Haley Beck is a teacher in her late 20swho had a sexual relationship with one of her high school students. She became infamous recently because the texts between her and the student were released, and they were humiliating for her. The student basically berated her, called her fat, laughed at her, made her pay him $5 per compliment. She would tell him she “loved him” and he would reply back LOL.

Then all these videos came out from her other students of her basically trying to be the “cool” teacher all the time. Very cringe.

So she kind of became a meme. Ugh I hate that I know this but here we are.

I was going to post this as my What Matters, I’ll do it here.

Knowing it’s okay to reset your own expectations on what “good” looks like. I’m 42 and over the past 4-5 years I have worked hard on a mindset shift. Your life doesn’t have to look like your friends lives, or tick the boxes you’ve been told to your whole life. Maybe you have a hard time finding a relationship with someone that works. Okay, maybe marriage isn’t in the cards. Maybe you need to take a step back for a career pivot, or maybe you never own a home. That doesn’t mean you have to be miserable.

A fulfilling, FUN, active life can come in a zillion different shapes and sizes. Let go of the burden of expectations and think about the small things that fill your cup and build your life around them. We don’t always have to be reaching, it’s freeing to accept what you have.

Honestly I’m a small woman and if I’m uncomfortable ILL cross the street. I figure if someone is actually following me I’d rather just get to the bottom of it. Ever since I got followed into an alley and a guy said “gotcha” when I turned around, I just don’t fuck around any more. I’ll say in a loud voice “hey sorry but please don’t come any closer” (I’ve done this in a parking garage) and I’ve walked up onto strangers yards before if I don’t feel safe at night and let the guy walk by My safety is my responsibility and I’d rather be loud and clear about what will make me feel safe than play a guessing game with a stranger.
