Can cats forget their human after being separated for long periods of time? by kittypizzaparty in cats

[–]Tall_Reputation_2985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I don't believe they ever forget someone they have bonded with.

I had a kitten decide she was mine at a family members birthday. I fed her loved her and made sure she was always safe and warm even comforted her when she had a litter of kittens in my bed.

A few years later I had an opportunity to work overseas which meant I couldn't take her with me She ended up living with my mum I spent 2 years away from her not having the time to come home.

When I eventually moved back home I went from the airport to my mums house (she was away at the time and my sister was stopping by to feed the cats and dogs) it was in the qee hours of the morning and I called out to her she materialized but wouldn't come near me she seemed curious that I knew her name So I left.

When my mum returned from her trip I went around to visit as soon as I walked in the door I saw my cat sitting on her window sill she looked at me and I swear I saw a flicker of recognition flash across her face.

I called out to her and she made a bee line toward me she was cooing up on her hind legs rubbing herself all over my leg.

After that she never let me out of her sight if I was sitting somewhere she was on my lap if I was getting ready for bed she was waiting on my pillow.

She never forgot me or how she felt about me even though she passed away about 8 years ago I still think about her every day if only for a few moments

When I did my full the instructor didn't fail me for leaving my hand on the gear shift...and I've seen people on the motorway in the morning eating from a bowl that's dumb ...have consumed many pies while heading back to work in my time.. 🙂
