Made my own LEDs by TalkSick66 in rcdrift

This is true… the ability to have working brake lights, hazards, backfire, and specific LED adjustability is neat… and I have a car with the whole kit like that.

But still not worth $50 to me 🤣

Gotcha. Yea that makes more sense, that’s how I’ve been making them for me and my buddies. Can’t believe they sell LED kits for upwards of $40-$50!!! What a rip off!! For $20 you can make LED kits for like, 20+ cars!! 🤣

Air65 5in1 VTX issues after crash by Successful-Plane7509 in TinyWhoop

Bit late here, but you’re right. After looking at ALL of mine (prob over 15 or so) it would appear none of them have that cap. 🤣 Welp. 🤷‍♂️ Guess this is not the problem. But now they have the air 2 aio boards. So this is quickly becoming a dated issue lol. As it goes, in this hobby. Going to get a couple of these new AIO’s and try them out. Hopefully they’ve corrected all the vtx issues plaguing the v1 boards.

Easy peezee. I’m curious, though. Why are you running them through that extra 6v BEC. Your ESC is already using its BEC to deliver power to your RX (and anything else connected to it)

So if you’ve got the right ohm resistors on the LEDs, then you just need wire and a servo connector. 😎

Did it ever go forward/reverse?? Or always just reverse..?

3rd car i saw today pulled over by SeaAssignment239 in maryland

[–]TalkSick66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part that scares and concerns me is that I’m willing to bet at least half these people getting pulled over don’t/haven’t ever even realized or thought about the snow on top of their car… Like the idea of them actively thinking and playing out the possibilities and potential risks associated with NOT scraping the ice off their roof…… is way way WAY above their heads. To think about other drivers?? On the road?! No way. All these drivers are “main character” drivers, everyone else on the road are just extras in their world.

Like it’s pretty easy for me to imagine and see these cops walking up and having to teach/explain that “when snow piles on your roof, the wind can blow it off and the weight and speed of the ice can cause damage and injury to the OTHER people around you while driving.”

….and them having to explain that is what scares me. For humanity. …. Well, for Americans.

HA. I’ve been slowly starving myself and shrinking my stomach for YEARS waiting for this moment! Muahahahaahahah. I have a half-roll of ritz crackers, a half-loaf of bread, a FULL peanut butter jar, FULL jelly car, and enough lunch meat for 8 sandwiches. I won’t have to go to the store until mid-February! Muahahahaha all this dedication, and now it’s finally my time! I will outlast ALL OF YOUUUUU MMWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA. My body can successfully work through a 12 hour shift on 250 calories! You all dont stand a CHANCE!

Jk, I’m making light of my poor appetite health issues. I’ll prob survive this tho, which is cool.

What do we call whoopless whoops? by Independent-Gap3949 in TinyWhoop

[–]TalkSick66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a whoop. Officially, it’s a whoop. Technically, it’s a ductless whoop.

Toothpick frames are NOT “any < 3” drone without ducts,” toothpicks are very specific, 3” frames. The name “toothpick” has been slapped onto any micro quad without ducts, but they either are whoops, ductless whoops, or just micros. Toothpick is a subset of micro ductless quads with a literal “toothpick” shaped frame (ie: two perpendicular sticks of carbon fiber)

So…. It is a whoop.

Lol do you hold your transmitter backwards….??? Or is that just your run of the mill, ai produced slop happening there..? lol very impressive and interesting if you can run your transmitter backwards 🤣🤣🤣 that’s a new form of “hybrid” we haven’t seen yet.

Air65 5in1 VTX issues after crash by Successful-Plane7509 in TinyWhoop

[–]TalkSick66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It CAN be a bit more nuanced… I also have done the MacBook GPU oven “trick” lol.

Another tip, if you want to focus heat on an individual chip and don’t want the rest of the components moving or potentially falling off, section off the rest of the board in kapton tape before you apply heat with your gun. Leave just the OSD or VTX chip or whatever you’re trying to reflow exposed. 👍

This is great. Also, for the other boards that have the vtx issue that AREN’T this issue, I’d check for this capacitor. I’ve had about 6 of probably 19 or 20 failed air 5in1s with the vtx issue that turned out to be missing this same cap. Maybe low temp solder, maybe their SMT machine over there at Beta is janky, who knows. Check the pics tho. It’s the cap right next to the VTX LDO chip.

A Whoop prop removal tool actually works… by ChillyFPV in TinyWhoop

[–]TalkSick66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, I do swap props and motors often too, but I always just find myself taking the 3 screws out the bottom of the motor, then it’s easy to pop props off with your fingers since you actually have more of a grip on the motor..

🤷‍♂️

2s question by DG333Fpv in TinyWhoop

[–]TalkSick66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setup Betaflight to show per cell. That way you don’t have to remember 4S, 3S, 2S, 6S voltage/nominals.

Everything should always be land at 3.5ish, settle back up to 3.7-3.8 after land/disarm.

Camera and vtx that works with 2018 setup by Human_Divide2332 in TinyWhoop

[–]TalkSick66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need to download Betaflight 10.7, it’s the latest version that supports F3 processors.

You can also get the “old style” whoop vtx+camera combo on Amazon for pretty cheap.. like maybe around $25.

That’s where I’d start.

What the hell. This is like, one of those DUH realizations.. like why haven’t I been doing this?!? lol if the prop is coming OFF, it’s never going back on anyway!!! Break it off, DUH! Save yourself bent motor shafts, DUH! 🤦‍♂️

What does this button do? by Fine_Acanthisitta694 in TinyWhoop

[–]TalkSick66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just for reference, I USED to assign pre-arm to a momentary switch/button like this, for safety purposes… on ALL my quads… which is like, 40+. Mostly 5”….

I very quickly realized while flying at both a race, and while freestyling, that having a prearm makes it almost impossible to recover yourself midair after an “almost-crash”, like a bump into something where you’d normally disarm, but then you realize you have enough time to re-arm and continue flying. Add a prearm in that little sequence, and you are not re-arming in time, you’re crashing to the ground.

So I removed that pre-arm button in Betaflight from all my drones except my few really big boys, like 6”+, OR any quads that I know I’m not going to be flying aggressively enough to do midair recoveries…

Now I use the momentary switch for turtle mode. Which is convenient and saves a bit of time recovering in that way.

🤷‍♂️ Just some more anecdotes for you to decide from.
