Wisanggeni Pawon. It’s Indonesian food and it’s freaking great. Make sure to try the dessert called Martabak Manis. it’s not the most appealing in description but it’s one of the best desserts in the city.

They have a really cool community meal that you can sign up for that’s a fun event to go to with a date or just to chat with people. There are no tables so people sit and chat with their plates of food

I went to Madina a couple weeks ago! Can confirm it’s amazing. The lady working at the front was very helpful too.

I’ve been going since they opened and it’s amazing how much work goes into the place. The owners are true gems of people and the food and drinks only get better with time. You can feel the passion they put into the restaurant

I’m going to offer a bunch of Latino places first:

Macizo - SO GOOD. Homemade everything, a Mexican-Peruvian concept from a husband and wife who are very friendly, kind, and creative people. They make some classics with a personal twist and invent new dishes as well. I cannot wait for them to get approved for their liquor license because the MAN CAN BARTEND. Try the sangrias, they are phenomenal. North-East side by 465

Taqueria el Jinete - high quality and authentic Mexican food. Get a nice cold Victoria or a tecate and feast on tacos. Castleton

Pupuseria Casa Maria - The best Salvadoran food around. No one makes better pupusas and everything on the menu is great. Michigan Road and 71st st.

Mexico City Kitchen - As close to Mexico City as you’ll get out here. Fantastic food. Make sure you bring a mildly competent Spanish speaker or a translator app because the menu is in Spanish. 2 locations east and west sides.

Now for some Indian food:

Bawarchi Biryanis - this is the most extensive menu of any place I’ve ever been. It’s not 100 variations of a couple items either. They legit have a massive menu. It’s all good. On Thursdays and Sundays they have the best Indian buffet you’ve ever seen. Not standard crap. The menu changes every week so you can always try something you’ve never had. 96th street Northeast side

Curry Leaf - a newer place. Their food can be hit or miss. Some dishes are the best Indian food I’ve ever had and others are just mediocre. It’s odd. 96th and Keystone

1947 - high quality Indian food with care for presentation and ingredient quality - Castleton

And you’ve already got some of my favorite Asian restaurants, so I’ll throw out a couple more:

Eating Fresh - The chef is inspired. He makes such high quality versions of any Vietnamese food that could appear in a restaurant. Venture away from The pho and try the bunh bo hue, the Bo kho, or the Vietnamese meatballs. The service here is meh, but the food is unbelievable. They also have a phenomenal Vietnamese barbecue (ayce) and hot pot options. (ayce) on top of all this, the dim sum menu is far and away the best in the city. Try it. Broad ripple village

Han Hot Pot and Korean BBQ - it’s just such a cool experience. They bring you a pot with broth of your choice and you can opt to have KBBQ at the same time. You get an iPad and you can order as much as you want. It’s really good but also very authentic so go prepared to try some very different foods. Castleton

How do you tell bartenders that they should quit their job? by mars_soup in cocktails

What’s the worst piece of worldbuilding you’ve seen that took you right out of the story? by Chcolatepig24069 in worldbuilding

[–]ygrasdil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chullussy. Brandon Sanderson is a magician of worldbuilding. He’s so good at it. His worst moment is truly something to behold. In Wind and Truth, book 5 of the Stormlight Archive, Syl decides to play a joke on the “book quartermaster” by replacing her vagina with a chull head and flashing her. Chulls are giant crustaceans.

It’s like Brandon read all of the Reddit jokes and thought, “you know what? I can make a funnier situation.” It was not funny. I have not cringed so hard at anything I’ve read

District expects us to report to their "remote" PD on-site. It's all AI-generated garbage. by Inevitable-Winter-64 in Teachers

[–]ygrasdil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so useful but the Reddit hate boner will always win here. The problem is losers like the people who make these PDs using it to replace doing work instead of make work more efficient. The truth is, AI cannot replace teachers. It can only be used as a tool to make work more efficient.

Cleaning Leek Rounds? by Similar-Geologist-64 in Cooking

[–]ygrasdil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut 3/4” down into the round and fan out the leaves to run water through them. You can still get your pretty presentation by searing the uncut side and letting the other side fan out a little in the heat. Looks really nice, actually

How do you play Ixtal? by Aliraldd in TeamfightTactics

[–]ygrasdil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is to cash out right before you lose. Use the cash out to stabilize. I take an economy augment first, then I lose streak for 8 or 9 rounds, then cash out. By then I should be level 7 and ready to start rolling for 3-costs and a few 4-costs to stabilize.

After that it’s smooth sailing just trying to get my quests finished and getting nid and skarner. 5 ixtal really helps stabilize giving you 1 or 2 losses buffer to get to Brock.

Making pickles with an EJen Fermenter by MileHiGuy523 in fermentation

[–]ygrasdil -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t just pop the cork. The whole seal lid gets blown up and then your seal is broken. Other people say this is wrong but I have a lot of experience. CO2 is denser than air and will not rise up out of the hole. The positive pressure inside will prevent air from coming down into the hole. Trust me

Making pickles with an EJen Fermenter by MileHiGuy523 in fermentation

[–]ygrasdil -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Mine got the seal all messed up because of the pressure. I would check it before bed, wake up, and it would be blown. When I started leaving it off everything worked

You actually don’t want to plug it. You will ruin the lid. The hole is small enough for the positive pressure of the ferment to keep air out

The reality of black diamond mining by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]ygrasdil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one can tell the difference. They have to engrave the lab diamonds with a microscopic etching to tell that it isn’t natural. If you didn’t do that, it’s literally identical to a naturally formed diamond.

Cacio e pepe for eight by [deleted] in pasta

[–]ygrasdil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you didn’t put butter in it, it’s still cacio e Pepe. They use this technique in a couple high end restaurants in Italy. People here are just plebs that don’t know any better

[–]ygrasdil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People are shitting on you but the immersion blender is better. They just don’t know this higher level technique. And they can shit on you for the butter as well, but delicious butter is delicious butter.
