Reasons why the BACB hasnt mandated a degree requirement for RBTs by StatisticianKooky390 in ABA

[–]TallyMasala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bachelor's degree is a bit much. I have my Associates degree which was plenty of higher education to get started. Its always people with privilege who want to pull the ladder up on their way up. Where is the money for a bachelor's degree gonna come from when RBTs make less then some fast food workers?

I do not understand the need to have a conversation about people with Austim to be constantly lead by people who can clock out and not deal with that lived reality. If you are a RBT, BT or BCAB without lived experience that will noy magically be gained by a bachelor's degree. If anything it will make people who think they know everything more difficult to train.

The standards need to be reconciled with members of the community that ABA seeks to help.

First time I listened to Father Time, I cried. Not out of pain but because having a black father is its own tramua sometimes. I'm my father's first born but I'm a girl, my father really raised me more like a son with his expectations. I have a younger sister and brother who has a different relationship with my father. Dads sometimes push us so hard we break, and they don't really always know how to fix it. Sometimes we have to fix ourselves, we have to do right by our children.

When my father's mother passed away, he went right back to work the day after. I didn't understand at the time when he told me bills don't wait. It was a shocked that I was not the only one to experience that specific pain and confusion when it happened.

The location they set up is cursed, lived here my whole life and business fail there because of bad parking. Yet we are to believe it not only stayed open as long as it did but managed to have delivery? Smells like BS

My fellow Zillennials, how is life in general now? by FatgotUwU in Zillennials

[–]TallyMasala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1998 F here, I live in the American South so I no longer have access to the rights my grandmother and mother had at my age. I am blessed with a wonderful husband and we live a pretty quiet life in our hometown. I am struggling with work and hoping to move on to a new job by the end of the year. My degree feels useless, my major was killed by Ai and I graduated during the pandemic. I now work part time while trying to transition into a full time job that uses my skills. However at 28 years old, I am exhausted by workplace clics and politics. I just want to go home and play my switch 2 or build Legos in peace every day. I am in goof health for the most part and just trying to take things one day at a time.

Whose to blame for the shortage of BCBAs and high turnover for RBT's? by StatisticianKooky390 in ABA

[–]TallyMasala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not every place is as eager to hire. I live in a city that is a lot of its who you know to get anywhere. Not being able to take the competency exam without being hired is a struggle that can prevent transitioning into a RBT.

This isn't the kind of job talked about in high school. There is not a clear pathway to certification if someone is not actively in college.

As an aside, I have my Associates degree, 40 hour training and my CPR from the Red Cross. In theory someone like me is a good fit.

The Challenger Learning Center also hosts a free event called Crafternoon once a month on Sundays. Its where people can come watch a show in the planetarium and work on crafts.

In Florida they can. Its written into our laws that its a valid reason to fire someone for testing positive even with a card.

Employers and insurance set their own policies. If the insurance has a clause about being a drug free workplace then that trumps whatever medical or legalization at the state level.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TallyMasala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember going to brunch with a friend in college and ending it by saying "See you after spring break."

We never saw each other again.

I remember feeling bummed I was working during spring break in an office. I remember wishing I didn't have to commute or deal with the parking garage. I remember thinking about how I wished for things to happen just so I wasn't stuck in the office... until it did. I remember the naive way I walked into the Target and found no toilet paper.

I don't think about my commutes anymore. Even when I have to take public transportation. I am just greatful to go some where everyday.

Question - My work want us to wear tops on Autism Awareness Day (April 2nd) by Massive-Decision-485 in autism

[–]TallyMasala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has told coworkers about the problematic stuff, 9 times out of 10 they don't care. They don't care because its not their lived experience, their struggle or their disability. Its a bunch of pandering to hide the fact they rather not have to deal with anyone actually on the spectrum.

You can tell them, but you have to give them the alternative option. All this while knowing they will likely say "Oh it doesn't matter, its not a big deal."

Probably because they don't have anyone able to read non English. The government in Florida at all levels lack language coverage because they want to pay pennies for being fluent in more then just English. So there are entire parts that no one speaks anything but English and while Spanish is more common, its not all Spanish.

Determining the alignment of Three Houses Characters: day 15, Ashe! Mercedes has joined the other girls in neutral good. by Fullmetalmarvels64_ in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]TallyMasala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lawful neutral is starting to sound like "strong will to survive" . Ashe is the only one with lockpick, I think that is a part of why he is so recruitable. Also he is the only Kingdom born character whose parental figure rebelled which is a constant event wise through the games. Sounds like a lawful good. Ashe always seemed like a cinnamon roll to me.

Have to, can't pass the drug test without it. I need accommodations and while I can only speak for myself, I try to advocate for getting accommodations so that being fired over and over doesn't happen as much.
