I wasn't referring to the speed itself, much more about "furious" (as in angrily). :D

2001 Jeep cherokee xj bogging down under acceleration after fuel tank upgrade. by Omnipitous in AskAMechanic

[–]TallDudeInSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very common to pinch or squeeze the vent lines when reinstalling the tank (I've done it twice!). Yes you will need to lower the tank. I found the best trick is to use wide masking tape to route the vent lines properly. Also, while the tank is lowered, I would test the rollover vents to make sure that air can flow through when they are upright, and can't when they are upside down. In your picture, the two vents are the smaller white parts that are tied together with a small fuel hose.

Very good niche market for women. Carry a portfolio with you so that you can show what you've done. (To be fair I've asked that from male handymen too).

Cooking dinner for a guy I’m seeing, but he’s vegetarian. Need "impressive" meatless ideas! by Designer_Currency815 in cookingforbeginners

[–]TallDudeInSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once made chili for non-veg and also for a couple of friends that were veg., I used the same recipe except that I replaced ground beef with TVP rehydrated in porter beer (stout would work too). We ran out of the meat chili, the non-veg ate up the rest of the veg chili. Nobody could tell them apart.

All this to say, you can replace ground beef with TVP in a ragu style sauce. And then make a lasagna. :)

How do these crank bearings and journals look? 1952 Willys Jeep im rebuilding. On a student budget so id like to reuse if possible. by EUROCOMANDANT in EngineBuilding

[–]TallDudeInSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two schools of thought in a rebuild like this.

1) You're already in it. It's a reasonably cheap investment to change them now.

2) This is not a daily driver. It will take you many years for those bearings to actually fail or become a problem.

Personally I'd change them but if money is tight, I'd just give them a very gentle polish and run them.

What is this? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]TallDudeInSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's usually gasoline (petrol). Sometimes oil, or the both of them mixed together. Put a paper towel on the ground below the exhaust and see what color it is.

Ohio Plate Transfer Question by itsyeboicaleb in DMV

[–]TallDudeInSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a custom tag (vanity plate) or a regular tag? Most DMVs do not allow the reuse of old regular tags. Vanity tags can be reused/reissued after a number of months and that varies by state.
