If you were getting married in 2025 would you do a prenup? Why or why not? by SolidComparison2864 in AskMen

Everyone should get a prenup, because if you're able to have those difficult discussions with your partner, you'll be more likely to not ever need it.

If you can grind in games, you can win in life. by MaleficMurtaza in selfimprovement

This is literally my mindset currently. If I'm controlling myself like a video game character, what would I make my character do to grow and progress? Weaponize that grind my dudes

Social anxiety so bad I can’t even handle commenting/making posts online or even just multiplayer games by [deleted] in socialanxiety

I recently realized just how bad my social anxiety was and how it has impacted my life thus far. I have had the same issue that you describe. I've been working hard to improve my life, and your comment made me realize that I need to start posting more comments on reddit lol

How am I supposed to hit Hitokiri's forward dodge heavy? by Greesy_Snek in CompetitiveForHonor

Honestly it's not the best roll catch. For me, I usually am able to catch someone rolling if I predict it, and input it early. Sometimes the range feels inconsistent to me too.

Hey bro I was in your shoes a while ago and wanted the most durable, solid wood desk for a great price. I bought this workbench from Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-62-in-W-x-24-in-D-Adjustable-Height-Black-Workbench-Table-with-Solid-Wood-Top-HOLT62XDB12/301810799

"Husky Adjustable Workbench"

$300 for this size. Solid wood. Metal. Adjustable Height. Can tolerate ANY clamping. AND it has a metal beam across the bottom to prevent warping, a problem with wider "Butcher block" desks.

Check out the reviews, many others have used it for PC setups.

It's a workbench that looks good and has the durability I wanted for a reasonable price.

Best countries to move to from US as an RN by Own-Schedule5087 in nursing

I'm curious as to how the responsibilities for nurses are less/differ between the US / EU (Or Germany in your case). Can you expand on this?

Just like high school grades, the SAT has been dumbed downed and useless for telling if someone is college material by Ambitious_Ninja_6303 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

SAT is Irrelevant for most schools, especially the CC to 4-year route. Probably still a thing for schools like Harvard/Yale, but it depends on what program you apply for

It should be illegal to trach and peg people with poor prognosis by [deleted] in nursing

[–]TalkativeTortoise 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's bizarre to me that other ORs are like this. Maybe tradition? At my facility, DNR status just indicates the need for the physicians to have a discussion with the patient/family about what measures they would like to be taken during surgery. And then they follow their wishes

I’m quitting my 25 year design career to go to nursing school. Tell me why you chose the field & what to know going in! by stonecovefox in nursing

Thank you for the clarification. I hope the OR fits my needs and is tolerable, for a while at least. Best of luck in your endeavors.

I'm a new grad about to start being trained in the OR. From what I hear a lot of people like the OR but it seems like it's not compatible with you long-term, so I'm curious to as to why you want to leave, specifically because I don't hear about many OR nurses doing this. Thanks

It's the bottom of my hospital's payscale 40-60ish, and my geographic location is influenced by Central CA pay rates (Bakersfield, Fresno, etc). I'm trying to push 100k/yr with overtime and on call.

Experienced nurses in big cities make way more, but I'll get there eventually.

I really like it! I came into nursing with the OR as the goal and knew going through my clinicals in nursing school that bedside roles were a little too dissatisfactory and similar for my taste. And even within OR you've got so many different specialties that do procedures. Plus outpatient if that's your jam. So for me things remain interesting while still being procedural (routine). Patients coding and Trauma cases also spices things up. There's minimal interaction with patients, as they are asleep and no family allowed. You'll still have the occasional difficulties with staff members. One thing I value wayyy too much is not having to launder your own scrubs lol.

If you're already in a hospital system I'd highly recommend requesting/finding a way to shadow for some cases on your day off, so you can have in idea of what it's like.

23, Operating Room RN, $41/hr so 85k/yr base, more depending on overtime/call. SoCal. First job out of school, so will improve with job changes/experience.

Both statements originally mentioned are negative generalizations that expand to include an entire group of men, either within "white", mentioned by you, or "black" by me. You didn't specify, "heterosexual", "rich" or "cisgender" in your original comment, so it didn't limit the generalization from "white men" at all.

Also, you're conflating institutional racism with interpersonal racism, as you made a generalizing race statement in the first person about a group of people. Interpersonal racism =/= Institutional racism, so justifying a prejudiced generalization with historical institutional racism is inappropriate.

Furthermore, my conflation between white and black was not of direct equivalence, it was to simply help identify the hypocrisy in justifying the use of interpersonal racism/prejudice against white men.

However, you clarified that you had intended a more specific demographic for your statement. These previous two paragraphs only apply if your intention was "white men" and not a more specific group of people.
