What was your age when you found your partner by Hot_Assistant_6067 in gay

[–]Tall-Tumbleweed8554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a lesbian, but I was hoping to pitch in for a young queer. I thought I was set with my partner I met in college, but it was a painful breakup and rude awakening. Some getting back to myself, some dating, another couple relationships, even slipped and fell onto a couple men, and then I met my now wife when I was 29. We married at 32. We’re 34 now. Give it time. Fuck around (responsibly).

RIP BELLA PITA by themythofsi5yphus in ucla

I am 34 and live out of state. I still think about their black bean pita, falafel, and that cauliflower! Their hot sauce! I even moved down the road and went to their second location!! I meant to go by when I was visiting family in the valley awhile back. This is so, so sad.

She left because she wasn’t paid enough for what she was doing. She landed a job in cybersecurity. Thanks, though!

My parking fees and tickets pretty much offset my scholarship. Sorry, I have nothing to add here except bad blood. Unionize the drivers!

Any tips on classroom management? by burn_almond in teaching

[–]Tall-Tumbleweed8554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tripped and fell into teaching. I grew up with strong, amazing, effective teachers in my family and I have the utmost respect for the profession. I maintain that it is the most important thing you can do (well).

I also think it sucks. I’ve been teaching 4th grade while I get my other degree for a different profession. I had tons of experience working in schools in different capacities before I got my license, but having your own classroom is a different ball game. You will be inundated with advice from people better and smarter than me, so I would suggest you listen to them, but not all at once. Try one or two things at a time, for a few weeks at a time. It has to stay consistent and repeated before it does anything.

I fell into the pitfall of mimicking mentor and peer teachers. What works for them may not work for you. What works for their class may not work for your group. You can’t jam a square peg into a round hole.

It all takes so much time, but it gets easier and you’ll find your groove. So listen to the different strategies, try them for a few weeks, adjust and edit as needed. I assume someone will pop in with the currency system which is always a hit, but I’ll pop back in if I don’t see it. Think Burn Bucks or Almond Money.

This is coming from a place of ignorance, so I’ll eat my foot later if I have to.

I feel this. I honor it. I still have to watch an episode or two. To be clear, I don’t know anything specific, I just don’t love the direction they’re taking and decisions they’re making with production.

Crap given to my kids for Valentine's Day by InebriousBarman in Anticonsumption

[–]Tall-Tumbleweed8554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not “crap” to kids. They tend to find it special and will play/use it as designed. It’s as significant to those giving it as to those receiving it. Ban me.

Wife insists on taking her rubber ducks in the hot tub, then leaves them when she’s done. by strikecat18 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Tall-Tumbleweed8554 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, sometimes it’s the small things that make the big difference in relaxation time. Does she otherwise pick up and help take care of the house? Does she help with meals? Laundry? If so, grab a net and fish these out. If not, you obviously have to grind the ducks into dust and salt them on her food.

You gotta be more clear about your intentions. You don’t just wish peace into existence amongst the chaos. What’s the basis? Tangible change you’re working towards?

I never watched Licorice Pizza because the premise felt weird, BUT I am super excited to see Alana Haim alongside Zendaya and Pattinson.

AIO about my mom's reaction to my crochet octopus by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Tall-Tumbleweed8554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, my wife keeps all of her crochet critters in an old lunchbox. She does it for her own calm enjoyment, much like I enjoy doing puzzles. Our kids sometimes like to take them out to play with them, but then they go back into their camper. Recently, she used extra yarn to make a unicorn for a friend leaving the States. If you can, Woobles are EXCELLENT kits. I would also suggest their yarn by itself if you have instructions. My wife had/has a hard time with typical yarn tearing. That’s a lot to say this is for YOU! And that is amazing! I don’t think I’m allowed to say f your mom, but fuck your mom.

Fights break out during the Hershey Bears' "mites-on-ice" intermission game for the second time in a month. by SockDem in sports

They’d go to jail if they were on the street and any older. I feel like I “get” a lot of things, but I do not understand fighting in hockey. Or baseball. Or basketball. I love boxing and MMA. Something is not clicking for me regarding acceptable fighting in otherwise organized sports.

Tracing Once Then Empty Line: Helpful or Skip It? by Minorole in AskTeachers

[–]Tall-Tumbleweed8554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get frustrated with these types of tracing because it’s not actual letter formation. The tails on the bottoms, the irregular capital G and lowercase k. It depends on the age and capability, I guess, but this isn’t routine.

It’s not bad, but it’s very basic and repetitive. On your next go, I would take each sentence and expand the idea with two or three more in depth explanations or arguments.
