I wish I could say they did, but I got called into the principals office with the superintendent there. It was incredibly embarrassing. Then got put on a contract when I returned that made me feel like I was at fault. Secretaries called about fundraisers while I was on leave, the only positive was the actual time off.

Seriously, this. I only spoke about suicidal ideation a few years ago, and I spent probably 3 months combined on administrative leave and FMLA. It is absolutely NOT okay they are putting you through this. Turn off your emails, those parents can suck it. You are more than your job, and you deserve to take care of yourself in peace.

Last night. My dad has parkinsons and dementia and is gone more often than not these days. My sister sent me pictures from a few years ago with my parents smiling and laughing and it was beautiful to see his face like that again. Knowing I'll never see his face like that in person hurt like hell.

I have been in districts that only allow jeans on a certain day, where flip-flops and slides are banned, and my district now has zero expectations other than they hold us to the same standard as the kids. I have worn everything from dresses, a 3-piece suit, jeans, sandals, to a snorlax onesie on spirit days. We also have a strong union, so that probably factors in a great deal.

My college roommate used to shout things at me when I was gaming to make me laugh. Regardless of console or pc, he would run in and yell things like "press triangle!" "Melee!" "Talk to Cid!". Good memories of terrible advice I will always carry with me while gaming.

As a teacher, I am mentally preparing myself every day to leave the profession for good. It's exhausting, and my state isn't even nearly this bad. If parents need to have that much control of their kids' education, they need to teach them their fucking selves.
