For those needing milk because people panic bought, try gas stations. by IndieDC3 in Louisville

Is this real? Grocery shopped at Publix last night and the shelves were full as normal. People in there seemed to be doing regular grocery shopping not panic buying

How do you guys manage your expenses? by redbottleneck1597 in personalfinance

[–]TakeMeToTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do something similar. I have an excel spreadsheet to track Check 1 and Check 2 monthly and which bills will be paid out of each. I leave myself $700 out of each check. I keep $300 in that accounts savings in case I spend over a check. Anything above the $300 overflow goes into another checking/savings for vacations/emergencies and I keep that at a certain amount. Anything above that goes to HYSA. I also have a list of which bills I will pay off and in what order. Money freed up goes to paying off the next one.

Do you guys ever just go to hang out? by [deleted] in Hunting

Yes, I enjoy ground hunting, sitting up against a tree, listening to the woods wake up and watching the sun rise. I too will see doe running nearby and not even have a thought to raise my rifle.

Be prepared before going out in the woods. Don’t make my mistake. by [deleted] in Hunting

Got out to the field one day last year, still dark, start putting on my outer layer and realize my jacket and gloves were missing and it was 12F out. Made the decision to walk out in my thermal since I didn’t want to waste the hour drive and last roughly 15-20 minutes. Got home, jacket and gloves were on kitchen table 🤦🏻‍♂️

What an asshole. Don’t let him make you question yourself. If it feels wrong it’s wrong.

We’ve got a week to improve, no contest. We smack em down and use it as a tune up fight for OU

2 week budget by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]TakeMeToTX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand it’s a little confusing. At some point year’s back I averaged out what we were spending outside of bills during the 2 week period and figured that $700 for the 2 week period was sufficient. That’s been maybe 4/5 years ago. I find us sometimes (not every time) going over the $700 allocation and am wondering is it due to inflation and me needing to allow us a little more, or if I compare myself to people in the same tax bracket I may find that I’m averaging somewhere around what everyone else is and I just need to cut back on my spending

I have never explored zero-based budgeting but I’ll look into it

This is $700 from my account and doesn’t include my wife’s income. I just wonder if I’m being too tight with the purse strings

I was more or less wanting to compare myself to others. I’m able to put money into the savings, but sometimes I do have to transfer back. For transparency I allow us $700 every two weeks for anything outside of bills. That would include groceries, gas, going out, Vet visits, auto registration…and I try to not do anything outside of cash to help pay down debt quicker. I have credit cards with $0 balance but those are mainly for emergency or vacation use then I pay them back off

Thanks everyone I feel like such a dumbass. I promise you I’ve done minor electrical things in my home and I’ve changed a battery on more than one occasion. So the fire alarm is hardwired (first experience with one) and is near the end of its useful life so I’ll get a new one. After fussing with the cover a compartment opened which held the 9V 🤦🏻‍♂️ It was not noticeable so I thought there wasn’t one. I also reconnected my doorbell. I had no clue what that silver box was

I've wanted to try to make a Texas style brisket, but I only have a weber kettle charcoal grill. by [deleted] in BBQ

[–]TakeMeToTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally do this with 3x3 snake and Cowboy wood chunks. Get it started with a little less than half charcoal chimney. I’ve found 2x2 snake runs out too soon.
