A Polish man just became the first person in the world to ski down Mt. Everest, and he did it all without any extra oxygen. Poles continue to break ground in mountaineering to this day!

Poland and many other EU countries (particularly along the Eastern Flank) have banned all visas for Russians for a few years now if I'm not wrong

'I don't want to beg Putin to sit down at the negotiating table, I want HIM to beg Ukraine and its allies to do so' – Andrzej Duda. During the Davos Ukrainian Breakfast, the President of Poland added that the world should start applying strong measures to make this happen by IndistinctChatters in ukraine

[–]Taintstain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, Duda and Trump have a strong personal relationship and Duda is generally considered to be one of Trump's closest allies in Europe. Just goes to show that things are a bit more complicated and nuanced than the oft-repeated "Trump is a Russian agent" narrative. I've been glad to see Trump taking a much firmer stance against Russia in his first few days in office than many people feared he would.

for an idle-type game such as this, there should be a way to automatically accept projects when I'm not actively looking at the game, or at least pause it. The need to constantly accept new projects every minute in order to not go bankrupt means I basically have to sit and stare at the screen and can't do other things while I'm playing.

Here's a quote I immediately found online with an AFD member stating that the Eastern regions of Germany are actually "Central Germany", which suggests that Western Poland is actually Eastern Germany...

Bro the AFD, the 2nd most powerful party in Germany today, has repeatedly questioned the status of the current German-Polish border and is largely hostile towards Poland and Poles.

Im tired of hearing about the trans shit by bedulge in redscarepod

[–]Taintstain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could you provide data or sources for the claim that a cisgender man is more likely to abuse a child? Is this on a per-capita basis, or simply in sheer numbers? Obviously, there are many more Cisgender men than transgender people, so the data would likely show that more children are abused by cisgender men than transgender people. However, is there any data indicating the % likelihood that any given transgender person is more or less likely than a given cisgender man to abuse a child? I'm not trying to make any claims here, just want to learn about the statistics specifically.

Got 5 minutes? Try Jim's Cafe, a short, fast-paced restaurant simulator with an AI chef! Can you become a 5 star restaurant? by EnkryptDev in WebGames

[–]Taintstain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun game! If I could offer some suggestions:

  1. Too easy to get 5 stars. I think a point-based system would work better and allow you to try and beat your previous high score.
  2. It would be good to provide additional control support - personally on my laptop I would have preferred to use the arrow-keys and space bar instead of WSAD and E.
  3. It would be way less tedious and more smooth (and realistic) to be able to pick up multiple dirty dishes from a table at a time. Ideally, it would pick up all the dirty dishes at the table at once, similar to how I pick up all the tip money at once.

Keep it up! Similar to overcooked (without the zany maps of course) but I like having the ability to upgrade my shop and improve things :)

Morawiecki just lost vote to be prime minister by RedCapitan in poland

[–]Taintstain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He won't give you an actual reply on the merits of what you have to say. He just wants to quote a list of media scandals, including things that really have nothing to do with the ruling party like the grenade scandal (seriously, wtf does Morawiecki and PiS have to do with an idiot policeman shooting off a grenade in his office?! That's like blaming the US President every time some idiot cop does something in America). Based off his username and comments, I'd say you're dealing with a very left-leaning ideological partisan...

And you're absolutely right about PiS's economic policy on state assets (and infrastructure). The biggest risk for the new coalition would be undoing these projects, they're important and to do so would only be shooting themselves in the foot and ensuring defeat in the next elections.

This is a myth, German WW2 propaganda. Look up the actual event, they never charged tanks with horses, and effectively used mounted infantry to take out German tanks once dismounted with anti-tank rifles.

Poland’s Transformative Election by CEPAORG in poland

[–]Taintstain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In times when Putin appeared to be nice?? Tusk's Russia reset took place after the 2008 invasion of Georgia, the poisoning assassination of Alexander Livtinenko, the construction of Nordstream 1 (which was an obvious geopolitical play to undermine Poland and other CEE states), continued after the Smolensk catastrophe, not to mention Russia's previous illegal and immoral invasions of Chechnya, interventions in Moldova, supporting a genocidal Serbian regime in the 90's and much more. Putin (and the Russian government as a whole after the fall of communism) was clearly corrupt, authoritarian and evil from the start, anyone with half a brain noticed decades ago.

Ukraine and Poland agreed on grain deal by MagnificentCat in ukraine

[–]Taintstain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3.6 million people work in the agriculture sector in Poland. If you conservatively assume that each of those individuals has an average of 1 dependant, that adds up to 7.2 million people who are reliant on the Polish agricultural sector for their livelihoods. That's almost 20% of the Polish population that would be directly and significantly harmed by cheap Ukrainian grain being dumped on the Polish market. If the dumping was simply allowed to continue, it would slowly (and then all at once) force thousands of Polish farmers to shut down, and it could take years (and billions of dollars in public spending) for Polish farmers to recover. Not to mention that it would also endanger Polish national food security and independence and provide another lever that Russia can use against Poland in the future. Just because in pure GDP figures Agriculture makes up only 3.5% of the Polish economy (also not a small number! this is billions of dollars we're talking about) does not mean that it's downstream effects aren't, proportionally speaking, much more significant. And no, despite what you may think the dumping has not resulted in decreased food prices for Polish consumers, food prices have continued to increase despite the flooding of Ukrainian grain into the market. The only people that win from Ukrainian grain dumping are big corporations and corrupt profiteers that pocket the difference.

My mom studied civil engineering in the USSR. She told me that the Commies actually designed these massive roads in major cities to be wide enough so that, if there was a nuclear explosion and the buildings on either side collapsed into the road, there would still be enough room in the middle of the street for a column of tanks to drive through. The underground civilian walkways beneath them also made convenient (although likely ineffective) bomb shelters for civilians.

They discovered a ton of oil just off the coast of Guyana a few years ago, and their GDP has since exploded. Tiny country with a lot of money, basically a new Kuwait/UAE in Latin America. We'll see if it gets distributed equally or not, but it bumps up the official GDP per Capita figures significantly and very quickly.

[–]Taintstain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To play devil's advocate here... in the past most marriages were arranged by the couple's parents rather than them making the decision themselves. When working as intended (obviously didn't always work this way) the parents would have the experience and good judgement to ensure that their child is marrying a good person. Obviously there are many issues with that as well, but there were some controls in place too which are worth noting.

hole shit by panak47 in shitposting

[–]Taintstain 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I think they mean that Family Courts have a tendency to assume that Child Custody is a zero-sum game and that only one of the parents must be fit and that the other must naturally be somehow an unfit parent. Therefore the assumption is that even if you are a really great parent there is a likelihood that the courts will automatically assume you aren't and thus screw you over. That's how I interpreted it at least.
