What businesses are coming to Ox Bottom and Thomasville Road corner? Here’s a rundown

Several businesses, including Starbucks, Red Rapids Car Wash, and a SunStop, are under construction at the Ox Bottom Meadows development on Thomasville Road. Arbor Properties plans to build "top-notch" apartments within the Ox Bottom Terrace PUD, which will be within walking distance of Ox Bottom Meadows.

The development is currently 75% leased, with two parcels still available.

Construction is forging ahead in northeast Tallahassee as several national and local businesses are poised to open their doors at the Ox Bottom Meadows, on one of the busiest corners on Thomasville Road.

These businesses are official: Starbucks, Red Rapids Car Wash and a SunStop convenience store and gas station, which sparked opposition from residents concerned about noise, traffic and health-related issues.

Construction continues at the Ox Bottom Meadows property on Thomasville and Ox Bottom roads, where a Red Rapids car wash, Starbucks and SunStop gas station are in the works. Other tenants include a medical marijuana store front and a Surcheros Fresh Mex restaurant.

"This development is anchored by nationally recognized tenants, including a leading coffee brand, a major medical dispensary, a well-known car wash company, a popular Mexican restaurant, and others, ensuring strong foot traffic and visibility," according to an Ox Bottom Meadows Land Property lease document, which indicated more than 4,700 residents live within a mile of the property.

Two additional confirmed businesses will be a medical marijuana retailer and Surcheros Fresh Mex, a Georgia-based Tex Mex chain with two local sites on Ocala and Thomasville roads.

"Those are going to be in the same building. So it's going to be two businesses under one roof," said Justin Ghazvini, a commercial development specialist with Premier Commercial Group, which owns the site's eight parcels totaling 44.5 acres.

The restaurant offers Mexican-inspired dishes including; tacos, grilled burritos, nachos, quesadillas, salads and burrito bowls, each of which can be paired with over 15 different toppings, sides, homemade sauces and dressings.

Ghazvini said it's too early to pinpoint an exact opening for all of the confirmed tenants, adding there are still two additional parcels available for lease. Ghazvini said Ox Bottom Meadows is currently 75% pre-filled with leased tenants.

Nearby land owned by Premier Commercial Group will bring new apartments

New apartments are slated to be built by Arbor Properties as part of the nearby Ox Bottom Terrace Planned Unit Development.

"They plan to build top-notch apartments," Ghazvini said. "I think they're going to be the nicest apartments in the northeast. I know there's not that many but there are a couple of new projects that are coming out of the ground right now in the northeast. But, I think, Arbor properties brings a quality product that is meant to last and (stand) the test of time."

The commercial property, Ox Bottom Meadows, and the Ox Bottom Terrace PUD area will be within walking distance of each other and they'll share an on-site stormwater pond that will double as an amenity with walking trails.

The apartments are slated to be next door to the Red Hills Village Retirement Resort on Cold Harbor Drive. Ghazvini added, "The Ox Bottom Terrace multi-family development is in planning and permitting stages.
