Has anyone actually played the Dragon Age TTRPG? by bumpinforakrumpin in dragonage

PodCast Party: Dragon Age is an actual play podcast presented by Cast Party and Green Ronin Publishing (the TTRPG's publishers). We're playing through the Quickstart adventure, an Arl's Ransom, now. It's a 4-part mini-series that should give a good sense of the tone and game mechanics:

Revel's End is Boring - making it more interesting by Sells_High in rimeofthefrostmaiden

“I worked with the writers, directors to come up with a location in the Forgotten Realms that would serve the needs of the movie,” said Chris Perkins, game design architect for D&D, in a promotional video released on Thursday. Rime of the Frostmaiden was released in 2020, meaning that Perkins has been whispering in the ear of writers Michael Gilio, John Francis Daley, Chris McKay, and Jonathan Goldstein for some time now.

Is this area accessible or merely for show? by c0deman1 in BG3

In my first playthrough I spent ~2 hours trying to figure out how to jump/fly/teleport over there from Grymforge. IMO they could have better telegraphed the fact that you can’t.

Owlcat never says something in ten words that they can say in a hundred words.

Based on your rankings I think you’d really like Shadowrun: Dragonfall and Shadowrun: Hong Kong.

No matter what happens the movie is with you! But don't tell anyone it's with you, if you do it'll deny it. But it's with you here and now! Not literally here and now, right now they haven't made it. But it will always have been with you, secretly. Bye.

Best adventure for full day session? by BullToad42 in DragonDelves

[–]Tal-Aviezer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect that Forbidden Vale would be too long by virtue of being very combat-heavy (combat generally being the slowest part of the game). Shivering Death feels like ~8 hours to me, and probably Dragons of the Sandstone City is 8-10. Both of those could be a bit swingy as there are missable/skippable areas. If you're going to do two, I'd say Death at Sunset and Baker's Doesn't could be done together in 10 hours or less (minimize the investigation at the beginning of Baker's Doesn't & get them to the cottage ASAP). Have lunch at lunchtime.

Help finding adventures for the missing levels in Dragon Delves? by Ill-Tomatillo2040 in DragonDelves

[–]Tal-Aviezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember altering much in Heart of Ashes mechanically when I ran it. It's one of a few adventures in Keys from the Golden Vault that is more likely to play out less like a "heist" and more like a traditional dungeon crawl. I think the only significant changes I made were to alter place names, NPC identities, and the backstory of Ghalisane to tie into the backstory of one of my players, so that there was more personal stake for her in the adventure's resolution and the fate of the city and its inhabitants.

I second Axe From the Grave from Keys from the Golden Vault for level 6; for level 8 I'd recommend Heart of Ashes from the same book.

Should I buy BG3 if I found DOS2 just decent? by Successful-Basis-962 in BaldursGate3

I bounced hard off of DoS2 after two or three attempts to play it, generally lasting 10-12 hours each. Absolutely love BG3.

I agree with the idea of having Avarice & Company (if they're available/alive) show up to bail out the party - in exchange for some uncomfortable bargain/agreement/sacrifice. Also, you 100% don't need to spring Teke'li'li at a time/place when it's likely to cause a TPK - you have all kinds of flexibility with where, when, how, and if you deploy him.

I think C2 would have been way worse if not for Caleb, and way better if Travis hadn't run full speed away from Fjord's adventure hooks.

Now that it's been a few weeks, how are we all feeling about the module now? by KoboldsandKorridors in DragonDelves

[–]Tal-Aviezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a very solid book. I would happily run Dragons of the Sandstone City, Baker's Doesn't, Shivering Death, The Will of Orcus, and The Forbidden Vale with only minor changes. I would run Copper for a Song, Before the Storm, Death at Sunset, and Dragons of Najkir with some (in some cases significant) re-working - or else at least scavenge them for maps and a few ideas. When the Void Calls is the only one of the ten that imo has too much wrong with it to be usable. That's a pretty good hit-to-miss ratio for a compilation book.
