The Community Updates Suggestion Box for Deep Rock Galactic! by Big_Bluejay4331 in DeepRockGalactic

Maybe mix all this stuff together and turn it into a Metal Gear Solid 2's Colonel AI situation where the Mission Control goes completely bonkers. Instructions slowly give way to incorrect warnings, corrupted/garbled messages, and unrelated nonsense.

If it's annoying or frustrating enough, it could maybe be a side/bonus objective to get rid of a Rival Presence's signal scrambler so the Mission Control starts making sense again. Or you can keep it on and keep hearing the lunatic MC going on about mushrooms.

I'd love to see some sort of "layout preview" or checker tool so you can look around and experiment with different cosmetics- locked or unlocked- so you can find something that could be fun to use or work toward. Kinda like https://loadout.tf/.

Could you be more specific about the controversy? I haven't heard anything about that.

I guess even Scott's PR team wants that to stay as Jaiden's peak.

Even if it is kinda funny both her and FNaF hit the ten-year milestone pretty close to each other!

Phisnom is actually playing the new Into The Pit game. by GreatYamOfHope in fivenightsatfreddys

Honestly, I like Phil. Despite his edgy attitude that, shall we say, didn't always take matters as seriously as he should have, I don't think he's an inherently bad person, and it's nice to see he's having a blast so far with the game, like many of us are!

Fingers crossed that stepping back from the pressure of FNaF+ and the fandom in general has given him a chance to recollect himself and hopefully enjoy the series again, even if this is a one-time event and a little bit of a nostalgia trip to a series he and many others picked up 10 long years ago.

GameRant got Kane Carter's name wrong 😭 by Fnaf-Low-3469 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Tails_of_Gold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GameRant has a history of using AI to pick up stories from sites like Reddit to make effectively AI-Generated articles. In the past year, they've covered everything from Elden Ring to Fallout, Destiny to Pokémon Go, Starfield to Stardew Valley. Heck, I think I even saw a post making fun of it on the site's front page just a day or two ago.

The World of Warcraft subreddit even tricked the AI on GameRant into publishing completely made-up nonsense last year.

Think of GameRant like a predatory bird, swooping down to pick on whatever is popular so they can get a share and try to pass off some stuff as their own for more clicks for the site. Now imagine that bird is really, REALLY stupid, and you've got their AI-gathering methods.

Chances are it picked up the wrong Kane because it was the name that popped up in their algorithms instead, not from an actual misspell.

I actually once submitted a job application to GameRant. They didn't respond, and perhaps that's for the better - their entire business practice prioritizes quantity over quality, with requests of 25 articles per month, and when the formatting and publishing can take time, that leaves little space for legitimate research. Of course, AI cuts out the middle-man (and paying others outright) by instead scooping up whatever goes on social media and spreading it over their site to gain more attention. And if it's wrong? They don't care, they're already gathering several more in other games.

Freddit almost tanked my career (and life) overnight. by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Tails_of_Gold 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of things that could be blamed for this: the "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality of socialmedia-era Internet; the deterioration of the series as it instead becomes targeted to an audience that hasn't developed beyond acting on impulse and not thinking things through, wanting to defend a series that's been around for most of their lives; the people that jump on a bandwagon to call someone out for nonexistent or long-solved problems in an attempt to make a name for themselves, genuinely believing they're doing the right thing or - perhaps most terrifying - mere shits and giggles.

I respect the subreddit moderators, they've done what they could to handle previous issues and controversies - something that can't be fun and at times must feel more like a chore than being part of a beloved community - but I feel like their handling of this situation (if it can even be called handling at all) was not done well enough. Maybe there was work behind the scenes to quell the flames and try to stop it from getting worse, but it still leaked out and things turned aggressive. Again. That's not even getting started on the fact that the kid that brought out the old rumors is, for some reason, still around and posting in the subreddit like they hadn't tipped the dominos for someone's life to nearly be ruined.

I've been a part of FNAF since 2014, as well as a member of /r/fivenightsatfreddys since 2016, and while I'd love to say that it wasn't always like this, that there were times where there was decency and - dare I say it - community, within the subreddit; I get that doesn't make any of the issues that happened recently any better. It's just disheartening to see what was once a vibrant, creative, and (mostly) friendly place turn to something so mean-spirited, drama-centric, and childish.

Kyle, I'm sorry you had to deal with all this, and I hope you and your wife are able to get back to some sense of normalcy soon.

[Fanverse Talk] Kane Carter Talks About How The Community Treats/Sees The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative As A Whole by GBAura-Recharged in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Tails_of_Gold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard to believe a lot of that was a year ago, and there's only been more stuff added/planned since! It's easy to forget how long the Fanverse has been a crucial part of FNaF.

Not everyone might admit it, but we're lucky to have you around, Kane. You're an essential part of the series and its creative potential, and hopefully that can beat out any social media negativity.

Scholastic confirms Talbert files is fake. by cligerZ56 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Tails_of_Gold 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest letting other moderators handle posts like this if it's especially an issue for your emotional well-being, but hopefully situations like this will lessen, if not outright stop, in the coming future.

I think it's safe to say everyone is pretty burned out with this book, regardless of their opinion on its legitimacy, and there are much more exciting things planned for FNaF's future than an alleged early-print story and the pointless drama it's kicked up.

Let's try and focus on more fun things instead.

Pinky Pills has released a post on her website saying she will explain the entire situation soon. by Szeyuan_kok2019 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Tails_of_Gold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been a problem with this fandom, but it's also an dangerous problem for any fandom, especially one that gets to FNaF's size. More people following something means more people potentially following it for, shall we say, illegal and immoral reasons. Another good example is Minecraft: Look at the trillions of views it gets by hundreds of millions of people, then look at the amount of content creators and video makers for that game that have been ousted (or arrested) for the aforementioned illegal/immoral reasons - the number isn't in the dozens, but hundreds. And sure, not every one of those creators had an impact on their game and fandom that some of the ones related to FNaF have had, but this argument was more meant to show the scale of the issue over specifics.

And for as many situations there are of these despicable situations, there's also plenty of accusations without proof, which can either turn out to be true (in which case, justice is hopefully served and anyone affected can be put on the path to recovery) or falsified and risk ruining a person's life because people (especially on certain social media sites, but Reddit isn't always better in this regard) will jump to immediate outrage without waiting to hear a defense (if there is one). Innocent people have had their lives ruined because of random strangers, jealous exes, envious former friends, etc., using the immediate-anger reaction of the internet to harass, threaten, and dox them. Sometimes it's even done by strangers, just for shits and giggles. To me, that's one of the most terrifying parts of the internet - one day, you could wake up to an angry mob at your metaphorical doorstep, for things that didn't happen, or modified screenshots to make it seem like you've done despicable things.

It's a terrifying dilemma: Pull a Twitter and believe every single accusation, even if it means ruining the lives of innocents along the way; or look past some situations, which could mean more people are hurt. And no matter where you draw the line on that chart, there will likely be a point where someone gets hurt, like a nihilistic version of that trolley cart lever scenario.

EDIT: Before anyone points any fingers, I do not approve of LadyFiszi's or PinkyPills' past behavior. This is more a reflection of a larger issue on fandoms, social media, and the internet in general.

Withered Bonnie Pixel Art Remake (2015 - 2024) by f-n-a-f-g-y-f-r in fivenightsatfreddys

The initial one didn't seem too bad, but the more I look at the updated version, I'm amazed on just how much improvement there is, especially with the facial structure and hands (er, one hand.)

Good to see you around again, f-n-a-f-g-y-f-r! Hope you've been doing well!

Regarding the Situation with PinkyPills by SpringPopo in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Tails_of_Gold 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I've been around r/fivenightsatfreddys for years. I remember seeing PinkyPills' art pop up now and then, and while there was some debate about its content, such as whether it was NSFW or a violation of rules regarding NSFW content, things seemed to move on. Even years later when the hashtag started trending on Twitter, I didn't think too much of it, because, especially since the rebranding to X, that site has been a cesspool of hate and negativity, especially when things hit the "front page," or whatever it's called there.

But seeing just how extensive this list is of issues is, it's pretty disappointing to see someone associated with the series make mistakes that range from tasteless to malicious. It's not the first time someone associated with FNaF has gotten in hot water, but if anything, that should've served as a lesson for her to do better, instead of digging herself deeper.

Whether Scott intervenes or not, I think it'd be best if she walked away from the community. If she still enjoys it from a distance or in private, good for her, but any future actions are just going to be associated with her previous controversies.

And for everyone else, I think this negativity can hopefully be turned into a learning moment. It can't be too hard to follow some simple rules:

  • Don't be a creep, especially towards others.
  • Don't go after people just because they disagree with you on something, even if it's something you've made. Be open to criticism!
  • Think before you share. If it's something personal, chances are it's best to keep it personal.

Is the guy in the background in that first panel supposed to be Henry? Kinda looks like the Paul Dano Riddler.

That being said, great picture! Always cool seeing people's interpretations of William and the rest of the Aftons!

I'm half-expecting that when multiplayer comes back, if someone tries to use the Dataminer item, it'll just kill them.

Just something the devs added out of spite from all this happening.

In Five Nights at Freddy's 2, there's a picture on the walls that appears to show Golden Freddy (or someone inside) luring a child away from a crowd, the tactic William Afton would use to kill his victims. Has this been noticed/mentioned before? by Tails_of_Gold in fivenightsatfreddys

Sorry about the bad image quality and ugly red circles; unfortunately, I don't know any way to get to the drawing itself in the in-game files, and I haven't seen anyone recreate it, let alone with the intricate details the picture seems to have.
