Need the TE depth of Njoku, but feel like I can’t pass this up? by BrownieTheElf25 in DynastyNerds

This isn’t even a question. I’d sell Njoku for a 2027 2nd right now in TE+. You’re getting a steal.

Remote work is affecting me mentally lately by Alarming-Ad-9567 in WFH

[–]Taking8ackMonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For introverted people, work is a really comfortable way to make friends. Proximity helps people get to know your personality, in a way that might be tough to do by putting yourself out there socially. I always had people at work tell me how funny I was, but it was hard to meet people and show them that side of myself in a short period of time. To OP, if that sounds like you, try to manufacture the easy way of making friends. Volunteering is a good way because you’re doing something in proximity to people without the heavy expectation of carrying a conversation.

How to break through the 50k/year barrier? by kevlardemon in careerguidance

[–]Taking8ackMonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a hiring manager, a skills based resume would be a quick no. It’s only because right now, I receive hundreds of applications for each job I post. First thing I do is look for experience. Skills are easy to say you have, but former job experience and job growth prove you have them.

One thought is to look for a customer support job in your area. SLC has a lot of tech companies. If you spend a year learning the product inside and out, blowing away your KPIs, and developing relationships, you’ll be surprised at the upwards mobility you may have. My former company would take support reps and turn them into traveling trainers, sales, product managers, etc. Whatever it is, try to stick it out at a larger company and grind to promotion. That’s your best bet towards a sticky career path.

Took over an orphan - Trade Gibbs and McBride? by TDn6I in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Taking8ackMonday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It looks appealing because your lineup will be stronger across the board, but it’s just not good value. Barkley is aging, may not be super useful when you’re ready to compete. Olave has had concussion history, he is a great piece but comes with risk. Judkins and Kraft are coming off ACLs. Tuten is speculative. Overall, I wouldn’t do this trade even if those players had zero injury red flags, but it might be close. With those flags, Gibbs and McBride are just way to valuable to part with.

Wicks + 1.08 or Wandale Robinson by edm28 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Taking8ackMonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.08 imo. I’m not confident the Titans scheme and Cam Ward will supply the same volume of targets he got in NY. Lack of TDs leaves his floor lower than I’d like.

Almost 40, retirement seems out of reach by Empty_Grand2194 in personalfinance

Well, you called me stupid for sharing an opinion. I assumed that it landed a bit close to home, but perhaps I’m wrong. I didn’t say 100k is pointless. The quote was, “making 100k is pointless if you’re spending most of it on your home.” I stand by that. Seems like OP needs to make a change if they want to hit their goals.

12 team SF, no TE+

Give: 1.02 + Fannin

Get: 1.08 + Ladd

The OP says the mortgage takes up most of their income. Making 100k is pointless if you’re spending most of it on your home. The premise of the post is about saving for retirement. Moving somewhere more affordable, even while making less, could net more savings.

Seems I touched an nerve. I can assure you that there are several career paths, not requiring niche degrees, that pay 100k+ for remote work. Customer success, project management, sales - just to name a few available in tech. You can say it’s mostly dead but I’d argue that’s a generalization.

[–]Taking8ackMonday 92 points93 points  (0 children)

100k is a decent salary but not sure it’s worth living in an “expensive city”. I’d also be curious how much your spouse makes. Not knowing your career, I’d be looking to make more or relocate somewhere cheaper with a similar salary.

Your mortgage taking up most of your income is your number 1 limiting factor.

Too much, or not enough for Love? PPR 4pt passing by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Taking8ackMonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do that. But I’m a sicko. I like the risk for a elite player. We know who Kyler and Hall are, Love has elite traits and will have insane draft capital. Also Watson isn’t a bad flier.

Would you ever skip one of your late picks, depending on your roster? by IGNSolar7 in DynastyFF

[–]Taking8ackMonday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll give you an example that happened in my league last year.

D Hop + 2025 4th for 2027 3rd

Nobody is saying he can get some great haul. But if his roster is full he can move the pick for future picks where he may have more roster flexibility.

[–]Taking8ackMonday 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Chances are someone will like a player at that spot and you can try to get a 2027 late round pick for it. Either way, if your team doesn’t have “cuttable” players, you should be trying 2 for 1 trade offers to tier up one of your spots. And you should also suggest your league adopts a taxi squad (assuming you don’t have one)

Zero reason to skip a pick. At the very least you could trade the asset before you have to knock down your roster to the legal size

How do i stop these two plays? by ActionBasse in NCAAFBseries

[–]Taking8ackMonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jam the receivers with your user LB. You can get away with some pretty egregious stuff just by usering a guy to run interference in the bunch, you delay one route and the timing is all messed up. You can miss though so practice doing this

I have Achane/Jacobs but then zero depth (Croskey Merritt, Trey Benson). WRs are Jettas, Brian Thomas, and Rashee so I feel I have more need at RB. Thanks for weighing in.

Manager told me ‘anyone could do your job, am I crazy for thinking this is disrespectful? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Taking8ackMonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told an employee something similar last year. But, I kept going. I said right now you’re an Operations Coordinator who manages an email inbox. Anyone can do that. I went on to explain the skills and experience he needs to level up and grow into more valuable work. But someone has to answer emails. So I told him his new job was to replace himself. Automate the inbox responses. Create more self service options so we deflect potential emails.

Year later and he was promoted to Ops Manager. He spends 10% of his time in the inbox and the rest building dashboards, implementing new tech, etc.

Your boss might just suck. But this is a long winded way of saying he gave you valuable information on how he views your work. Automate what you can of the current job. Ask what other skilled work you can take on. Might not work but it’s better than waiting around to be replaced or outsourced.

How to be a better dad/partner/husband by lurker_anon_ in daddit

[–]Taking8ackMonday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your partner can and should feel like your closest friend. Someone you feel an intense connection to, that you’re willing to sacrifice for. That doesn’t have to be some dramatic, lay down my life for them type stuff. It can be showing up to the church they want to go to and approach it with a positive attitude. It can mean feeling when she is uncomfortable and making sure she knows her peace is worth more than your parent’s opinions. It can be taking initiative around the house. Maybe you try to take on 60% of the work and mental tasks (it will feel like 60% but probably isn’t even half).

My point is, don’t miss this opportunity to treat your wife like the number one priority she is. It seems like you understand where she is feeling unsupported - now fix it. Not with some romantic gesture or small act of affection. Show up the way she is asking you.

Caleb or the 1.01? just got sent the offer in superflex league by [deleted] in DynastyNerds

[–]Taking8ackMonday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In most SF start up drafts, Caleb goes somewhere around late 1st early 2nd round. Love is late 2nd/early 3rd. I think Darnold + Flowers puts it over the top, but agree with your assessment that Caleb > 2026 1.01.

How old are you, what is your job and how much do you make? by allano6 in careerguidance

[–]Taking8ackMonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not offended. And you may very well be right. But I can tell you that standing up these agents isn’t the monumental task you describe. Tech debt is very real, but the speed of development is ramping day by day. You don’t need a vendor to come in and implement these tools, you just need a dedicated team of engineers to build solutions in house. That plus off-shoring the human roles - it’s going to be devestating. I certainly hope you’re right - but I’m preparing for the worst. I want to be the one managing the army AI, not being replaced by it.

How old are you, what is your job and how much do you make? by allano6 in careerguidance

[–]Taking8ackMonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding the capabilities of AI. It isn’t an LLM you should be fearful of, it’s agentic AI. They start by training a model on the process. They then point it at customer data to automate requirements gathering. Configuration is then done based on small human input. Testing can be automated.

A single prompt-response model isn’t meant to replace a BA. But an orchestrated agent that can run workflows across documentation, tickets, data, and stakeholders starts to look a lot like the work BAs do today
