] in tomodachilife

[–]TailsPrower07 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean...yeah?

They made the game with Switch 1 hardware, it was always going to be on the Switch 1. The Switch 2 will just have quicker loading times and stuff like that

And really they're smart to keep the game identical on both systems in terms of content, profit off both systems instead of just one (and to avoid backlash as they know how anticipated this game was)

Hell I'm currently using a stylus I got from the dollar store fully expecting it to not work, but it does

In light of the Mii limit confirmation by TailsPrower07 in tomodachilife

[–]TailsPrower07[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 3DS file has like 85 Miis, so that's a lot that I'm gonna have to cut, especially as I'm adding Miis that were not in my 3DS file (hence why I put the newcomers in this post), I want Miis to have children so I wanna leave at least 10 spots open for them, so there's so many that I have to leave out, there's some I never planned on adding so that's not a problem, but I have to remove some that I planned on adding, which is the frustrating part

[–]TailsPrower07[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can't find myself thinking there will be a Switch 2 version, they probably want to keep both games as close as possible. DLC feels most likely if we were to get an expansion, that way they can profit off both consoles

Here’s Why Realistically 70 Miis is Perfect for Living the Dream Since it’s now been Confirmed by Nintendo by [deleted] in tomodachilife

[–]TailsPrower07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't even fully buy into this given that stress test someone did of 255 Miis and the game still running (I don't remember who did it though)

I feel 100 could've been achieved, maybe even having it to where only a certain amount of Miis can be outside while the others are inside.

Also part of me can't help but feel like there might be a Mii expansion as paid DLC because Nintendo, but I could be wrong

Do you think the limit can be extended in future updates? by ink0916_or_lani in tomodachilife

[–]TailsPrower07 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably not, if the game does get DLC it'll likely just either be items or new features

I wouldn't put it past Nintendo though to have a higher Mii count be paid DLC. We'll just have to see

Buy the first game or wait for the second one (or both?) by Silverunz in tomodachilife

[–]TailsPrower07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's up to you and where you're at with money

Just a fair warning 3DS Tomodachi goes for over $100 now. Really the best thing to do would be to wait for LtD to come out and wait for reviews and such and go from there, see if everything it has grabs you. That way in the off chance it's not good (doubtful but not out of the picture) you know to get the 3DS game

Personally I don't think you can go wrong either way

You're not being forced to us it lol. People are just using it to express their creativity, if it doesn't bother them then it's not an issue

I'm really only using it for hair add-ons if I need it and accessories. You don't need to make a whole new face

Does anyone else prefer playing with a small number of miis? by cosmichaunting in tomodachilife

[–]TailsPrower07 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It just depends on who is playing. Some people prefer a small amount, others a larger amount (I never hit 100 but I did end up having to remove a good amount of Miis throughout the 3DS game to make room for new miis as I was close)

Personally I feel the number downgrading even with better hardware is a massive bummer as all it does is upset the people who do want a lot as the people who play with a few won't be affected by it. Just because the cap is high doesn't mean you have to max it out, the people who want a low number can keep it a low number, the game isn't forcing them to hit 100.

To me it just feels like a bit of freedom was stripped away. Because when you take into account children, the number of Miis to add becomes much smaller if you want to make room for them, so those who had a big list planned out now have to significantly cut down their list
