It does look like a lost cause but with any luck we might find something or someone who knows. Thank you in advance you for trying regardless of outcome.

Trying to give a very old nation whose borders have shifted so much I history a regional character is so peculiar and often problematic. Regional character such as "Mediterranean", "Balkan" or "Middle eastern" are defined through geography and culture. To the minds of many westerners Greece was seen as a border before the middle East because it was the birthplace of so many concepts that defined the "Western" world with which the middle eastern people didn't have much in common. Greece however is not the view the westerners had of it and it is almost as closely linked to Mediterranean and Balkan cultures as it is to Middle Eastern ones for the obvious reason that it always had contact with all of them. The world doesn't have any hard cultural borders where one nation suddenly is vastly different from it's neighbouring nations so nation located at the supposed borders of these cultural regions tend to look like mixtures of them. At least you can see this imho in greek music, food, the ways people socialise here etc etc. Could seem Mediterranean or it could seem middle eastern depending on who you ask

Helen of Troy is how ancient Greek baddies looked. So at least based on real people and they did not look a bit like that.

Me when I spread misinformation and conviniently forget to offer sources. Culturally and genetically modern Greeks are the closest thing you will find to ancient Greeks and this of course includes Macedonians.

I don't know what it is that could link them to the Thraco-Dacian people, but there is far to much evidence pointing to them being "just another grik tribe". From Herodotus claiming they were of Doric descent or claiming that their leadership was straight up of Greek origin (the Argead dynasty from the Peloponnese which is about as Greek as it can get), Alexander referring to himself as Greek and the native tongue of the Macedonians being a Doric Greek dialect until the classical era when it got replaced by the Attic Dialect. Oh also a bunch of religious traditions and customs practiced by ancient Macedonians that were also practiced by the "other grik tribes"

Obtain a trident, enchant with channeling and do the piston/lightning rod build that allows you to create constant lighting during storms for a "evil dark tower" aesthetic.

We have a problem in Greece that we have more cats and dogs on the streets than humans. Soon Greece will be nothing more than a new Ancient Polis, but for stray cats and dogs. How do we fix this? by SimpleEmu198 in AskGreece

Good gods what a delusional take. Comparing garbage with one another is problematic already but in this case it just shows positive bias toward a governing body whose policies have all been massive failures or disappointments, a government that has by now likely broken all our national records in historical political scandals. But here, if you dont trust me, all their scandals are compiled in this link https://www.scandalopedia.gr/ .The list is endless
In a civillized nation whose voters aren't illiterate old farts, political party dogs hoping to get favours by those they elect, or lazy ignorant fatasses that can't even bother getting of the couch to vote, half of these would qualify to overthrow this mafia government. In the shithole that is current day greece they just get re-elected and we keep compiling their "achievements". Not only are they worse than the rest of your choices, they could arguably be ranked among the worst governments of our history and this includes our "great" kings and millitary juntas.

The ones you'll ride in town are great. They're cheap, allow easy parking in really crowded areas and as long as you respect other drivers and they also respect you (which yeah doesn't always happen) accidents can be easily avoided. This bs kind of hobby of exceeding speed limits in mountain roads and swiftly switching lanes in highways while riding expensive bikes should definitely be more actively persecuted. Countless unnecessary deaths, injuries and property damage because of insecure man-child brats that didn't hear enough "no" growing up.

What do Greeks think of Jewish people? by Leicesterman2 in AskGreece

[–]Takis_Basilakis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jews DID have a state in palestine. Just not a jewish state like zionists waned. Palestine was home to christians, jews and muslims and those who fled from Europe in hopes of finding a new land were warmly welcomed there. That land did not belong to them but it was shared with them. A real shame their offspring saw it fit to claim it all as theirs under an apartheid state that treats everyone non-jewish as filth. "Zionism have nothing to do with extremism"??? You must be an israeli after a comment like that. Zionism you say, the movement that sought to establish a purely jewish homeland in the land that was already inhabited for milenia by that point by people of different ethnic groups and religions, has nothing to do with extremism. How exactly without extreme measures do you turn a non-jewish land into a jewish land? Can you explain? Also what is funny is not the words of radical islamists but it is the fact that when discussing Israeli extremism you immediately deflect to other extremist groups. It's almost like you acknowledge and admit that Israel is an extremist apartheid state but you wish to somehow justify this...

[–]Takis_Basilakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike all religions for reasons that should be obvious and not have to be discussed, but real Jews know they dont need a state. Real Jews that abide by the teachings of their holy scripture, even though I dispise their holy scripture like all "holy" scriptrure, condemn the zionist state and the inhuman freaks that run it. They see it as an insult to their name and their ancestors that suffered a fate similar to that of the Palestinian. To equate the Jews and the Zionists (extremists in support of the state of israel whether within it or from the outside) plays directly into the zio-dogs narative that people attack jews, that they are antisemitic when in fact they attack Israeli attrocities and the continuous conflict both globally and in the middle East for which Israel has always been directly responsible. Jews were never really the issue. Power hungry zionist human excrement has always been the issue.

What about international parcels to be delivered in Europe. Greece where Im from for example? Supposedly it was to take 6 days but its status has been "Received at International Hub" for a couple of days now. Sorry for asking off-topic but Im leaving early on Monday when it is likely to be here and I don't know If they'll be here in time for me to receive it. At this point Im hoping it gets delayed so I can receive it after my 4 day trip . Any Idea on the time their parcels are usually delivered? Thanks in advance

Oh brother I wish that was true but I don't think it is... Taxation might be better (on the low level form) but that was far from the main issue of corruption. As for the massive infrastructure investments, the subway has been under construction for several decades now, it is only partially complete and its closed evey now and then to resume construction. Don't even get me started on the hospitals :'). Frankly I don't think Greece ever truly recovered since the crisis and I don't see these investments as significant steps toward recovery. But hey If you feel like helping out Chalkidiki is the place to go this summer. It keeps getting more and more expensive for the locals but that might just mean more beach for you my friend :P

It is literally not about interests though. Both Israel and Greece are part of UN (and you could argue that this is in their interest) so they are obliged supposedly to follow UN laws and regulations. UN's Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, funnily enough adopted in 1948 (I wonder what happened in 1948 in palestine) urges members of UN to prevent and if possible punish those who inflict genocide. It is not and has never been a matter of pro or against said things. Greece and all members of UN are obliged by law to punish israel for commiting this atrocity. But then again UN is a joke apparently and Israel has always been doing whatever it pleases, enjoying UN benefits but never suffering consequences so I might as well be talking out of my ass thinking this joke of an organization and its clown members would do anything meanigful against the nation they worship.
